“Actually I would like to give zero star to AA .
I had some issues with AA . When I called AA 2 times for my car , but it didn’t work at all . And they haven’t gave correct diagnoses for car problems. They just changed battery , but still same situation. Then I decided to bring my car to the mechanic shop by AA’s towing. So I booked the towing 5days before at AA . They confirmed that time and the day in the morning. And also they recommended the best time to book towing before the starting the traffic.so I booked at 3 pm that is according from AA.
But at that day they didn’t come on time . Finally I called AA to ask the situation . they said they can’t come or might come evening because of busy situations . if they come in the evening, the mechanic shop will be closed.
I already booked the mechanic shop for it and arrange my schedule also.
It was not acceptable situation.”
“Had 2 issues with a camper van that led to the intervention of AA. Both times the announced intervention duration was off and the intervention delayed.
The second time, the intervention was announced within an hour. Two hours later, I called back. They said they would call the team to check ETA. They announced an intervention 20 minutes later. One hour later, I called back. They announced an intervention 15 minutes later. When I complained that the times they gave us were hard to trust, they answered in a very annoyed way that there were delays in my area, which they had not announced at any point during prior conversations.
All this was particularly difficult to deal with since the break down occurred in an area without cellular reception. I had to hitch hike my way back and forth to a point with cellular reception, each time leaving my 3 kids and wide behind. I explained this on the phone but received only an annoyed reaction (a realistic ETA would have saved 4 hitch-hiking trips).
In the end, the issue (overheating brakes) was benign and could likely have been diagnosed on the phone.”
“I have had a few issues with AA insurance. The first is that the motorhome contents insurance only covers $2000 worth of damage. When my puppy did $5000 worth of damage the insurance didn't even cover the cost of the laptop. The $400 excess is a bit much and when the exterior of the vehicle was damaged in the carwash I had to go to the service station and lay a face to face complaint with the manager to get it covered. For a person with social anxiety this is out of the question. I never followed through with it so the repairs were never done. I also found out that the insurance doesn't cover mechanical breakdowns only accidents. When I asked to cancel my insurance the man told me I would get $101 back but that never showed up in my account. I am a little disappointed in my experience with the AA.”
“What a mockery this outfit is, they are more than happy too take your money but when making a claim they won't budge. Sent in police report and was told it's not good enough and want a proper police report. The police only give one report what are they on about. Had been a customer for many years without making a claim and when we did we were treated like criminals, they wanted an investigation on us, we refused this as we had done nothing wrong and felt this was invading our privacy. When we cancelled our policies they wanted too know why, did they really think that been discriminated against that we would continue with their dodgy service or lack of it.”
“Absolutely suck I have aa + motorhome breakdown first time I’ve tried to use them trying to get to Tauranga hospital urgently have been waiting for two hours in paeroa rung to see where they are to find someone had canceled job so still waiting for someone to turn up really bad service
Will not be renewing not much point they don’t turn up anyway”
“While initially being great to deal with and seeming to be very competitive year on year they increased there rates by 11.3%. They tried to justify this with an increase to building costs. However when asked how this could be considering we hadn’t raised the amount we were insured for so building costs would have no effect on the pay out they couldn’t provide an answer.”
“Recieved a call, out of courtesy at 23:50hrs, that there was going to be another hours delay in getting the tow truck as the person who took the contract towing was stuck in another job. I already waited for 90 minutes.
The question is;
1. AA insurance I am a member of, paying the fee- does a big company that makes all the promises at the time of signing the policy have only one tow truck to service the Auckland region?
2. In the last of the 90 minutes of the waiting time, I get a call that the towing guy is stuck with some other job.
3. If the towing guy was stuck in some other job, why was he allocated the job in the first instance. This is total negligence by AA insurance.
4. This is night time. A lady, stuck on a roadside, the delay and an unexcusable excuse given of the towing contractor stuck in another job, I believe is pathetic.
AA road side assistance NOT TO BE TRUSTED. The company is mostly interested to sell batteries.”

It also arrived within the hour and towed my car to Ross Galt's to repair ignition/key locking fault. Really grateful to AA. Repair finished in two hours and back on the road. I expected it all to take days.. whew!!”
