About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“We love this night stand. We were able to order one with slightly different dimensions. It fits perfectly into a tight space and is just what we needed. The craftsmanship is terrific! Highly recommend Chilton and their furniture.”

“The Shaker Lateral File Cabinet is a beautiful piece of furniture. It has the capacity to hold as many files as a typical 3-4 drawer tall cabinet, but is so much more attractive. The drawers glide smoothly. I decided to purchase a glass top to protect the surface. I'm glad I made this purchase!”

“The Shaker Writing Desk is a very attractive piece of furniture and practical as well. The desktop area is more than adequate as a workspace. I'm glad that I decided to purchase a glass top to keep the surface protected. The two drawers are small, but will hold enough of my necessary items. In the summer humidity, I notice that one of the drawers swelled a bit, making it sticky to open and shut. Overall, I am happy with this purchase.”

“We have had very good experiences with Chilton Furniture. We absolutely love the design and quality of their furniture. It is especially gratifying to know that they are products of the USA and made locally. The showrooms are lovely and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This includes the sales staff and the delivery personnel. We ordered several pieces of furniture via both showroom and phone order. Because the furniture is locally crafted and not mass produced, we did not mind waiting for our furniture to be delivered. We own the Burnette queen bed, Shaker lateral file and Shaker writing desk. We are very happy with our Chilton quality furniture!”

“The most comfortable chair ever. The craftsmanship makes this chair not only very functional but a work of art. Shaker style of furniture has been the hallmark for comfort, craftsmanship and beauty since our country was founded. It's very reassuring to see that there are craftsmen that are still making quality furniture the way it was made centuries ago. Great Job, Great Furniture!”

“This furniture store is incredible! The showroom is customer friendly, easy to move around try out the chairs, etc. We especially liked the layout of dining, bedroom, and living room furniture. We have bought several Chilton pieces including a spacious China cabinet, corner hutch, a bookcase, a rocking chair. Most recently we purchased an entertainment center for our 55 in TV. We have returned to the store several several times because of the quality of the furniture and friendliness of the staff. They keep excellent records so that the type of wood and color of the stain is always matched. We highly recommend shopping at this wonderful store in Freeport and highly recommend it to all!”

“The only knock on Chilton is that their skilled craftsman do not work 24-hours a day, seven days a week. A short wait for beautiful furniture is a small price to pay for such quality.”

“I got this bed in May in queen-size cherry and love it. It was put together in less than twenty minutes after delivery and the cherry wood itself had a nice faint, slightly sweet scent of good wood. The support from the wood slats is excellent. The finish is impeccable. This was my first purchase of a piece of Chilton furniture and I've recommended it, and Chilton for their customer service (shoutout to Zac B.), to many friends, as it will last a lifetime.”

“Our Bethel suite of bedroom furniture is everything I hoped it would be.
