“Great app and great concept. The initial loading can sometimes have issues but closing and reopening will usually fix. Child’s favorite is making their own book because they didn’t love all the existing book options.”

“I am loving this app! I have the ability to go behind my son and check his progress. It tells me how many words per minute, how many books, and how long on each book! And that’s not all. This app is great! The only thing that I wish was different, is that we could use it on the android phone. The way it helps his with his tougher words is a great plus also!”

“My son has struggled with learning to read for a long time and now comes to me daily now asking to do his reading. We do two books a night and he’s read 30 books so far. I’m truly amazed with his progress and Ello has been a huge part of that. His speech therapy teacher is impressed with his improvement since starting as well. I’m recommending this to everyone I know, another friend plans to try it with their adult students with developmental disabilities. Great app and affordable price, also great customer service. Would give 5 stars but the apps “catch up” ability does give the ability to skip sentences if they read the last word aloud.”

“Overall good. It accepts incorrect words quite a bit if the first consonant and vowel are correct (ie sat vs sad, mat vs mad etc). They need to work on that.”

“So far we are loving Ello!! My son is really enjoying this app to help with his reading 🎉🤗 the only 2 things need to be fixed/updated is that it often can’t hear you no matter how loud you are when getting a word correct which is frustrating for the child. The second is when he gets a word wrong it more often then not it doesn’t catch it and just moves on which means you have to sit right next to then the whole time to correct the errors so they learn and so the app doesn’t just move on and you think you reading it correctly. But over all it’s a great experience and once those two things get updates/fixed it will be a 10/10🤗🎊”

“We love the books, but sometimes I have noticed that even if my child says the wrong word, it counts it right. I also feel that when it’s a buddy read, the elephant reads way too fast for struggling reader.”

“Love Ello for my child BUT as a parent I’d like a section to actually go through and see things like issues they’re having, improvements, books read and things that could help them. Instead of getting emails every so often. Being able to view progress and things as such would be very helpful for me.”

“My children are really enjoying Ello. They are willing to spend more time per session working on their reading than with a paper book because of the novelty of using an iPad, and the fact that it utilizes voice recognition software makes it more useful than many reading apps. My only complaint is that I feel bombarded by emails from Ello.”

“My children are enjoying the app very much. They are more likely to work on reading for longer than if they have a paper book because using an iPad is a fun novelty for them. The voice recognition software is pretty good, but not perfect. My only complaint is that I receive too many emails from Ello.”

“My child age 9 loves the books. She's more independent in her reading and the prizes help motivate her to read more. The only small problem she's having is the app doesn't always understand her because of her speech differently.”

“Ello is the only reading app I’ve found that lets an emerging reader read out loud and provides feedback/assistance immediately and via subsequent email. Just struggling to keep my 6 year old grandson engaged and reading regularly without making it a requirement/task.”

“My child enjoys using Ello. Her favorite part is receiving help when needed at her fingertips. She also really enjoys the rewards. I’d love to have better tracking as a parent. For example- knowing how much time was committed to reading each day would be helpful.”
