“Dont normally go for frozen meals but thought I would give COOK a try...I am sorry I just don't get the hype...tried savoury and sweet dishes/meals....just not for me at all.....perhaps my expectations are just too high. At least I know now.....good luck to your brand...you obviously do have a 'following'....just not me.”
“Have used Cook over a few years, but now is time to say enough is not enough! The size of the dishes and the quantity of meat and other ingredients in their dishes has really gone downhill. My last purchase, a chicken pie, was really poor. Mainly gravy little chicken. in comparison my husband had a cheaper steak pie from a butchers - larger and full of meat filling. Have found similar issues with their Thai meals.”
“I enjoy much of COOK food but have become very disappointed recently. Classic Fish Pie (Batch 000878) is an example ... too much mash topping and not enough fish... and plump king prawns were a joke in our last pie for two: none in my portion and two in my husband’s portion.”
“Having purchased their Chicken ham and leek pies I can only describe them has disappointing and in my opinion the company is not to the standard it thinks it is”
“Have enjoyed Cook meals for several years and recommended to my friends. Well they have changed. I have recently tried Butter Chicken, Fish pie, Cottage pie and others. Bland tasteless chicken, tough gristly ,tasteless meat,
Very dry. What has happened? Have you changed hands?
Won’t be buying again.”
“Gave the fish pie another chance last night.
The recipe has changed and overall far too dry,no sign of any sauce.
Won’t buy again . Shame they were nice once..”
“my son ordered from you as a treat for us new years day. the steak and ale pie had fatty bits and grizzle. chicken ham and leek pie was dry and tastless. the stew and cheese dumplings hasnt been tried as yet. nor has the chicken and mushroom. The pavola has got to be the worst i have tasted. put in the bin. so we as a family wont be using again”
“We have had a few of your frozen foods which were ok on the whole. But yesterday we had your cottage pie which was extremely insipid and dry. I am afraid to say the Tesco finest cottage pie which we had tonight was far better and I mean that.
It may have been just a one off cook cottage pie but unlikely.”
“Beef Bourgogne delicious. Dauphinois potatoes far too much garlic. Nut and veg stacks were awful , not a good flavour and horrible consistency. Mince pies were wonderful as usual.”
“Basil and Mascarpone Chicken. Great sauce that would have accompanied good quality chicken well but unfortunately the chicken, with the sauce removed, was tough, like a broiler.”
“I had the chicken and mushroom lasagne this evening. There was 2 tiny pieces mushroom and the chicken was chewy and tasteless the sauce was not very nice either. Very disappointed. Unfortunately didn’t take a photograph and it’s in the food waste bin now!”
“Bought potato dauphines which consisted of 4 slices of potatoes a few breadcrumbs and some tasteless cheese. It was a side for 1 and filled about an 1/8th of the container it came in. Cost £1.50! TOTAL RIP OFF. And tasted of nothing! The cost of cooking it tolled up the price!”
“This is fabulous! I’m a new gluten free person but Cook do such a great range and I no longer feel like I’m missing out! Have this evening thoroughly enjoyed a Portobello Mushroom risotto (added extra veg to make a hearty meal) & served my husband a GF Moroccan Lemon Chicken dish. He is always sceptical of change, so best not to tell him (nor that his too was GF)...he was delighted and said he thoroughly enjoyed it!
This was our first online order - impressed by easy ordering, the range (desserts too) and the communication from the company, letting me know when order would arrive etc. In the past we have bought from a local store who had a limited range. Won’t hesitate to place another order - restaurant quality and a real treat during the pandemic!”
“Bought a fish pie today which was very disappointing. Lots of potatoes, some large prawns which were quite chewy and very little fish. Not up to expectations and certainly not value for money”
“My husband and I have enjoyed several meals from Cook over the past year, and the desserts have always been scrumptious! However, last week I purchased a couple of dishes including one of my favourites, Bramley Apple & Blackberry Crumble. All went well until I served it onto the dishes, and I realised that there wasn`t a single blackberry in sight! It was purely an Apple Crumble! Who forgot to put the blackberries in? It was a very nice apple crumble, but disappointing as it was not what it said on the label.”
“Perfectly pleasant but not as good as expected. We had high expectations of Cook meals having read reviews and from word of mouth. Each meal was fine but in terms of quality and quantity it was lacking. The meals for one were of a size appropriate to a good sized starter but not a main course. The quality/taste was ok but not good enough to want to repeat.”
“We used to quite enjoy Cook, but, in recent months, all of the meals we’ve purchased have been virtually inedible. I’m referring to the pad Thai, Moroccan lemon chicken, and chicken and ham pie. There have been a few others, too, unfortunately. Even the boeuf bourgignon, which is normally quite tasty, had quite a strange flavour last time we had it. I don’t think we’ll be going back, I’m afraid. It’s a pity, as I do like the concept.”
