“What has gone wrong? We have bought a wide range of dishes over the past three years. The quality and taste were excellent. We rated them above premium supermarket dishes. Highly recommended to friends. Recently we have noticed that quality, taste and quantity have diminished. The curries we had this evening were a real disappointment. Sadly you have lost our custom.”

“Fish Pie for two. Dreadful. Lumpy. Mostly tasteless mash and horrid brown tough smoked haddock. I’m a newish customer and had good mushroom wellington and a couple of puddings which were ok. In future I’ll stick with Iceland.”

“Drunken noodles with king prawns!!!!! £5.95.... 3 prawns in it the size of my finger nail! Full of rice noodles and that's about it... absolutely shocking”

“Just tried to eat the salmon and asparagus gratin but it was so salty we couldn’t eat much of it. Fortunately we had steamed veg to accompany it which had no salt added. We have been regular customers of Cook for a few years but have noticed the meals getting over flavoured- too salty, too spicy, too herby. Sadly won’t be buying from Cook again.”

“Don't Buy anything Here! O stars as I had to put 1 to be able to write this review. I bought a Shepard's Pie today for me and my husband.. the large one that serves 2.. apparently! @£9.50 so you expect a decent size meal for that price! Absolute rip off.. you may as well say it was a potatoe pie, there wasn't much pototoe either! Barely any lamb or sauce or carrots.. a disgrace really. We were both still very hungry after and very disappointed and angry. Luckily I had a decent portion of veg on the side! Never again. You should be ashamed of yourself COOK'S!! No wonder your shops are always EMPTY!!!”

“On recommendation I ordered a Christmas meal for 2 DONT BOTHER - total rip off! This was the worst Christmas meal Ive ever ordered the meal for two Stuffed Turkey Breast for Two was nothing like the image the rolled turkey & stuffing was 80% stuffing & 20% meat which was tough – very overpowered by the stuffing mix The pigs in blankets were inedible - so salty & awful flavour Roast potatoes were mushy on the inside like they were bad potatoes when prepared Carrots with Orange & Thyme didn’t taste at all any different than usual carrots I was so excited to try the meal as it had come highly recommended by 3 different people – But never again, I wish I had just bought all my own ingredients & cooked from scratch Plus, wouldn’t have cost as much”

“I ordered some food With them, I had a voucher gift , when I passed the order I booked a slot everything went well, but they put me on subscription and I never received any email about that, they took another payment, did a delivery without organizing any date, a throw the parcel over the fence during the holidays , when I came back I had to put everything in the bin, I would not recommend this website”

“Bought Steak in wine pie as a treat,what a disappointment the pastry was like cardboard and about as thin ,inside was just full of hard carrot and no other veg and very little meat.i could have bought a pie from anywhere, at 9.95 for two this was supposed to Be a treat.so disappointed never again”

“Ordered the Christmas dinner for two and it was amazing, the stuffed turkey was tender and delicious, the roast parsnips and potatoes were equally delicious because of the seasoning and I also ordered a raspberry pavlova 10/10. Thanks Cook! We will be ordering again!”

“We had the salmon and asparagus meal. I have had it in the past and it was always lovely but this one was not nice. Asparagus was so woody I couldn’t eat it and it just wasn’t tasty. Shame. I certainly won’t buy it again .”

“We used to order from cook years ago and it was fabulous, not so this Christmas. The dauphinois potatoes just turned to mush , the carrots, no matter how long you cooked them for were hard and tasteless and the beef bourguignon needed cooking far longer than the instructions and was ok but just not enough meat. We will not be buying from them anymore.”

“Bought the Fish Pie for 8 for Christmas Eve. Cooked exactly as per instructions. It was awful. Mash topping was like a solid slab of something that bore little resemblance to the "buttery mash" described on the website. We also had the Salmon En Croute with Beetroot which was bland, dry and tasteless. We all had indigestion overnight. We have bought from Cook regularly over the years and were early supporters but after a number of appalling experiences in the past year we will not be buying again and would not recommend. Even the tried and tested Dauphinoise is a poor relation of what was originally produced by Cook. Quality and quantity has gone down hill.”

“We purchased the Christmas dinner for two. So disappointed. The turkey was acceptable. The carrots and parsnips were rock hard even after extra cooking. The sprouts and leeks were a total mush. The pigs in blankets just fell apart (the bacon used was so fatty). Unfortunately we chose the spinach and horseradish stack as a starter. Just full of stringy spinach. We will not be shopping there again.”

“I have been a frequent purchaser from Cook, in Hale Altrincham many many times, over several years; I was always very very satisfied. However, in 2022, I bought over £150 of canapés, and a full Christmas dinner for 6 people with extra dishes. The dinner was good; The canapés were so small that I was actually uncomfortable serving them to my guests; I did advise Cook, Hale of this, and they said they would note and report to the HO. They also graciously Offered me compensation. . I continued to shop there, following the ‘canapé disappointment’, and have purchased numerous items of meals for 8, 2,4. 2, 1, party deserts, Pate, all sorts; embracing the idea of ease and the fact that cook is ‘home made’ without additives. However, for Christmas 2024, I purchased several meal items, etc and different products to serve 4 people. Sadly, I have been Disappointed with three fishes I have eaten do far - I still have more items in my freezer. - the steak and red wine pie, was sadly lacking in meat and filling, and the meat seemed of poor quality, and was not tender. The filling overall, was inadequate for 4 people. - the chicken and leek pie, fared a little better. But again, the meat was not of good quality, and the pie was again, Inadequate for 4. - the new lobster thermadore starters were again Inadequate with minimal filling, albeit the taste was very nice. I really hope that Cook, will look to address these issues. It will be disappointing, if corners are cut. I would rather that Cook increased their prices sensibly, if needs be, rather than reduce quality and quantity. I hope the many other items currently in my freezer are less disappointing.
