“When you first look at a new house, you just don’t see all the things until you go cleaning and then all of a sudden you realize how crappy the fit and finishes on so many things. Window seals, etc. have no finish to the edges. They’re raw wood that have never even been sanded. The paint and the texture of the walls is horrible. You can’t even clean the walls without the paint coming completely off, I have nail pop ups everywhere so many that it’s ridiculous to even try to fix them ..hundreds . The overall house I love I love the design but the quality behind the walls and the furnishings is just subpar to say the least and these houses are getting more and more expensive. You just expect more out of a house that cost so much they had to come out and completely redo my stairs because they were so goofed up in the corners Where they had put all this caulking and paint and stain it look like my stairs had cancer growing out of the corner of them . So my suggestion is to really look at your walls and your finishes before you sign on the dotted line and make sure they fix all that stuff corners of my walls have just frayed a part and nobody even touches them. It’s like they’ve turned into cardboard on the corners.. and this happened within my warranty time, and the guy that came out to look at other things I needed insisted that I had bumped up against it, and I promise you that is not the case. My laundry room frame at the top of the door on both sides of the wall have a crack going from the corner to the ceiling diagonally and they won’t cover that that happened within two years of living here.. so I am just giving you fair warning of things to check out before you commit things that you just might turn a blind eye to when you’re looking because you’re overwhelmed like I was but when you really get in there and start looking, you will realize the textures of things were not finished and very rough.”
“We were very satisfied with the home purchasing process Eastwood Homes provided. The home is beautiful and the quality of work looks very good. Randi and John were both extremely helpful and receptive to our needs. We still have some issues with kitchen cabinets and some repairs which are still pending. Would appreciate to have these expedited so we can have the repairs completed. One aspect of the process which we did not agree with is; when we performed our final walk-through before closure date, my expectation was to find little things which needed repairs, though some repairs were very obvious, such as kitchen cabinet cracks, drawers not closing properly, microwave/oven not set in cabinets properly, etc.. To us, these should be considered obvious observations which should have been noticed, tested by the installers then repaired before our walk-through. I'm not sure how your quality control processes work with your sub-contractors, but it appears they should provide better quality before my final sign-off. Thank you. Vincent Vono”
“The interaction with builder, sales rep, design center and lender was phenomenal. The only issue is the yard and how it was finished. The sod was terribly laid and the back yard is totally unusable for several months due to the swamp of red clay it is.”
“I love my new home. I especially like the builder on site he was great to work with and always willing to answer any questions. This is my second home from Eastwood and I will always recommend them to others.”
“I love all the staff and the floor plan. What disappoints me is that I have to seal the granite and the grout and paint the garage. All of the houses that I bought had all three finished. The grout as sealed by the tile persons. The granite was sealed by the installer. And the painters sprayed the garage interior. Why am I paying to "finish" work? Other than that It's been great.”
“The home we chose was a model already under construction, so we weren't able to choose any options. We like the options chosen overall. The plans we were given showed the stairs made of wood. They carpeted instead. The builder credited is the cost to do it, which is fine. I just would've preferred not to have a contractor do it after the fact. We've only been in the home 3 days, but are loving it so far.
My wife didn't like the guy doing the walkthrough because he was irritated with her, the realtor and my mother in law. Travis was great. The women were busy talking about decorating so he was understandably annoyed when they asked questions on things he already explained. I only bring this up because she filled out the review at the closing and of she gave him a negative review, it was unwarranted.”
“Overall the experience was great. Sherri really picked a great plot for me. She listened to what I was looking for. Her honesty was very much appreciated. I didn't feel like she was trying to sell me something. I honestly felt she genuinely cared about what I was looking for in a new home. Chris was great as well. He was very thorough in explaining the building process. Overall I couldn't be happier.”
“We are pleased with the home. I would suggest on further models of this home that a larger pantry in the kitchen be included, a utility tub in the garage, a three car garage that you can actually fit 3 larger size cars, and a linen closed in the master bedroom. As for the lot, I must say we are totally dissatisfied. When we purchased the property we made it very clear to the sales agent that the lot was a big factor in our offer on the house. At the time of purchase, nothing was indicated to us that there was a so called common area on our lot which comprises more than a third of it. We are not familiar with common areas, but the name in itself indicates an area that is in use for everybody. We don't understand why our lot configuration has so much of a common space. And to date, we have not received a clear and simple response as to why this property can not be deeded to us.”
“We had some hiccups with a preinspection and a few issues afterwards that we're more than we expected a new home to have. There were/are also some cospetic defects and "never completed" parts of the build that leave you wishing it was more polished, such as tile grout sections missing & gaps, cabinets separating from the walls, bath tubs not secured to anything, etc...
So far things are being addressed at our schedule so I can't take less than a star off.
Overall were pleased and very excited to be in our new home. All the issues were having are new to us as new home buyers, but they're not major.”
“Overall, we love our home! However, we discovered a few issues after moving in. The Master Bathroom Shower leaks water out through the Shower Door and we had to change the Lock on the Front Door because the key would get stuck in the Locy Cylinder.
Aside from these two issues, we very happy with our Home at this point.”
