I was looking at a Chevy Suburban. I fell in love with Suburbans when my dad bought his first one when I was 14. Well, the Carfax showed great records with one owner for the vehicle. I knew for sure it was a winner, though, when I saw that the dealership acquired it on my dad's birthday. After purchasing it, I found the original sticker in the glove box just like my dad would have done. And, it is a wonderful vehicle.

This is not that I purchased a car but because of Car Fax i did not purchase ! Found out thru Car Fax that the car has many accidents and was owned by many. The owner did not disclose this and gave the impression that this was not the case. This was not the first time that Car Fax allowed me to avoid a purchase. I will not purchase a car without Car Fax

We were looking to replace my wifes 1993 volvo 940 wagon ( which my 18 year old daughter now drives) and found a 2008 subaru outback for sale by owner. The car was immaculate and the carfax showed 1owner and 1accident. We talked extensively to the owner and found out the mishap occurred right after they purchased it. We had a chance to talk to the repair shop and found out they were very reputable and did quality work. We ended up making an offer on the car below blue book value and now drive that great car. We have used carfax twice since then and have found the information obtained to be very valuable in making used car purchase decisions. Great product with great useful information. I would highly recommend carfax to anyone purchasing a used vehicle. Dan from Detroit.

My boyfriend had found a pre-owned car in another state. He was anxious to drive 8 hours in a snowstorm to pick up the car. Obviously, I expressed my concern in a oh so loving way. :-) He explained that the dealer sent him a car report that showed the car was 'clean.' He did say it wasn't a carfax report. We hung up the phone at odds. A few minutes later he called me back to say that he made one of the best decisions $40 could buy him. He ran a carfax report only to reveal that the dealer's report was incorrect. This car had been in an accident, towed away and then sent off to auction. Needless to say, my boyfriend did not purchase the car. He is now the proud owner of another pre-owned car that he found locally and of course, used carfax once again! So thank you carfax for saving our relationship! You ain't so bad kid! :-)

My son age 19 wanted to buy a 2013 Mustang (in Ohio) from a Craig's List ad (we're in Illinois). After several conversations between my husband, my son and the person who listed the ad, it was agreed that they would all meet in Ohio, cash in hand, to buy the vehicle. Here is where I come in. Ta Da! I asked them if they wanted to do a VIN search to see the activity on the car before going out there. The responses from my husband and son were amazing -- Nah, won't be necessary! I did it anyway (!) and found that the car had been in an accident. They revealed this to the seller who verified the information and reassured us through repair receipts that the accident was minor and would not affect the car's performance.

I have used Carfax on every vehicle I have been interested in purchasing. I was looking to get a 1999 GT Mustang but could not understand why the car had so many problems after looking at it. Took the vin number down, Pulled a carfax and Bammmmm!!!!! It was a Salvage vehicle.

I was going to buy this Ford F-550 used truck from an eBay seller who advertised it as "you can drive it anywhere and will run just fine." But mileage was supposed to be "around 100K" but "not for sure due to broken odometer." I decided to pay for a CarFax report and I found out the truck had 250000 miles on the clock five years ago (the last time the odometer was read officially and recorded). The CarFax information helped me stay away from that truck.

I didn't use carfax when I bought my lincoln MKT last October because it was wrecked and came with a salvage title. I've bought & fixed many vehicles over the years and have never had the trouble I've had with this one. It had been wrecked before and was deemed a total loss by the insurance company, yet it was repaired & put back on the lot of a reputable Lincoln dealer & sold with a clean title. The happy new owner had it 10 days & totalled it again. A salvage dealer I've dealt with for years bought it from an insurance auction &sold it to me. Thank you Carfax for having enough of the info to better inform me about this vehicle's condition. The original "repair"to the front subframe was subpar leaving it to move around, therefore alignment was unsuccessful. Finally go that secured & I have a very nice vehicle back on the road. Don't know who did the original rebuild, but they should be closed down. Thanks again Carfax.p.s. just because it has a "clean " title does not mean it hasn't had severe damage. Get the Carfax!

I almost bought a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS looked very good until I ran a Car Fax and saw that it had been rear ended and it was reported to Insurance as well. I couldn't see anything physically wrong but just knowing that it was in an accident I had to walk away. About a year later I found my dream car in a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1 owner I might add and it was low miles immaculate and thanks to Car Fax everything was clean! Thanks Car Fax! All that is now missing is that Car Fox to put in my 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS! :)

Like everyone else, I was look for an extraordinary automobile bargain that was not only reliable, but also satisfied a fairly narrow set of desirable criteria for the car I wanted to buy. Initially, the super-wide selection available on the internet from Cars.com, KBB, Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Ebay, Amazon, etc., etc. etc.; was overwhelming in its magnitude. CARFAX was the singularly most informative, trusted and user-friendly tool available. The ability to track the history of repairs, accidents, repairs, mileage and emissions testing of each car helped me whittle the list of potential purchases down to four really excellent local choices. When I located the best of those choices; a mint-condition, low-mileage, scrupulously-serviced, loaded with every factory and dealer option except surround sound, 1999 Volvo V70 XC in my favorite color for under $3000 ($2490); I was ecstatic!! And when I was able to get an additional $100 off because the CARFAX report informed me that it had been in the dealer's back lot for the last three months, I was fully satisfied I had gotten the best deal I have ever experience in all my 45 years of car buying. I had happily paid $2500 in 2000 for a low-mileage, well-maintained 1981 Volvo 245dl that originally sold for $12,300 new. Paying $2,390 for this pristine 1999 V70 XC that originally sold for $38,000 new would not have been possible without CARFAX. The $60.21 (including sales tax) I paid for the unlimited CARFAX reports option saved me from having to spend $100-300 per vehicle to have them properly inspected. The only improvement i can think of is that there should be no limit on the number of reports you can get using the VIN for identification. Getting the license number for used cars over the phone can be a very time-consuming and grueling experience.
