“As a checkatrade costumer for Seven years with all good reviews I asked for my son to come and work with me as he was an x client of there's i did not think there would be a problem Then checkatrade sent me a text saying that my son had a ccj so i was suspended on the spot I told them if there was a problem with my son just leave him of and i will carry on as i have done for the last 7 years I pay over £2000 a year and they said i still had to carry on paying that even though i was suspended terrible way to be treated after all this time”

“The thing to remember with Checkatrade is that they rely on having trades people on their books. The consequence of this is you will very rarely find a negative customer review of one of the companies who use them. The company i used let me down but Checkatrade would not publish a negative review but instead claimed they would "monitor" the company. So just beware when reading all those glowing reviews.”

I would prefer to rate this company as zero. My organgery/conservatory was started in June 2019 and still has not been finished. Two weeks before Xmas, I was left with an uneven floor, despite 6/7 attempts by them to level it with my kitchen, no heating in my conservatory, and old dust rag (left by them) to stop the dust and wind blowing into my kitchen area. My new furniture was building up and had to be stored in my dining area- the Ops Director attended my property and he was nothing short of arrogant and intimidating. This was witnessed by a two people in my home at that time. Now June 2020, no skirting boards, plaster cracks, inadequate sealant, uneven window sills and I have paid £20,000 for this. I had to pay £400 to get the floor re levelled by a professional company and all the Ops Director could say was that he refused to complete the work until I promised to pay another £2,500. This is despite their constantly poor customer service to me on so many occasions.
I am not alone in my experiences and have uncovered local people who have also had issues with this company. I really cannot stress this enough - steer clear!”

“Very difficult to be elderly and woman living on her own, this attracts many unscrupulous builders wanting more cash.
So wanting to do home improvements I looked in the traders directories, reading reviews.
To my astonishment I encountered problems with some builders I reviewed and those reviews have not come live, indeed check a trade now has stop me messaging to traders jobs to be done.
Shame on them.
To name few: had a bathroom fitter who came asked for deposit removed my bathroom and never came back, had 2 windows companies asking for big deposit who cancelled but did not want to refund the money, all my reviews for those have disappeared, so do you really trust check a trade?
One of those traders has a company in liquidation which is of course not told on check a trade.”
