Stay Away from Sunderland Evans Halshaw. I purchased a Nissan Leaf 2018 from Evans Halshaw on 18th March 2024. Shortly after, I discovered that the navigation system was not functioning. Despite trying new wires and contacting Nissan customer service, I received minimal assistance and was directed to the nearest Nissan service center. Upon taking the vehicle to the Evans Nissan service station, I was informed that the earliest available appointment was on 23rd April 2024. After the inspection, I was shocked to learn that I would need to pay £3000 to replace the entire system. This amounts to nearly half of the car's total cost, which primarily covers the entertainment system. I feel deceived, especially since the vehicle should have undergone a thorough check before being handed over to the customer. The delay in addressing the issue due to the lack of available appointments further exacerbated the situation. I really had bad experience with Evans for their unprofessional conduct and failure to promptly address the issue. I asked them that I would like to return the car or exchange it for a vehicle of equivalent value. Keeping this car is not feasible given the substantial cost of replacing the entire unit, and the issue was not disclosed at the time of purchase. But there was cold response from them as if they are not bothered. I am planning to take this to consumer court. I bought this car exchanging a good running car.

Want a bodged car? buy from Evans Halshaw! i bought a 2014 Focus from them 8 months ago, since owning it for EIGHT MONTHS i have had to replace the horn, boot struts, ford badges as they fell off, parcel shelve clips they fixed with tape, AC never worked and doesn't hold gas, two tyres, an advisory on a MOT magically disappeared on EH MOT but now needs doing 8 months later which is looking like a new steering rack, kit in boot for wheel isn't even right one for car and too small so good job i randomly checked this rather than just gone out getting a flat tyre to not be able to even change it myself! all wiper blades needed changing after 4 months as well, only thing EH did was chuck new discs and pads on it. Now after 8 months i decided to take the car to a mates garage for a service who informed me this car hasn't been serviced like they claimed and with how black the oil is he estimates its not been done for at least 30,000 miles and the oil filter was so seized on it had to be ripped off not screwed off and the air filter that's meant to be white is dark yellow looking like something off a tractor, all the belts need changing and the water pump which EH claims to have inspected and the previous owner had this all done which is not true, all paint they used to touch up the wheels came off after 4 months as well. So after 8 months i am left with a car i'll be lucky to get half my money back for because they lied and skipped out on jobs same for previous owners, i have had to spend almost £1,000 on this car so far just so it can keep going and function like it should! EH should be hold accountable for lies they say and are clearly not inspecting or having the seller prove anything before EH sell it, pretty sure if i took this car back to them and told them its had all belts done and serviced they'd just put my car up for sale and tell all people interested in it that this has been done without me even proving it, thanks to me this car is good to go for rest of its life but it concerns me how buckets like this are sold to a main dealer like EH then sold to members of public, want to buy a car from EH? have a mechanic inspect the vehicle for you and check EVERYTHING as nothing they claim is actually backed up by proof and you run the risk of buying a vehicle that's been doctored up for sale that will last maybe a year before it all starts showing and guess who has to pay for it. So to sum up i bought a Focus off them that has had to have almost £1,000 spending on it to keep it going, none of what they told me about the belts or service was true, right now the car is all done except needing a new suspension part and is a great car but like most cars nowadays they are neglected which i understand with buying used cars but when Evans Halshaw gets a car in they should be doing the bare minimum of actually servicing them and inspecting the belts and key elements and putting right the neglect that can have severe consequences because if i kept driving it the belts could have snapped causing severe engine damage or kept driving it with a steering rack that's been in need of replacing for well over a year, nobody cares anymore and just thinks meh that can be the next owners problem, if people just had things done when required cars would last for hundreds of thousands of miles and you could ask a higher price for it, instead you've got cars like this with only 70k miles ready for scrapyard unless someone saves them instead of just selling it on and on until it does break or cause a accident, now that the car is done its a great car and i can't fault it one bit but would i buy another car from EH? no i wouldn't because i know for a fact someone could take a complete bucket to them and they'd still sell it me and you only have to look on Youtube to see the death traps EH has been putting out on the road.

Saw the car and on inspection there were no scratches apart from the stone chips on the number. I bought the car and cams to collect a 4 days later and again on inspection, no scratches on the bonnet and door frames. Took it for a hand car wash as I know the automatic car washes can scuff and scratch the paint work. And when i bought it home i uncovered numerous large scratches on the bonnet and door frames. By the way after i bought the car I did not drive it and it was parked in the garage. It seems Evan Halshaw touched the car up to hide the scratches and which were uncovered on first wash. This was evidently deceiving and dishonest which i don't expect from a forecourt especially when you’re paying over £17k for a car.

Evans Halshaw Wigan. I came away after being sold a 'cast iron, gold plated' warranty on the car...without any paperwork...yes, I know its partly my fault. I have tried to get a posted copy and failed...many times. Complained to Customer Services - pointless...still not got it. I have changed the reg of the car...tried to find out if I need to inform (a) warranty company and (b) breakdown company...and get no reply! I told them the car will be going on a European road trip soon and I need the paperwork and details on how to claim (if I need to) and guess what...no reply. Horrendous company to deal with.

The York Garage peugeot . Purchased my 208 new in October, was promised new mats as purchased the car straight off the forecourt. It took me 4 months to receive the mats after numerous phone calls and promises I had to get peugeot customer services involved so eventually, after customer services tried twice they gave in and sent them . Then we noticed, at the middle of February that the bonnet was not aligned properly, this could only be noticed when a distance away which is why we didnt notice before. We rang the garage too be told to take it to the garage near us who were peugeot approved who said it was a bodyshop job and they didnt have a body shop. We then were told by the York garage to take it to Leeds as they didnt have a body shop. As we live in Filey we said they sold the car so should help us by taking it and giving us a courtesy car, they just laughed and said it was our problem. After a lot of problems and phone calls I gave in and took it to the Leeds body care and what a difference they were so helpful and couldnt believe we were expected to bring it to Leeds for inspection and take it back another time for repair. The mechanic who saw us took the car away and10 mins later was back. Car done and he said it could have been done by any mechanic just needed 2 screws removing and the bonnet realigning and screws back. I have been in touch with the head office who promised someone would be in touch to discuss this but yet again no-one has been back to me after I have rung twice Wednesdayn10th April and yesterday 15th April so all I can say is steer clear off this garage apart from Leeds. Absolutely terrible after sales service. Also one of the service team told me to go through my insurance. I am thinking of getting in touch with the motor ombudsman as this garage needs reprimanding. STAY CLEAR

Worst company I ever deal with. Absolutely nightmare. Send me a personalised video given many wrong informations regarding the car. After I purchased the car I realised many things were not in the car as they mentioned in the video. Third day after purchase the car engine management light came on . Many days I had to leave the car in driveway and had to use taxi. After a long discussion they agreed to take the car back as they know it was a miss sold car. I had to wait weeks for the refund. I spend lots of money for the alternative transportation in this period and the insurance cancellation fee too. They never gave any of these money as a compensations because this is completely their fault . I could go with the solicitors. please stay away from this company please please

I purchase my car in September 2023 and bought 3 year warranty along with this. In February 2024 (5months later) I had a warning light appear on the dash for the pedestrian protection trigger. I pressed the VW assist button and a roadside technician was sent to me. They scanned and gave me a copy of the diagnostic report. I booked the car into Evans Halshaw Walsall and was given a date of 29th March. Evans Halshaw failed to fix the issue and advised that their diagnostic equipment, that was being used was not capable to carry out the required repair. They informed me that my car would need to go into a VW dealership and any additional cost for diagnostic of £158 would be chargeable to me….My warranty provider Pendragon assured me that this is not the case as Evans Halshaw were to pay as it was EH who failed to fix the issue which in turn has meant the car would now have to go to VW. I spoke with Sharon Rolston and explained what Pendragon had told me and Sharon called me back on Monday 4th March @ 11:17am to clarify and explained that she had liaised with her Manager Andy Smith (Service manager) and he has has advised that this charge was payable by me. I explained to Sharon that Pendragon have said that the cost should be covered by EH and in turn Sharon made the decision to cancel my appointment that was originally made with VW. This has left me with an unfit vehicle even after purchasing warranty. The appalling service from the after sales care team is disheartening, even when a warranty is purchased it is not honoured. The team at Walsall have been unhelpful and have in terms said my only option is to take the cost to fix the issue and have also cancelled my booking with VW.

I have a service plan for my car. Last year it was serviced and mot tested but required brake discs and pads to the front as well as the air-conditioning servicing at extra cost. This year the car was serviced and mot tested, again. Passed the mot but required rear brakes and pads and additionally the break fluid replacing due to water contamination. On a car with 27000 miles I am dismayed that the discs failing so quickly. I was astonishing that the air conditioning wasn't part of the service last year but this year I find out the break fluid isn't part of the service. This is wholly unacceptable, a money grabbing exercise and something that I feel is reasonable to assume would be included as part of a service. I have an mot certificate saying it is safe to drive on that day, but recommendation that I spend another £500 to make it safer. After dealing with VW dealers in the past and Suzuki this was never an issue. What needed servicing to make the car go, be efficient and safe and other equipment was serviced excluding perishable parts. Fluids, gas, oils, screen wash belts, was never part of any post service conversation. Is this only Ashton or is it part of Ford's money making scheme that is impacting the reliability of Ford motor vehicles in the UK. I am seriously considering offloading my Ford, the eco boost engines as I read more horror stories online at premature expensive engine failures. Disgusting service, dismissive attitude by the dealer and a background of expensive unreliability where Ford is concerned. Ford need to do better!

I was looking at buying a BMW from them for £13,995 but was advised on the phone of fees and the car was actually now £14,240, after having second thoughts i decided to search the car reg and found the car was only worth £10,000 and Evans Halshaw themselves on their own trade in portal only offered me £9,000 for it, i phoned the salesman back and advised him i wasn't happy with the price or the MOT history and offered him a price of £12,000 and 2 years warranty for the £800 which is still £2,000 above the stated worth but they refused, same car is now on their website still for now £11,990 as they can't sell it so they lost out, i was also told they wouldn't do the MOT advisories if i bought the car because they're not fails and only advisories when it needs 3 new tyres and rear shockers...they only wanted £14,240 for it though guys you can't expect the world! these faults are called progressive faults meaning even if it didn't fail on their MOT its obvious to anyone with a brain they'll get worse and worse and eventually need replacing in a few months so they refused to fix it knowing if i bought it i would have to cop the bill months down the line if the warranty didn't cover it, car is advertised with cruise control and heated seats when its actually only one up from SE and doesn't have either, service history is embarrasing for a BMW, 1 service in 6 years and was done at 20k miles so over 48k miles ago, gearbox has never been serviced either, chain hasn't been inspected. Now i know why i see the same cars still on their website months later, overpriced with bare minimum effort i mean they wanted over £3,000 past a cars worth and selling it with a MOT full of advisories and falsely claiming features on the car, they told me they would service it but the last car i bought from them was "serviced" but clearly wasn't and they just haven't changed if anything they have got more greedy and less caring which you can tell by the fact the salesman on the phone sighed at me and said even if they replaced the tyres it would only be to stop me moaning and they would be budget tyres...again only a £14,250 RWD BMW guys what do you expect from them? car is now listed for £11,990 and still hasn't been bought because its only worth £11,000 tops especially with all their fees.

What a wonderful dealership, clean tidy very professional. After driving over 2 and a half hours to get to the showroom the service was amazing. Elen took me out on a test drive and then later I went out when I was feeling more comfortable. She made me a lovely cup of tea when it was needed not from the machine. All the staff were very friendly. Showroom very clean, sweets ,drinks and even toy cars to play with for younger children. Overall its the best showroom I've been to. So looking forward to collecting my car on Wednesday and Elen is even coming in on her day off to do the paperwork. Couldn't fault the garage and would recommend them a 100%. Good job 👏

Bought a 2015 automatic Focus from them with only 59k miles, gearbox had to be replaced on the day i got it they literally drove the car to me and handed me the keys of a broken car, parcel shelf is bent and clips missing, engine hasn't been serviced in 4 years, horn packed up after a week, spare key doesn't even work. When that wasn't enough today i woke up and went out to my car to find all the windows down and my car soaked, EH knew about a water leak and attempted to cover it up with just sealer and did a poor job allowing rain to get into the wiring in the boot and ruin the body control module, since this was fixed its been 4 months and now my engine is making a weird noise and seems like timing belt or pulley which is another thing i was lied to about! belt hasn't been changed since built and it wasn't serviced. If you want to buy a lemon use these lot who don't check anything on cars they buy they simply give it a quick poor hoover and wash and chuck a grand on it and sell it on.

Would give zero stars but it won't let me. Bought a car from merthyr Evans halshaw and regretted it ever since. Had nothing but trouble with the car and with the staff there. The car has been in over 20 times with faults that still ain't been fixed. Payed extra for warranty due to so many electrical parts on the car as advised but waste of time as they refuse to warrent any parts . Customer services are awfull they refuse to answer the phones but as seen in person they get a call and press them off. Takes days to actually get a answer and then a waste of time as all you get is sorry about that. They had the car in for 2 days again recently due to more faults yet ring to ask for extra time to look at it that day and then charge for not even looking at the faults it went in for so why have it in that long charge us and not even sort the fault its gone in for. Also they pretend to service it but don't actually do it then when called up on the matter they play stupid and then have it back in to actually do what they had it in for which that was another 2 days of them doing nothing and having it and no curtesy cars offered any of these times knowing we had a parent on chemo that needed hospital everyday . Never again. They talk all nice but once they got your cash you won't get anything fixed

Contacted Evans Halshaw Hyundai Service Dept yesterday (22nd Jan 2024) and informed them that the car alarm on my Hyundai Santa Fe, which is less than 3 years old and is serviced by them annually, was activating numerous times a day and at all times of the day and night, which the neighbours are finding rather annoying. I anticipated being offered a quick check with the option of disarming the alarm over the next few days. I was informed that the earliest diagnostic check available was the 25th March 2024 and was offered no further help. Completely un-customer orientated and really a disgrace to the Hyundai brand. Come on Hyundai, either get them to improve their customer focus or strip them of the franchise. I have since organised to have my car checked at a different franchise some 10 miles away, who were far more customer focused and friendly and definitely put Evan Halshaw to shame.
