My children were very excited about this kit. on reflection, It probably would have been better for older children. We used most of it, but the children didn't quite get the concept so we made it a fun experience to do fun things instead.

Unfortunately there was not enough information when requesting the kit for me to establish whether it would work in the specific STEAM environment in which I teach. However, it looked fabulous and so I and my STEAM colleagues ordered 4 sets (1 set each). Once the kits reached us it became apparent that it did not lend itself to whole year level teaching and so we have not used the kits. They have not gone to waste though and have been offered to other class teachers to use as and when they are doing measurement in maths.

So much achieved with my year 4-6 students creating and sharing their knowledge. All students participated by creating their own record to break, trialling, and recording using measurement, graphing and loads of laughs. Thank to the wonderful creators of this kit!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? PE and Health, in particular leadership, confidence, and resililence. Maths, Reading, Writing.
The DIY World Records was used by years 4 and 5 students(43 students). It took a bit to organise at the beginning and required boundaries to set while making up the activities so they were not the same, dangerous or too difficult to complete. Once the activites were set and students understood how it worked and what was expected of them, they thoroughly enjoyed the kit and had a lot of fun. We ran it alongside our Measurement unit and was a great opportunity to put what they had learnt into practice.
