Was surprised to read some of the comments as I recently bought a car through Dave Williams at Gateshead branch and was delighted with the service. Fast, friendly and factual with no hard sell. Good explanation, video of car and extremely fast delivery. Thanks.

We bought a car from EH York today. Ben sold us the car and was very informative, attentive AND patient with us as we’re not In our youth any more. He showed us/set up everything in the car for us which would have taken us days to work out🙈. Thanks Ben

Very smooth sale, Mike the salesman was very attentive and professional. One issue that took away the fifth star was Mike and Evans Halshaw are let down by their valeters! My vehicle was purchased with the Guardex protection, I may be picky but they only wiped over the interior, on closer inspection once home, the rear of the car, under the rear seats and boot area had green fusty mould growing, all over! The car is fantastic, but this should of been addressed.

I have bought or dealt with this company yet. What went wrong for me, was when I just read all the reviews people have put in for this company. It’s a shame as I was interested in a van. I will invest my time and money elsewhere. Usually I give the companies chance to reply to peoples comments but these lot clearly can’t or haven’t bothered at all and that’s why I’m writing this so they can take note of the affects of these negative feeds even on new potentials customers, and so many bad reviews can’t all be made up story so thank you all for your advise. You have wasted my time looking at your vans and sites. I’m taking my business to someone who genuinely cares.

I recently bought a used car from them at their Portsmouth branch. I was very dissatisfied by their salesperson Peter. More than the car, he was promoting the financial options and the add ons to buy. Rather than showing us the car inside out and sharing all the relevant paper work, he was keen to persuade us to buy through finance and take extended warranty etc. He might be wanting to help, but he seemed too pushy! Also, when we said we would like to take our time, make up our mind, see a few more cars and come back, he got agitated and then tried to put down all the other car dealers and cars we had shortlisted. We really liked the car and that is the only reason we went back there to buy it, my husband had almost made up his mind not to buy thanks to Peter. I am just hoping we have made the right decision and have a stress-free journey with this car,

I have a service plan for my car. Last year it was serviced and mot tested but required brake discs and pads to the front as well as the air-conditioning servicing at extra cost. This year the car was serviced and mot tested, again. Passed the mot but required rear brakes and pads and additionally the break fluid replacing due to water contamination. On a car with 27000 miles I am dismayed that the discs failing so quickly. I was astonishing that the air conditioning wasn't part of the service last year but this year I find out the break fluid isn't part of the service. This is wholly unacceptable, a money grabbing exercise and something that I feel is reasonable to assume would be included as part of a service. I have an mot certificate saying it is safe to drive on that day, but recommendation that I spend another £500 to make it safer. After dealing with VW dealers in the past and Suzuki this was never an issue. What needed servicing to make the car go, be efficient and safe and other equipment was serviced excluding perishable parts. Fluids, gas, oils, screen wash belts, was never part of any post service conversation. Is this only Ashton or is it part of Ford's money making scheme that is impacting the reliability of Ford motor vehicles in the UK. I am seriously considering offloading my Ford, the eco boost engines as I read more horror stories online at premature expensive engine failures. Disgusting service, dismissive attitude by the dealer and a background of expensive unreliability where Ford is concerned. Ford need to do better!

Evans Halshaw Nissan - Cargo Fleet Lane Middlesbrough Point 1) We arranged to test drive the car. When we arrived, they said they could not find the keys. We could view the car from the outside only. It was clearly being used by one of their team as it was full of junk, MacDonalds wrappers, clothes and had a car seat in the rear. Point 2) 30 minutes before we were due to collect the car, they rang to say it was not going to be ready for another 2 hours. We had family plans we had to cancel. We had already waited over a week. Point 3) When we collected the car it had not been fully cleaned/valeted, rather just a quick wipe over. We were told they had not had time. Point 4) When we collected the car there was a plastic cover missing from one of the side covers in the boot. I refused to take the car unless they sorted it out. £25K and they thought it didn't matter. They removed one from another car. Point 5) 8 weeks after the purchase we have still not received the logbook. I Rang twice and they are blaming DVLA. Promised to ring us back within an hour, a week later we are still waiting. We gave our old car to our son when we collected this car, his logbook arrived within a week. The car is great, really happy with it. However, their service and customer care is appalling.

They seem to do a good job but what I find disturbing is...when I've left it there on 2 occasions to have work done . The first time brakes . The car was in exactly the same place I parked it. And was not moved as it had been raining. The second time exactly the same with a recall. Never moved from the spot? My friend had a similar altercation where they told him it had been in the shop all day and they never fixed the problem but still tried to charge him. He told them to do one! This is newport road in Cardiff. Anyone wise have similar experience?

Bought a Focus from them that in photos looked really nice, promised me the car would be serviced etc and 'delivered' Delivery- i assumed my car would be dropped off on a trailer or truck but nope my car was driven 140 miles in sport mode by a guy with no mask or anything and never wiped anything down, left a coffee in side door as well as a melted mars bar in glovebox, car also turned up with 4 miles to empty with fuel needle lowest it could go with flickering lights on dashboard luckily i made it to a garage with 1 mile left.... Car itself - Car turned up with no mats even though in pictures it had mats, all fluids were empty or below minimum, oil was below minimum same for coolant and washer fluid was completely empty, steering fluid was also just below minimum yet this car was serviced with a stamp in book from them? pretty sure its illegal to falsely stamp a service book? the paint they used to quick repair alloys for pictures also came off so alloys look a mess. car also needed brake pads changing and wipers due to blurring vision and hardly stopping the car. After sales - 6 days into owning car gearbox was juddering and skipping gears and they had me book it in a ford garage local just for car to sit there 4 days just for Evans Halshaw to not authorise the work still then get this they came to fetch it and had someone drive it 140 miles to dealership it came from to repair it....overall took over 23 days to get my car back. Also took over 2 months to get the warrant pack info as well as 3 months just to get a V5 they claim was DVLA's fault yet soon as i mentioned i didn't have it all of a sudden 2 days later i get it. Was advertised with full service history yet wipers and brakes were very old and you could tell from engine this car hasn't been serviced in months possibly years and when i looked in service book the cars last service was at 32k miles the car has done 68k miles.....so it being serviced once in 6 years is full service history? Car is automatic and 1.6 so knew MPG would be average but car would use £5 just to go to shop and back, turned out all filters were years old and one of the injectors were bad, don't forget all this was serviced and checked before sale though. My advice would be avoid and buy from a private seller, if you do buy from these 100% check the car is serviced cuz if i didn't i would of been driving a car round with no oil or anything! also make them put in writing car has a full service history and check over the car! i found out later the car had loose wiring and a broken parcel shelf.

Trying to buy a nearly new car It’s advertised with 163 miles on the clock when having an online purchase meeting with Evans Halshaw sales rep I was told it could have more miles on the clock than advertised when I asked for the actual mileage he said he would get back to me 2 days later I’ve heard nothing obviously they either don’t care or have no respect for their potential customers!!! I’ve already purchased 2 cars from Evans Halshaw Wolverhampton but I doubt I’ll buy any more Very poor return customer treatment!!!

Enquired about a car on there site that I had seen for over a week. ( screen price stayed the same) To then see the screen price had gone up the day after I spoke with someone there. Did not get the phone call back that I was told I would. Sorry will be looking else where for my next car now.. car still for sale. Don't treat customers like this if you won't there business.

Completely incompetant. Bought a car which had faults which they agreed to fix. Booked car in for those repairs only to drive an hour then after having my car 2 hours phoned to say they had not ordered the parts so had to re book. On morning of re booking phoned ahead and they had ordered the wrong parts so trying for a third booking. I had been warned by a Nissan dealership that they were like this.

Purchased a car from Evanshalshaw in Bury and the car broke down on our way home. My wife was driving with our three young children and all were very distressed. We were able to continue our journey home driving very carefully, amber engine light on all the way. Next day the car wouldn’t start so we called the AA who came recommending the car shouldn’t be driven and presented us with a lengthy fault report. I called the Evanshalshaw sales representative to have the car returned and was not called back or assisted in offered in anyway. I have since been calling to have the car collected and am being told I will have to pay, even though the car was not drivable and of um-merchantable quality. I’m am left waiting for a call back to resolve this situation.

Often the quality of a company is only on display when an issue arises, Salesmen very kind and polite when selling but uncaring and uncompromising if any issues arise. We purchased a larger car after the birth of our first child. Informed that the turbo had been replaced after purchasing so was really disappointed when issues arose a few months after buying with engine management lights which were according to a Seat specialist, likely linked to the turbo. The car also failed the MOT emissions test also after the first year.l, an issue I've never experienced. Contacted the branch we used and tried going through complaints as we were told initially there would be a warranty of 12 months for the replacement turbo. However, although the new turbo has collapsed after only 1 year and 9000 miles, no apology or offer of any kind to help rectify the issue. Told that someone would call back a few times and I naively waited and expected a call before having to call back to try and sort out. The seat specialist we spoke to were very surprised to hear a warranty of only 12 months for a new turbo and it makes you question the quality of the work completed. Both cars I've purchased in my life have been from Evans Halshaw but won't be using them in the future if this isn't rectified. I plan on going back through complaints to say that the issue hasn't been resolved through the local dealership we used to buy the car, but not holding my breath for any sort of support or apology but this is a lesson learned the hard way.

I bought a car from them two years ago, on the day they dropped it off i noticed the gearbox wasn't working properly, fast forward they took the car back and "fixed" the gearbox, just had to have a suspension part done on my car and the garage phoned to tell me my gearbox has so many bolts missing they advise i shouldn't drive it until they order some and fit them! So for two years i have been driving a car around on motorways and stuff and its had most of its bolts missing on the gearbox! they also informed me the gearbox isn't new and it looks like a second hand one, i couldn't believe it until they shown me! this has put massive stress on the remaining bolts so they need changing too and when i phoned them to make them aware even 2 years after they said it was down to me to check? so apparently everyone when buying a used car you need to take a car lift with you, lift the car up in the air, remove the undertrays, just to make sure your gearbox isn't missing all its bolts because their team are too incompetent to put the bolts back in they took out! how was i meant to know? with the undertrays on you can't see the gearbox so a MOT wouldn't pick this up either, i expect a garage contracted by EH or EH themselves to be able to put all the bolts back in a gearbox when putting it back on the car, i have been driving around for 2 years with a gearbox held on by i think 2 bolts? i have always heard a noise when accelerating harshly which i was told was normal but since all these bolts have been put in i no longer hear it.

Stay Away from Sunderland Evans Halshaw. I purchased a Nissan Leaf 2018 from Evans Halshaw on 18th March 2024. Shortly after, I discovered that the navigation system was not functioning. Despite trying new wires and contacting Nissan customer service, I received minimal assistance and was directed to the nearest Nissan service center. Upon taking the vehicle to the Evans Nissan service station, I was informed that the earliest available appointment was on 23rd April 2024. After the inspection, I was shocked to learn that I would need to pay £3000 to replace the entire system. This amounts to nearly half of the car's total cost, which primarily covers the entertainment system. I feel deceived, especially since the vehicle should have undergone a thorough check before being handed over to the customer. The delay in addressing the issue due to the lack of available appointments further exacerbated the situation. I really had bad experience with Evans for their unprofessional conduct and failure to promptly address the issue. I asked them that I would like to return the car or exchange it for a vehicle of equivalent value. Keeping this car is not feasible given the substantial cost of replacing the entire unit, and the issue was not disclosed at the time of purchase. But there was cold response from them as if they are not bothered. I am planning to take this to consumer court. I bought this car exchanging a good running car.
