“I purchased 50 hawthorn trees via eBay. They arrived 10 February '21, and I planted them by March 1st. I wrote to them on 6 April that they showed no signs of life, again on 29 April, and was told that the plants were 'dormant' and I should be patient. On 20th May, I asked for a refund as they all appeared to be dead. I was told I was an idiot to have planted them where I did (in the ground amongst grass) and that there is no refund for incompetence! Buy here at your peril. They take your money and sell you rubbish, and insult you for good measure. Avoid.”
“Passiflora dead on arrival. They claimed it was dormant. As nursery people ( check out our website - Plants Shoots and Leaves) No refund and now not responding to emails. This company gives nursery business a bad name. Do not buy from them.”
“I bought bare root small trees, shurbs, and an Acer. The Acer looked dead on arrival but the response was, its not dead its dormant.
The email correspondance has gone on for weeks and I feel they have treated me like an idiot, the Acer only cost £13, so I'm not sure why they are reluctant
to give a refund. I'm just glad it wasn't something more expensive. I definitely will not be buying from them again.”
“Ordered Hawthorn trees. When they came into leaf they were not the trees we ordered. Terrible customer service. We sent a photo and asked them what they were. No reply at all. Cannot contact them again through ebay.”
“Never buy from Beechwood Nurseries (3fatpigs)
Plants arrived half size of advertised and when I emailed was told this is policy and staff are told to send much smaller plants.
Crooks!
Don’t get caught out.
Avoid Beechwood Nurseries at all costs”
“Bought a Wisteria last year (from eBay). Was in very poor condition when it arrived. Complained about it but seller never bothered to reply. Lo and behold, it is now completely lifeless. Very annoyed that the wisteria has died and very annoyed at the lack of any empathy from this company. Avoid”
“Tree arrived 2 foot shorter than originally bought at price advertised when queried was told prices were increased so sent shorter tree!! I needed a tall tree I was advised couldn’t return so basically had to like it or lump it spent £34.00 on a tree I can’t use and it never survived the awful cling film wrap it was sent through the post with - Will not use this nursery again. NB they advertise on EBay as Beechwood Nurseries or online 3 fat pigs”
“Bought 70no 120-150 beech hedges, bushy and well rooted. My issue is the largest plants I have received are 120cm. The majority are 110-120. The smallest bringing 100-110.
When I questioned at first, I was told I had planted them to deep.
And the second time I contacted they said the overall size includes the roots.
I have worked in the gardening and construction industry for over 30 years and I have never heard such nonsense. Plants are measured from ground.
I thought it was a genuine mistake, and it turns out they are just scam artists.
AVOID!!!!!”
“Bought blackcurrant bushes from them via Ebay, where they were advertising them for sale in 2 litre pots at £7 each. Bought three...and they sent bare rooted plants...not what I ordered or paid for.”
“Received a tree with a pre-existing damaged branch that they advise I remove - leaving it with ONLY TWO branches on one side. Needless to say, it won't stand up and is certainly no use as a heavy bearing fruit tree. Appalling customer service. Far better off planting your money in the ground, than handing it over to them”
“Cowboys!
I ordered 33 red robins, 20-40cm, most were twigs at 10cm high the others bearly 20cm, I emailed then and they said they have been pruned to grown wider???
You cant leave a bad review on their website either.”
“I ordered hedge plants. What arrived did not in anyway resemble the description I ordered. They refuse to replace or refund.
Absolute crooks!
Cowboys!
Don’t ever order from 3fatpigs”
“SUB STANDARD PLANTS AND APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Really wish I had read these reviews before I bought from them. **** AVOID THIS COMPANY ***** I ordered 250 2ft to 3ft bare root hedging plants. Could not believe how small the parcel was when it arrived, on checking I found that 160 plants were less than 2ft tall, in fact 70 ish were only just over 1 ft. Emailed them with a complaint. Bear in mind these are plants that need dealing with quickly. No response after 3 days, so phoned twice, on 4th day a cursory email arrived from Robert. No apologies, no explanation, just a one liner saying if I wasn't happy I could send them back. I asked for a returns label, or I said I would be happy if they replaced the 160 that were too small. Another 4 days later I chased by phone, finally got a one line email saying exactly the same one line as before. Wish I had taken notice of the various review platforms before I ordered. SUB STANDARD PLANTS AND APPALLING”
“Ordered 2 Pink Berry shrubs and paid for 2 pink berry shrubs, then had delivered 2 dark red berry shrubs that I could of got elsewhere for a lot cheaper than the £25 a shrub I paid. Have phoned and left emails, finally got an email back asking for photo's, which I sent quite clearly showing both plant description on the plants and what was on the Invoice and since then not heard anything back.”
“DO NOT USE - Ordered 2 Euonymus Europaeus with pink berries and paid extra for the pink berries version £25.99 each and have been sent 2 with deep red berries which I could of got at half the price, have emailed and phoned and they just pickup and put down the phone - criminals”
“I ordered two 5' bare root Himalayan beech trees. I was shocked to find two 5' long twigs with literally pencil thin stems and zero branches. If they survive which I doubt because the root system is virtually none existent it will take years to resemble anything close to a tree. They should not be trading. I blame myself for not researching better. Judging by the comments on this site it would be a waste of time trying to recover any monies. EXPENSIVE TWIGS”
“Just received 5 shrubs from beechwood nurseries, very disappointed with the quality of the plants and the packaging, however I will plant them out and see what happens. As you can imagine I will not be ordering anything else from this company.”
