Okay-ish until you must close your account. Worst service ever; would rate 0 stars if possible. Me and my husband had to close our accounts due to relocation abroad. After closing the account you cannot access your closing statement online despite staff telling you otherwise. The closing statement supposedly sent by mail never arrived for either of us. If you contact them asking to resend your closing statement because a copy is required for the tax return, they tell you they cannot access your account or verify your identity since the account is closed and yes, that is your problem, not theirs. It is also not true, staff with the appropriate rights can; however, getting connected to them is nearly impossible. After hours on the phone they finally agreed to resend the closing statements but cannot send it by registered mail so we will not be able to track it and chances are it may not arrive yet again.

Lack of knowledge of employees I went to Barclays branch in Uxbridge and wanted to find out what the costs of an international transfer are and I found out from an employee of this bank that my country, Poland, is not in Europe and is not in the European Union, the lady actually argued with me. I thought that the employees had some basic knowledge about international banking. Just a joke.

I wish I had read reviews before becoming a Barclays customer. They are so incredibly deceptive, the lure you in by promising account benefits which you won’t get once you actually moved everything over to them (when there is no way back)

Barclay's have no care. I am abroad and the bank issued me a new card without notifying me. Due to an internal Bank fault I am unable to receive messages from Barclay's but do from every other source. So. No card and abroad. No help from Barclays as yet but perhaps an offer to transfer £250. Will not get me Calais as I will be unable to pay tolls without a card. Not only, but would not pay the Ferry fee on top of food and petrol. What a sick joke. I am 78 years and they expect me to hitch hike. I would still have to return to collect my car and luggage. Thanks to the CEO who has not answered a single message for help. May you rot in hell. Thank you customer service who are as useful as a lame duck (poor duck I wish you well). But Barclay's, oh God, how awful. A very sick joke Barclay's Bank, and you wonder why you are no longer in my top 100

I took a taxi ride in Paris and was charged 14.30 Euros per meter. When I looked at my bill, I was charged 24.51. I disputed this charge with Barclays, informing them that I have no documentation other than my word. Barclays initially told me that was ok; second call (I had to wait for the charge to Post), Barclays refused to take the dispute and told me I had to fill it out online (which I did). I informed them I had no documentation and no way to reach the cab driver. Barclays refused the dispute and sent me a chain letter. I have dealt with numerous credit cards over the years and have always found both Citibank and Amex to err on the side of the customer. After many years with Barclay and a lot of money spent, I do not feel that Barclays values me as a customer, and I find it very hard to do business with a company that doesn't have my back. Barclays then asked me to send them a letter with the details (already did that when I submitted the dispute). Thanks for nothing Barclays

I've been with Barclays and had a credit card with them for over 8 years now. I have built my credit card limit from £500 to £7,000 over the years, always paying on time, having no defaults and low balances. Out of nowhere, a couple of days ago, they have decreased my limit to £650. I am going on holiday next week and I have rented a car that required a credit card safety deposit of £1,100 that I can now not cover and will lose the deposit I put down for the car. It is absolutely outrageous to treat long-term, loyal, responsible customers this way. A credit limit that took me 8 years to build, removed in an instance for no reason (other than "your spending on the credit card last year was lower, so it seems that you do not need that high of a credit limit), well thank you very much! Now it is pointless having a credit card when I can't even book a cheap car on a holiday.

Nothing more than a bunch of unprofessional and corrupted 🤡🤡🤡 they supposed to look after customers and their money. But do NOT want to refund disputed transactions.

Do NOT open an account with these MORONS. I've disputed transactions but they are making things awkward to get my money back. They do NOT put their customers first. And your money is not at all safe. They are corrupted

Pity there's not a zero star option. What a shocker of a Bank: a disorganised, bureaucratic mess. Not to be trusted. Transferred my money to their own holding account and don't know how to reverse their mistake! Or, rather, their bureaucrats are so terrified of making a mistake they resort to lies. I haven't yet found out just how high one must go to find someone capable of reaching a decision. Perhaps whejn I reach the Chairperson or a high court judge! They also freeze the proceeds of house sales by many customers who are leaving the UK to take up residence abroad. Choose another bank.

I have been trying to speak to Barclays Customer Services Team since 4pm today, 5th Jan 2024, and they have not answered the call. I called many times and the call was disconnected. I have been on hold now for more than 1 hour and on the previous call I was on hold for 15 minutes, when the call was disconnected. What an appalling service!

Im trying to change my phone number with them, called the phone banking number and was informed there is up to a 40 minute wait for a advisor ! Its just gone one hour and 10 minutes and im still waiting to change my bleeding number ! I would go to my local branch but they closed it last year !!!!!!! Think its time to switch after a unsatisfying 20 years of banking.

So many mistakes .Have put in a complaint. Never get to speak to the same person twice, and have to keep telling them the problem over and over again. Have spoken to 5 people now and problems still not resolved 🤬 useless.

I have banked with Barclays for over 3 decades. They used to be absolutely ok for customer service. Something has gone badly badly wrong. They’ve been asking me to update one of my businesses for months, but have not indicated what information they need. I’ve complained on chat (only way to make a complaint now as site has no complaints form) as the letters they say they have sent have not arrived, and the web form they suggest tells me to wait for the letter. Then they text me to say they are blocking my account and I need to call x number. When I call the number it has a 2 hr wait time (for business banking!). When I log my fourth complaint in two months (all ignored) it says chat is down. What is wrong with this bank? Avoid Avoid Avoid, Nat West MUCH better

!!!!Steer clear!!! !!!!!!Steer clear. Do not take out a mortgage with Barclays !!!!!!! Wife and I recently ported our mortgage with Barclays on a like for like basis with no additional borrowing. Somehow they managed to ad £4000 to our opening balance by mistake. These weren't charges or early repayments it purely is an additional £4k added by mistake. We phoned our broker Samantha Joyce many times when we first spotted the mistake who suddenly is no longer contactable, we then went on to speak to various different staff at Barclays whereby everyone we spoke to said they will put in a complaint and deal with it, nobody from Barclays called us to update us on what was going on so eventually after a month of not getting anywhere we decided to put in a complaint ourselves, this complaint was looked into, Barclays acknowledged that there was a £4k difference in our closing and opening balance and that somewhere a mistake was made. We received a call today from Barclays complaints (we ported our mortgage on 3rd October 2023 today is the 13th of December its taken over 2 months so far) they ring and said that their mortgage broker made the error and not Barclays and therefore Barclays is not at fault. They advised that we get in touch with our Barclays mortgage broker and to take it up with her. Samantha Joyce at Barclays was our broker. Stay well away. Barclays shame on you. We now have to take our complaint to the ombudsman. That's more of our time and effort to resolve something that wasn't our fault at all. We can't update our life insurance policy (we paid off a lump sum) until our balance is correct. Our fixed rate expired in November, this mistake of Barclays forced us to take out another mortgage with Barclays due to the balance being wrong. We are paying extra daily interest on £4k it is just not acceptable
