I recently changed my home address, which apparently gave 1st Central insurance a reason to increase my fee from £298 (i paid last year) to £591 this year! I used compare.com to see how much i should have paid, and other car insurance companies such as Admiral would charged me £290 with my new location. I called the customer services, as i have been with the 1st Central for 4 years, then they gave me no reasonable explanation for the crazy fee increase and they still charged me £50 cancelation fee as i was 1 day over the cooling off period. I am most disappointed with their attatute, especially during the COVID period, when all the other rules and resulations are beign flexed, such as MOT deadlines.

After two weeks my web portal still doesn’t work. I can’t still access my insurance documents. This is unacceptable.

I have read a lot of FAKE GOOD REVIEWS about this company. You should check out the low score reviews as they’re actually real!! Cancelled my policy due to their incompetence, inflexibility, and basic lack of knowledge - I was promised on 4 separate calls by 4 different people I’d get a refund of £200, also promised a refund fee to be waived and I asked for a breakdown of what exactly I was being charged for l. Nobody called back like promised, nobody sent me anything, no explanation, no money, Worst of all - noone took any notes of the previous conversations had!!!!!!! I have Literally spent about 9 hours on the phone with the a absolute fools since last week!!!!!! Who has to call a company every day about the same thing!!?? Who?? They have send an arrears request instead of doing anything in my requests...!!! Called up AGAIN and found that nothing has actually been authorised by anyone with power. This is insane. I’ve NEVER had to repeat myself sooo much in my bloody life!!! The worst company, incredible liars, AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

absolutely bad, got a policy, went to cancel it a couple months later, and they charged an absolute bomb. first I was told there would only be a £50 cancelation fee, now ive told that the base price, and you have to add up the times where I was insured, and in total it was over £100's. never USE THIS COMPANY. STAY AWAY.

Wouldn't even give 1 star... I feel like I have been robbed by this company. I tried to cancel my policy the next day before it had even started and had to pay £50. If I had waited longer it would have been £100. How do they get away with robbing people like this? Terrible customer service. After reading reviews on how they hide extra charges and up the excess amount I am glad I got away with only paying that... Lesson learnt.

£50 cancellation fee would not be waived by the web chat advisor Laura H even though policy not due to start until 09/10/20. I made a small mistake on price comparison site and didn't realise until I had paid. I tried all day to get an advisor on the 1st Central chat and after 6 hours someone replied. I explained what I had done and said I wanted to cancel the policy so I could re-do it correctly on the comparison site. I was even going to take it out again with 1st Central and it was going to cost me £3 more only for the exact same policy. Ist central wanted another over £20. I explained I was in financial difficulty due to furlough etc but the advisor wouldn't give an inch. I though it was against the law to charge extra money if you cancelled in the cooling off period! This is an utter disgrace. My mum has a policy with this company and she is furious as well. Don't think they will be getting our trade again on renewal. This company should be ashamed of itself taking advantage of people like this when people are genuinely struggling. Its a rip off.

I made a small mistake when I put in my details on Compare the Market but unfortunately I didn't realise until after I paid. I tried to cancel to re do it on Compare the Market as it would cost me £3 more only. You lot charged me over £20 despite me saying I was in financial difficulty due to furlough. I asked to cancel my policy and you money grabbing lot said you would charge £50 if I did even though you reserve the right not to. Now I am stuck with this company for a year knowing how unfair you are. I wont be renewing again and my mum has her policy with you wont be renewing either on principal. Beware everyone of this money grabbing disgraceful company.

Asked for details, all details sent over more details than ANY OTHER insurance has ever asked for. All documents say accepted on the portal then i suddenly get an email saying my insurance will be cancelled as I have not sent the correct documents. shambles insurance, no wonder they're cheap. Oh and if you can get through to them on the phone? miracle

They have the worst service. After I insured my vehicle with them, They keep asking for additional documents like their clients have nothing better to do. They will push you to cancel the policy and charge you hidden charges. AVOID......

I’ve found 1st Central on an comparison website one evening, cheep price £30.00 cheaper than my current renewal, so I take out the insurance There and then. After I paid for everything I noticed that the start date was one week prior to my current insurance ran out. Try to call 1st central but they was closed. Call the following morning and been told “no problem cancel the one and take an new one out with the correct start date” all seems fine to me as it was not even 24 hours since I’ve taken it out and it’s not due to start in 2 weeks anyway. After cancelling it and take an new one out I noticed they have taken £50.00 for administrative/cancelling fees. And now I have an issue with the new one that I’ve taken out with them too. I will never ever insure with 1st central again and if you go for an cheap one, think twice. I’ve learned the hard way, learned from me!!

I got ripped off by @1stCentral on 28th August. £50 to cancel a policy I never consented to. Took it upon themselves to "automatically" renew my policy for twice what I have renewed for. I had 14days to opt-out of tiger imposed policy sent exactly 14 days before expiry. Keep off these guys. It will cost you.

I was in an accident over 3 weeks ago and they were great when I called to inform them of it. I had an email to say that the third party was liable and that is all the correspondence I have had other than my constant phone calls the last few days. My car has been with the garage 3 weeks yesterday and is still waiting for the work to be authorised by 1st Central. I called 1st central yesterday to ask why and they said they didn’t know. I was then told that it would be authorised within 24hrs. It hasn’t so I called back this morning to be told that it takes 48hrs. I have been without my car for over 3 weeks and the work has not even been started on it yet due to 1st central not authorising it. I am just not getting anywhere.

Had two vehicles covered, fair price at start then out of the blue extra 150 pluss 50 charge a year for me having non fault claim when someone hit one of my parked cars didnt even make a claim for any repairs just reported incident. Paid them off never ever would I use these sharks again! Be aware of them.

My premium has gone up as they have got me mixed up with someone else? Nearly two hours on the phone I was asked to commit an offence which was recorded!? And still hasn’t been sorted shocking and no call back an xtra £80 a year for someone else’s claim awful service

Don’t use!! They try to justify hidden charges such as a setting up fee of £50 that isn’t refunded even if you cancel within your first 14 days cooling off period. After reading other reviews on here I’m going to pay that now just so that I’m not stuck in a contract with them and their reputation
