“It gave a good listing of recorded maintenance and the various states in which the car was registered. It shows it was damaged but no details on the type or whether or not that damage was properly repaired or if it could cause future problems. It did show a discrepancy between recorded mileage and dealer's listed mileage, which may indicate that the mileage had been changed. All in all, it was helpful in determining whether or not I was interested in buying it.”

“This low mileage truck has clearly had something done to it as the engine appears to be not the original but nothing indicates it on the report. It cannot tell you what an individual may or may not have done to it.”

“I would have rated Carfax higher however I was only able to view my report. In the past I've been able to download it. This time it did not allow me to download it and that was very disappointing since I purchased the car.”

“What I wanted to know it did not tell me. I knew the car was salvaged. I wanted to know why. It just said that the car had been salvaged.”

“Worst problem is you cannot talk to anybody and have to wait for an email reply.I was doing a time sensitive deal. There were errors on the report and this jeaporized the transaction. The mistake was corrected after the deal was done but I had to go elsewhere to confirm the error made by Carfax.”

“Carfax is helpful but expensive, I suggested to my son that was purchasing his 1st car, to be aware of buying a lemon, so he'll get the vin of the cars/trucks he was interested in and I would get the carfax”

“While Carfax is a good tool to add to the car purchase toolbox it may be causing consumers to lose value on their vehicles unnecessarily. Particularly the “Damage” category which lacks enough detail to show if just a plastic bumper cover was scratched and scuffed needing cosmetic repair or if the vehicle hit or was hit by something requiring mechanical repair in addition to cosmetics. Meaning that a car with cosmetic damage (Shopping cart scuffs or parking garage pole) takes a big hit against its resale value which may not be commensurate with the extent of the damage.”

“Pretty sure the price went up quite a bit. Too expensive for the amount of information provided. It's easy for people to hide things from carfax. I guess it's just good for peace of mind. But doesn't mean much in the long run. $45 is too much money.”
