All the installers here are dishonest. My first installer threw an extra 18k on the install price after i gave them my deposit. And then bribed me to give them a good review to get my deposit back. The second installer (which is almost done installing) Showed me one thing on my propsal and put another thing on my contract. I didnt check (i should have) and now im stuck in contract. The pricing is great but beware the contracter they choose are sketchy!

While I found the information useful and valuable, as well as finding several solar installers worthy of consideration, the EnergySage quoting system is rather devious and misleading. It takes an inordinate amount of effort to find out what the system you are looking at will REALLY cost. They spend all of their energy and format everything to try to make a sale. All they present are "cost savings," "payback period" and "net cost after rebates and tax incentives." But they hide the actual total cost under 2-3 levels of click throughs. I find this very decieving and misleading. It is almost as bad as the hidden "resort fees" that hotels try to hide from you when you search for a room. In summary, I was able to wade through the process and EnergySage definitely helped me find what I hope will be the right installer, but their process and format do not serve the customer ... only the installers by hiding the true cost of the system deep in the bowels of their system.

I was really keen on EnergySage at the beginning. Great concept. I wouldn't use EnergySage and would encourage others to not use EnergySage in the future. I'd find installers and then use a variety of other sites to research supposed top performers. I now am in a 25-year relationship with an installer who I'd argue is very different from the ratings on EnergySage I based my decision on. When you first go into EnergySage it's shocking how many nearly 5-star rated installers there are. Find that density of incredibly high-rated reviews ANYWHERE else on a review site. I found out there's a reason for that. Turns out when I did review my installer they called me up and were very persistent in getting me to remove my review. EnergySage doesn't have a problem with that. When I looked through the rest of the reviews, there is an incredible enthusiasm for solar installers which in itself raises an eyebrow. One review for my installer has "A+++++++++++++++++" in the title. It's like shouting off the rooftops about your plumber. So if you do use EnergySage (which again, I'd recommend strongly against relying on them as a singular source). Remember they have a very short relationship with you as a buyer and a long relationship with installers. Remember there is "survivor bias" in the reviews, especially in the highly rated companies so you should actively "deflate" the rating in your mind. Remember that there are plenty of other sites that provide solar insight and advice and you should actively use them.

Love the interface and premise of price shopping across providers in one place! Despite the rosy reviews, the provider we went (NRG) with took $20,000 and still has not installed our panels, almost a year later. I feel a bit mislead by all the reviews when I've had a borderline scam experience with one of the highest rated reviewers.

I like the idea of Energy Sage. I had several companies reach out and provide quotes, spoke to a few, and then got ghosted when I selected a company. I reached out to my sales contact from Energy Sage to let them know and never heard back from them -- I just got this "please rate Energy Sage" message instead. So... 2 Stars for the lack of follow-up and lack of actually getting the solar roof that I wanted.

Chose to go with G C Solar in January but they were too busy to meet with me, sent me a contract on April 13th, which I refused because they couldn't guarantee I would be grandfathered in.

Energysage really did not help us at all. The quotes we received from all solar vendors were tentative estimates at best and basically changed immediately by thousands of dollars once we got into further discussions with each company. The solar advisor from each company that works with Energysage is not the solar advisor you ultimately deal with so there is no personal concierge that EnergySage offers to be. That defeats the whole purpose of a one-stop shop like this touted to be. Energysage was good for basic information but is not worth using. You're better off contacting the solar company directly to get accurate quotes and assistance when planning your solar project.

Have been trying to get NuWatt to respond. This has been going on for months Contacted Sam repeatedely about poor response. He has all the details. I contacted him again last week and no response from him. I have waisted far too much time begging NuWatt and energy Sage to just acknowledge my emails and calls let alone get a proposal.

I think that you should be more aware of some of the business practices of the solar contractors. For example, in my first round of quotes, one of them quoted a battery system which I was prepared to accept, but when I asked him about that price, he said the price did not include a full battery system. So, I dumped him and went to the next company. They did a very bad job of explaining their process (which turned out to be byzantine) and they inundated me with paperwork. Their proposed panel orientation design was convenient for them but would have reduced the power output by 30%. They kept asking for additional payments, including (incredibly) over $30k to replace portions of my roof, which I immediately rejected partly because the roof is still under warranty.

They did get me two quotes, and I eventually did go with one of them, but only after a lengthy discussion with the supplier and obtaining a custom quote outside of Energysage. The Energysage format for presenting the electrical savings is confusing and misleading. For example, they projected a savings of only $71/yr, while my projections based on a 70% reduction was $1975/yr.

Process was good at first to get me a quote and answer some questions, but when I was near the end of the process and ready to buy the system my advisor stopped responding to any emails for the past few weeks. Had to finish and purchase on my own without all my final questions being answered.

I don't know how to feel about Energy Sage. They seemed very helpful But the company they connected me with, Green Brilliance, hasn't followed up after they took my money. They have takrn 3 months getting approvals and I still don't have any solar panels.
