“Don’t you ever but ever rent a car from this company!!! Bad employees. Rude people! The cars don’t have insurance and they make you pay for an upgrade full of problems trying to make you pay for the damage. Very careful with these guys!!!”
“Do not rent a car from EasyRent Bulgaria! They are fraudulent! They provided us with a car that had existing damage, and since it was nighttime, the representative did not accompany us for the check. When we returned the car, they refused to inspect it. The next day, they charged my credit card $1,000 for damage that was already there, and they tampered with my signature!**”
“Their office is in the arrivals hall of the airport, the process of signing the documents was fast, the conditions were stated clearly, the car was the newest model of a Skoda fabia 2024, the service and the helpfulness of the staff was perfect, not the last time taking a car from that agency”
“People complain, but I have never faced problems during my rentals, I am using regularly their service never through a booking agency, the deposit is returned as their conditions state, the cars are new and I often receive higher class than booked, the prices are unbeatable, that’s all a customer need”
“No MOT so we got fined by the police. We were told the company will cover it but the fine has not been paid yet, 20 days later.. same as my deposit (over £500). Do not use this company”
“DES VOLEURS !!!!!
Ne surtout pas prendre de location de voiture avec eux !
Nous n’avons toujours pas récupérer notre caution de début mai 2024, qu’il débite de votre compte sans vous prévenir !!!
Il vous demande de faire une vidéo du véhicule sans faire de Check-in, même en insistant sinon il ne vous prête pas la voiture.
Fuyez cette agence !
THIEVES !!!!!
Do not rent a car with them!
We still have not recovered our deposit from the beginning of May 2024, which it debits from your account without warning you!!!
He asks you to take a video of the vehicle without doing Check-in, even if he insists otherwise he will not lend you the car.
Flee this agency!”
“I see a lot of people frustrated regarding their service, but my experience was excellent, no worries, no problems with the deposit and the car was very good, consider the car you book and the conditions”
“Excellent experience at Sofia airport. We got the newest model of Renault Clio V 2024 at only 22km. I was the first person to ever drive it and it felt amazing, greetings to the team”
“1. Car booked for 1pm collection at terminal 1 as per documentation and voucher provided by Rentalcar.com. Have to go to terminal 2. No sight of car at 1.30 and being told every 15 min another 10 min and that it’s coming.
2. Rude and unpleasant and telling me how long my journey will take considering I am the one driving with a child!!!
3. Car arrives and it is clearly been in some sort of collision scratched and bumped all over. Really battered and interior extremely warn out.
4. They do not just keep the reserve on the credit card with the blocked £500. They take the full amount out and you are charged international fees by the credit card company.
5. A stone from a truck cracks the windscreen. This should be normal damage and covered by their own insurance however they charge the full deposit for the replacement.”
“They don't deserve even 1 star. The positive reviews are probably fake. Just read the 1-star reviews and you'll find out the truth. We all have similar experiences, mainly regarding the old cars, not getting our deposits back, and excess charges for unreal damages. I can't give you specific advice, but personally, I would never rent a car from a Bulgarian rental car company. Just go with a reputable company and avoid all the problems.
Easy Rent will pressure you to buy additional cover, which costs more than the amount you paid for the rental. I'm pretty sure the staff gets commissions for this. It's also useless; it doesn't guarantee anything. The only difference is that the deposit will be lower, but you'll likely lose it anyway.
Long story short:
We rented a car for our holiday in Bulgaria, only to find it in a much worse condition than advertised. Despite numerous scratches and a damaged side door, when we complained, we were simply told to take it or leave it. Unfortunately, with two small children, we had no other option but to take the car. The car was a different type (we've paid for an estate), not just a different make and model. We had difficulty fitting in the suitcases. The car had over 200,000 kilometers on the clock; it felt like driving an old Russian car. It took 20 minutes and 3 different people to figure out how to open the boot (which was actually kind of funny). The fuel tank wasn't full, and the staff member told me it was "two-thirds full." How on earth can you calculate returning it with the same amount?
However, the real issue arose upon returning the car to Sofia Airport on April 12th, 2024. Despite my assurance that the scratch on the front wheel was pre-existing, backed by a video I took on April 3rd, before our departure, the rental staff were uninterested and hostile. They refused to show photos from the previous rental to confirm the scratches' pre-existence and dismissed my threats of legal action, claiming no lawyer in Bulgaria could help.
Moreover, they charged a 3,000 leva deposit, significantly higher than other companies, promising its return within 30 working days. Yet, countless reviews on platforms like Trustpilot and Tripadvisor detail similar experiences of customers never receiving their deposits back. To exacerbate matters, on April 12th, they withdrew an additional 3,000 leva to cover the alleged cost of repairing the scratched wheel, without providing a garage quote. Considering the state of the car, I doubt such a minor repair would justify such a steep charge. Also, judging by the car's condition, they likely wouldn't repair the wheel anyway, as they never repaired the existing damages.
The staff's rudeness and unprofessionalism only compounded our frustration. In the UK, this kind of behavior would result in penalties, but it seems Easy Rent Bulgaria's deceitful practices are tolerated. It's disheartening that these individuals represent Bulgaria to departing tourists, leaving a bitter aftertaste regardless of how enjoyable the holiday was.
While I'm unsure of the impact of sharing this experience, I feel a duty to report and fight for my rights against such unethical practices. The best thing we can do as consumers is to not use this company and report all problems to the main platforms. Check the website for The European Car Rental Conciliation Service and only rent from participating companies. I have learned my lesson, as I was reminded why I don't live in Bulgaria anymore.
I have filed complaints with my credit card company, Rentalcars dot com, Booking dot com, Ryanair dot com, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the Consumer Protection Commission. If the issue isn't resolved, I plan to file a Small Claim with the European Court of Justice. To all the other people scammed by Easy Rent, I suggest you do the same”
“Our experience was amazing, took full protection through the company and drove the rented car to Greece, the process was easy and the staff was very polite and helpful”
“I took a car from the airport for a week, the process was very easy and I didn’t have any issues, read your conditions carefully and you will not have any problems”
“DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM, THEY WILL STEAL YOUR DEPOSIT.
They have stolen my deposit because they said that I returned the car in a very dirty state, which is a lie.”
