Very disappointed with response when contacted for a quote, I was asked if I was receiving a government grant for older people, only to be told to measure the windows myself and send them in as they don’t call to homes for a quote if you are getting a grant

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for your feedback, and we're genuinely sorry to hear you were disappointed with your recent experience. We want to reassure you that we never refuse to provide quotes. In your case, we asked for window measurements as the first step in preparing an estimate. This is standard practice, especially when a site visit may not be feasible at the initial stage. Providing accurate measurements helps us deliver a meaningful quote and avoid delays. We’d also like to make it clear that we do not discriminate against any customer — including those applying for grant assistance or older homeowners. In fact, we regularly provide quotes for grant-funded projects across both Dublin City and Fingal County Councils. That said, we’re always transparent about our position in the market. As a company that prioritises quality materials, expert installation, and long-term service, we may not always be the most cost-competitive option for grant-based work, which often focuses on price. We completely respect that, and we understand the importance of making the most of grant funding. If you’re still considering window or door upgrades, we’d be happy to assist — simply send through your window measurements, and we’ll provide a detailed quote with no obligation. Kind regards, The Fairco Sales Team

I phoned Fairco on 18th June 2025 my Fairco door was installed in June 2015 with a ten year guarantee. On ringing Fairco to let them know I had a handle problem they phone back the following day and told me my 10 year guarantee was up in June. Then went on to tell me my locks and windows in the door was only guaranteed for one year. Have to say I was highly disappointed. I bought the composite door of them as they were an Irish company and was left feeling the receptionist couldn't wait to get me of the phone. The receptionist said I'll pass you on a third party vendors details and you can contact him to fix your door and I would be left paying for it. Even though my guarantee wasn't up till July when Fairco installed the first door it was damaged so I had to wait on a replacement door so really the guarantee wasn't up till July 2025. I'm so disappointed been left in the lurch we got your money now you can go to a third party and look after it yourself don't be bothering us as we don't fix locks highly disappointed. After this episode I would say to potential customers who are looking to go with Fairco windows and doors think twice as their ten year guarantee on their doors and windows just doesn't add up to all that their saying beware. Really left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Eugene McDonagh Clondalkin

Dear Eugene, Thank you for your feedback, we take all customer concerns seriously. Our records show that your door installation took place in June 2015 (10 years ago). Since July 2015 until the 18th of June 2025 there has been no requests for our services. On the 18th of June 2025 you telephoned us to say that the handle had fallen off your door. Our service team followed up with a call explaining that the handle falling off was not covered in the 10-year guarantee. We recommended a third party who works alongside us who would be available to quote for these works.

Whilst the fitting was well done and I have to compliment the team but I have to say I am grossly disappointed with the after care. Window in Bathroom @ 6 months and the locking mechanism broke, ok these things happen and I accept that, but a new window should have greater longevity. Trying to get the lock replaced has turned into a "NATO Exercise", repair by appointment only and that is weeks away. Bitterly disappointed, other windows to be replaced, Fairco don't think so.

Dear Tania, Our records show that we carried out the original installation in January 2024. On the 9th of September you contacted our sales office to inform us that the bathroom window handle was broken, our service team called you to arrange a service appointment for the 10th of September. The service engineer called the client number on the contract and received no reply, this resulted in our service department rescheduling your appointment for the 16th of September. The service engineer carried out an inspection and recommended the replacement of the component. We communicated to you, that the necessary part has been ordered and the next available date to fit this item would be the 1st of October, there was no charge for this service call out and the company is fitting the replacement unit within such manner and within such time as is consistent with the company’s normal delivery period.

Dear Mary, Our records show your installation took place in November 2023. Our service department called you on the 7th of June to arrange a service call for the afternoon of the 12th of June. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the service engineer was unable to carry out the appointment. Our service team offered you the next available appointment, to be carried out during working hours, i.e. Monday – Friday 9-5pm. They stated that you wanted a call outside these hours. We arranged and confirmed, both by telephone and email, for our service engineer to carry out the corrective action on the 18th of June. The service engineer called you 10 minutes before arrival and you explained you were travelling to the airport.

Bad.Bad. Bad. For customer service go anywhere else. We asked for someone to quote for all new windows and doors for our 5 bedroom house. They refused to even send anyone until we had chosen the type and colour. Now, the whole reason we wanted a quote was that we could decide on type based on the quote. There are plenty of companies -Senator- for example that came within 24 hours of our request for a quote. We are kicking off our deep retrofit project so who needs a ignorant company unwilling to quote! As in Pretty Woman....big mistakes lads. Huge So for any competent level of customer service. Go to any other window company.

Dear Hailey, Our records show that we received an online enquiry on Sunday 09/06. On the 10/06 at 10am we sent an email asking for the best time to call to understand your requirements. On the 11/06 we received a reply to the email with no indication when was the best time to call. On the 11/06 we telephoned you and there was no voicemail service available, and we sent another email asking when the best time was to discuss the best type of product required. On the 11/06 we received an email with no indication of a time of which best suited you to discuss your requirements. Instead, we received a questionnaire to fill out. On the 12/06 we sent another email asking a suitable time to contact you and discuss your requirements for the project, before we would send a representative to your house. We received no response to the email.

Ordered doors. Had to pay in full before installation. Doors badly fitted. Fixed but left gap at bottom. Another call-out. Finally doors would not even close! Open!! Now fixed again. I have no confidence in these overpriced doors. Management will not contact me! Marian in Donnybrook

Had a new door installed .. the knocker was not put in centre of door..I said this to the guy who put it in and he insisted that it was..I didn’t bother arguing with him so I rang the office..They sent someone out and he agreed with me and tried fixing it .He said the lads didn’t put any washer on when putting on the knocker..I asked him to look at the lock as it kept sticking..He fixed the problem BUT the lock started sticking AGAIN and when I called them they said they could send somebody out to look but I’d have to pay….I was so disappointed with the after service as the door was never right and I told them that…I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FAIRCO.. The lock is still sticking and getting worse..

Poor service (fitting - the earlier service was great). They fitted the door with a piece of soft wood underneath, which was inappropriate for use on the floor. They promised to come back and address several items, which they never did. Very disappointed with the service, but the door itself is great.

Customer service team are some of the worst people I have ever dealt with fairco as a company have been out to fix my door 3 times in 4yrs due to parts failing and when I said I wasn't happy with this and didn't feel I should have to pay for recent fault as it was just outside warranty your customer service agent compared my front door lock to a car and said things fail if you didn't get your car serviced it would also fail .I have never heard anything like this before were you compare a door lock to a car which has prob close to 10thousand moving parts ignorent horrible attitude would never ever deal with your company again
