Awful customer service and a horrendous company to be insured with. I requested at least 6 times to speak with a manager on a 60 min phone call and was just passed around from person to person no manager. 'Compulsory excess charges' aren't clearly stated on policy documents and not to forget they don't send you your renewell documents which is the law to do so. Going back to my old insurer I think, much better value and customer service for money!

Hello there, I'm sorry to see that you are not happy with the way you were dealt with regarding speaking to a manager, I completely understand your frustrations in this instance. The excesses should have been transparent in any policy documents you had, young drivers excesses are always charged in these circumstances. I do apologise that your experience with Hastings Direct SmartMiles hasn?t been a god one. - Jamie

So far so bad. Everything declared at proposal time then the first thing they do is charge an outrageous admin fee claiming something wasn't disclosed which was. Very sharp practice and I dread to think what they would be like if you had to make a claim.

Money thieving - absolutely rubbish when dealing with my accident. Just charge you ridiculous amounts of money for everything. Change their minds about the price constantly. Would never waste my money on them again. Avoid at all costs.

The only word that comes to mind is useless. This was my first ever car insurance which naturally cost me an arm and a leg. The smart miles box was ok but I hated the fact there was a curfew which didn?t allow me to use my car between 10pm-5pm without being penalised, it felt like an over controlling parent and a lack of freedom. Hastings have also been uncooperative in regards to claims and gave me incorrect information which has affected my policy with my new insurance meaning I had to pay more. They also tried to take money out of my account without my permission but then claimed they had sent out information but didn?t. As a young person I felt like I was taken advantage of because of my age and I will not be continuing my car insurance with them ever again. A waste of ?1200 and a poor experience, would not recommend.

Hi there,I'm really sorry to see your experience with us was a bad one. We are very transparent with the driving between 10pm and 5am and suggest that you do drive, this is to protect our younger more inexperienced drivers that could be exposed to potential accidents. I really am really sorry to see that you were unhappy with our claims process and the fact you were charged more when changing provider. If u buy a new car you have to pay for another box why not use the same one from before. Oh and the discount only applies to the same car, if after a year you changed ur car the quote changes significantly...

Very unhelpful customer service. I phoned to cancel my policy within the first 14 days and was told that I would not have the ?210 telematics fee refunded since it had been fitted to the car!

Too much deduction from annual payment please don't buy insurance from this company or if you really want to buy it from them don't pay annually pay monthly but they will still take a lot of money as a deposite

By doing as they said and getting my no claims bonus right before my renewal. Or at least get back to me about it so I could have changed it to direct debit before!
