“I was trying to find a list of all the previous owners of a 1976 classic motorcycle. The motorcycle is going on show, so I’m trying to put together a history for it. The search did not give me any information I didn’t have already, so it was a waste of money. I should have read more closely what information the search provided.”

“I only used them as the headline price was £6.65 for a check. It is actually £14.99. Most checks online with other similar companies are £9.99. I shouldn't have click 'buy' so quickly. My fault, but not good value for money.”

“Got my report from Cazana to be told that the car I was thinking of buying was a CatN Wright off, but the site tells you nothing about CatN or what the damage was to the car. I think you be told what the damage to the car was so you can then make a decision on weather to buy or not!!”

• Cat N ( Formerly Cat D) – Vehicles graded accordingly haven’t sustained structural damage, so the issue may be cosmetic, or a problem with the electrics that isn’t economical to repair. Don’t assume such vehicles are drivable, however; non-structural faults may include brakes, steering or other safety-related parts. There are many different types of car insurance write-off – including some vehicles that can be repaired and put back on the road and some that must be destroyed and never used again. A Category D insurance write-off falls into the former class: it can legally return to the road, so long as it complies with specific rules governing the various stages of its return to use on the public highway. For a complete overview of the different categories of car insurance write-off, read our article "What is an insurance write-off?" Firstly though, what causes a Cat D write-off? Quite often, nothing more than light damage. It generally means the vehicle has been lightly damaged but the financial cost of repairing the car outweighs its market value. In short, it is not economical to repair – remember, car insurance companies look at the total cost of repair here, including hire cars, expensive-to-source parts for particular models and so on. Cat D status can sometimes be for very minor damage, if the rest of the repair process is deemed to be more than the car is worth.This does not mean it can’t be put back on the road, however. “response was quick------4 other vehicles appeared on the info sheet saying I had looked at these vehicles which I had not-----it may be possible to get this kind of check for free elsewhere if you look around---a bit expensive at £14”

“The Gold check is advertised as £6.99 buy in reality you pay £9.99 for information of which most can be obtained free of charge on the .gov website. Don't forget to read the terms and conditions before you make a purchase as it clearly states that there are no guarantees to the information provided. I'm not sure If I would pay for this service again.”

“Lots of good information provided. However, printer friendly version didnt show all of report. HPI check allows to print off whole report but Cazana doesn't. Whereas HPI (via RAC) sends email with whole report attached Cazana only sends a link.”

“I couldn't access the online report and had to call them, the lady on the end of the telephone was very helpful, she sent me a link which took me to an online report. The advertised price is the same false advertising technique that everyone seems to have adopted, a big advert stating £3.99 but you discover that only applies if you purchase a package of multiple checks, check just the one vehicle and it is £14.99 I don't feel I received value for money.”

“It as ok. Had most the important information. However it did not contain the vehicles VIN number which is strange. How else does one confirm the VIN number or Engine number! hence important information is missing.”

“I was expecting more from the history check than what I got.I thought it would include proof of mileage from the national mileage register or main dealer.Apart from this though it had everything else needed. My only other criticism was that the number of owners was written in small print and not easy to see. It is an important detail which I think should be highlighted.”
