“All agents we helpful friendly and professional when I got to speak to them - HOWEVER - I was on hold for nearly 15 minutes when I called up to extend my cover to provide European breakdown cover and that rather took the edge of things.”

“I was happy with my renewal after going on a comparison web site & getting the identical quote but with more than half a reduction in the excess. I renewed 2 weeks early but then received a daily email counting down the days to my renewal date which I couldn’t stop”

“Once again I've renewed my bike insurance with MCE. New bike this time and although the excess is high the premium is very reasonable so I stayed. You have to weigh up whether it is an appropriate risk for your own circumstances. See if it comes down next year.. One criticism - the online quote system did not recognise my input as the sole rider of the bike (1) so could not proceed with this process. When I went on to the live chat, they could not provide me with a quote either - although they did confirm my NCD. Had a no fault accident in 2016 whilst insured with MCE. Full NCD protected and no obvious effect on my renewal premiums. Bit of a drawn out process but this is the same with all insurance claims.”

“Used go compare to find not only reasonably priced insurance cover for my Indian Scout Bobber but a cover that met my requirements, MCE were not the cheapest quote to insure my bike but offered the cover that I required at the best price. I required breakdown cover, legal cover etc and the policy chosen had all of that and more at a really good premium. I bought the cover online and checked my documents as soon as the e-mail arrived, although I had filled in details of an accident in a my car, not bike on go compare this wasn’t on the policy documents, I had insured with MCE the previous year also and they had record of the accident. I called the telephone number provided (not free phone) and waited a long period of time (most irritating part), before I got to speak to an advisor who was polite and professional and had it sorted in no time. I have scored MCE four stars as I believe they offer the best policy for bikers at a good premium, I felt that the information should have been transferred from the go compare website correctly or picked up from the previous year and that the wait for customer services to answer was far to long and at a price and this is the only reason that I did not give MCE a five star review.”

“In the end I was happy with the policy and premium, but it was a bit of a game to get there. Calling and renewing directly with MCE would have cost 15% more than calling and quoting a price I'd got through MCN Compare. Even when I told the MCE renewal staff they said they couldn't match the price and I'd have to call back using the phone number and quote reference from MCN Compare !!! I did this and got exactly the same cover for 15% less. The cover itself is good - I like that track day cover, legal fees, modifications, and breakdown are all included. The compulsory excess is a bit high but everything is a trade off. I don't like that the live chat has limits on what you can do, but to be fair they do call back promptly.”

“Renewed my insurance with mce as their quote was the cheapest. This is because of a high compulsory excess. Process was efficient and easy but the high excess is not negotiable.”
