Competitive pricing but Admin could be better I had been with a competitor for all of my motorcycling history they always send a ridiculous renewal but usually its sorted with a phone call. TBF my premiums aren't that high anyway but this year they wouldn't shift and were also adding a handling fee of £5, which they were intransigent over so i looked around and Devitt came up (through the post office), same cover same insurer about £10 cheaper. Which isn't much but as i said my premium isn't that high and its the principle. Fairly easy to set up although i got no confirmation and when i called to check they said they had e mailed everything out and if i hadn't received it then they could post me copies, then no they couldn't, then hey couldn't make changes until the policy came into force, then magically an e mail arrived. all good. Then out of the blue a few weeks later an e mail saying notice that they were cancelling my policy. Turns out that they hadn't got my proof of NCD, they hadn't asked me for it. Ive had motor insurance on various vehicles for 40 years i understand the principle, sometimes they ask authorities they have it on the big brother database (you know the one that reminds them that you had windscreen claim a few years ago that you forgot and didn't declare because its a windscreen claim) hey ho. All sorted now with another phone call. So good on price a bit poor on admin, lets hope i don't need to use it.

The price was very competitive, and the customer service agent was friendly. Unfortunately, I then received threatening emails and a letter, suggesting I had not sent my licence and no claims info, (I had) This needed a prolonged call from me as they ignored my emails. .Resolved but I'm hoping I don't need the claims department.

Great, friendly service when originally buying my insurance, and very competitive price! Since then I tried to contact them numerous times about a form I needed to return, and it's basically impossible to speak to anyone. Was on hold for over 20 minutes on two occasions, and once requested a call back which never came. Also no response to three emails I sent. Otherwise had no problems so far, and happy with the cover and price.

Huge cancellation charges! £126 to cancel my motorcycle policy is just unacceptable.

Great on price but there is always a queue when phoning them. I have been kept queuing from between 20 minutes to 40 minutes before getting to speak to someone. There has never been a time that I have got through to someone in under 20 minutes. Unacceptable.

I have 3 policies with Devil. A mistake was made on my part with the start date of my third policy. Despite my loyalty with three policies spanning a total of 5 years they insisted on charging me a high admin fee to advance the start of the policy by 1 day. On principle I will not be using them when it is time for my renewal.

Have used Devitts over the years off and on. Always polite on the phone and no problems getting the insurance sorted. However as with most insurance services, the best price you get it seems is in the first year. So never automatically renew in subsequent years if you want to save money. It can be considerable. Then if you are like me and do not want your information used elsewhere (even though you did not give permission) make sure that they know that you do not want them or their carefully selected marketing partners doing so by any means. I have taken out my insurance this year, never gave any permissions and now am receiving these irritating emails.

I did not like the fact that you're insurance continues on without my consent it's a bit like when you're phone is up for renewal you're money comes off you're account without you knowing the old way you have to renew it is much better by phone

Devit have always been helpful but I do think their charges are a bit excessive, £10 to arrange your insurance? Huge charges for making a simple change (up to £50) all a bit over the top.
