Awful insurance policy, wasn’t aware I had a curfew when applying for this insurance also the Bluetooth on the wingman they provide is horrendous which has resulted in myself contacting them a number of times for a new wingman. Unfortunately someone crashed into me last December, the other driver was at fault and had admitted liability however carrot told me I had to pay my excess, now my policy has ended and, I have of course gone with another provider, I’ve asked for proof of my no claims discount and they have replied saying I’m not eligible to my no claims bonus any longer because of this accident where I was not at fault!!

I saw a few bad reviews about this car insurance BUT since being with them for 5 months myself I have only good things to say about them I’m on the better driver app and it really helps me stay focused on driving well, as you get a nice little treat each week also I would highly recommend for young drivers.

Really happy with my renewal price, more than halved for the second year based on my driving score for the year! Only downfall for me is the new live chat. I think there should be other ways of contact or a number to call in more urgent matters.

The people you speak to are always nice but the app never works. It never stops recording journeys and also having Bluetooth on all the time kills your battery. I won't be renewing with them. Unfortunately I don't have much else to say as all experience I've had is with this app and It sucks. I can see as well I'm not the only one to think this :-/

Carrot insurance is alright, but there's alot of room for improvement. The black box helps bring the initial price down, but I've been caught up to now buy extra miles with 2 months left on my policy. I was quoted about £50 for 150 extra miles, not too bad but still annoying. The black box also isn't very realistic- if you need to emergency brake, pull off quickly, or need to speed ever so slightly in order to overtake, you are marked down on the points system. Also if you do short journeys of about 15 mins or under, drive after 11pm or drive longer than an hour at once, you are also marked down. So the rewards scheme doesn't really reward you as much as advertised. I'm all for black box monitoring and I understand why, but when it doesn't account for real world driving it's more of a con than a pro. As for customer service, the new system does work but you still end up waiting a while for someone to speak/type to. I'd say it's slightly better than waiting on the phone, but nothing revolutionary. Overall Carrot is an average insurance group for young drivers as cost always comes first really. I'd look around first, but if you can't find a better price, then Carrot would be a fair choice.

Couldn't fault them while I was insured. Only I've been trying to renew my insurance for the past week and had no luck. When I contacted they said they didn't have somebody in that area to help me and I'll be given a phone call back. I've been waiting and my car is no uninsured and I've still not heard anything.

It was easy to sort out at the begining, i had to change my useage from sd&p to sf&p commuting which was easy and straight forward. Only reason not 5* is sometimes the app will give you a 10 x 3 score but when go back in later it changes!!!!!! But is good to keep a track on how im doing.

My insurance was revoked but they sorted it out and re instated it ASAP and when I needed help I went on the chat for help

Cheap and does the job, but not letting you just use a standard black box as a 'better driver' rather than the app (that for me hardly ever works) is just annoying? The app is not easier, having to have your phone on you 24/7 with bluetooth and the app constantly on just sucks.

If I could give less than 1 I would. DO NOT take out this insurance they do not give young people a chance and are literally just money grabbers!! (Also I’ve heard they pay people to give good reviews)! 😡😡

The only way to contact carrot insurance (unless you’ve been in an accident) is through a live chat which only operates between 9-6 (aka times when most people are working). So, several times now I’ve had to spend my lunch break trying to convey issues with my Carrot Wingman (which broke within 3 weeks of getting it and despite me ordering a new one it hasn’t even been dispatched). I’m sure the agents on the live chat are lovely, competent people but they’ve not been very helpful to me. I’ve been told to detach my carrot wingman and reset it, but it doesn’t come off the windscreen and I’ve been told to get it off with a credit card but it still won’t come off. I’ve asked how I’m supposed to reapply it once it’s detached but that part of my question was ignored. I was also charged an admin fee of £28 to change a mistake made on my application form (TWENTY EIGHT BRITISH POUNDS to change one number!). I wouldn’t put it past this company to penalise me for not being able to record my drives, despite being in contact thrice without anyone taking the initiative to send me a new Wingman.
