Avoid !! Avoid !! Terrible service, i bought a policy online £126, submitted the documents same day were requested , they cancelled the policy 2 days later and offered me a new policy for £810 . And they are saying there is nothing they can do except apologising.  Isn't this some sort of legal fraud , unbelievable!!!! Robbery!

Principal Insurance Brokers/ Highway Insurance Co (LV) BEWARE AND AVOID AT ALL COSTS What absolute incompetents the pair of them Back in August 2019 I foolishly chose the cheapest quote on an amalgamation site. It was Highway via brokers Principal. As with others on here it was not straight forward 'quote & buy' as is usual but you have to telephone and, in my case and others, be told 'no record of this quote but we can do it for £20 or so more'. Not much money so I accepted. Forward to the end of March when I found myself in France under 'lock-down'. I emailed Principal stating that I may have to exceed the estimated 3,000 annual mileage and, possibly, the 90 day EU cover and asked what action was required. I received a confirmation of receipt email and nothing further. Imagine my concern when a message came from Highway at the end of July just 30 days before renewal that I should be aware that exceeding the estimated annual mileage will result in my comprehensive insurance being downgraded to third-party. Consequently I appear to have been using my motor-home entirely at my own risk of damage from April until now (August) when, thankfully, I change to a reputable company.

Load of messing around with them the person I spoke to was about as much use as chocolate tea pot . Insurance is only a legal document to be on the road . Claims don’t claim on your insurance . It only goes up and up . Excess cover forget about it .no claims bonus my arse . Only one claim in my life .when my car was stolen.get the no insurance drivers off the road for good .the technology is there. So get it in place .and stop using that as a big excuse to put up the cost .

Avoid them if you can. I had a policy for 11+ months, fully paid, no claims etc. So I sell me bike, and put deposit on another one. So I call them just to change bike, expecting I'll need to pay something for less then 30 days, but anyway, complete the policy, get my No claims bonus and insure again. They say they cannot cover new bike and cancel the policy. So I loose my NCB for less then 30 days which will cost me 100s of pounds. They even tried to charged me earlier in year, when I got my full licence. People on phone are decent, but it's rotten inside, I will never deal with them again.

Absolutely misleading. They increased my charges on the basis that my no claims bonus was for a car not a van which made no difference with other insurers. Utterly appalled with their customer service too.

principal insurance rip you off don't go with them they trap you and after you can't cancel insurance if you want they give you less then half what you pay please please stay away from them

I was treated terrible they don't fight your case even when it wasn't my fault they pass you about absolutely useless never use them again. The cost me money ????????????

DONT DO IT! For a few £’s less this company SEEMs good. It’s not! 6 weeks into a multibike cover, I needed to change private plate back to normal. Charge£50! Swindon’s do it free! Change bikes, from 800vech to 1000 tourer- £150 extra - my original policy is that! To cancel original policy of 6 weeks - refund?? - NOTHING! £0.00 I’ve got 4 bikes. Been a biker 42yrs! I will never go with this company again. What a joke. So save yourselves the future grief. DONT DO IT! Read other riders reviews

principal insurance are the best company to deal with especially for parents whom have to sort insurance out for their 16 year old children when they are trying to get on the road with scooters/mopeds they are cheap and very understandable and offer you the best deals all round . other companies show up as cheaper when you do a search for cheap insurance but i have tried numerous and came back to PRINCIPAL INSURANCE they are unbeatable with great customer service GOLD STAR company

The offer was better than others when I was shopping around. Unfortunately they tried to take the first payment (after the deposit was taken and insurance started) just in 5 days. There was no money on account and it led to £30 fee from Close Brothers Finance and £8 from my bank for the refused direct debit. It made this insurance less competitive. The worst thing is - just 14 days later I received the payment plan with first payment backdated.

Hi Oskars, thanks for your honest feedback. We understand your frustrations, however, when opting to pay through a loan agreement, the terms and conditions are explained to you over the phone by the Sales agent of which you have to agree with before continuing with the purchase. Please note when purchasing a van insurance policy, the first instalment is always taken nine days after (not five as you have stated), this is instructed by the loan agreement company; Close Brothers Premium Finance in line with their conditions. We are unsure of what you mean regarding the backdated first payment, please respond to the private message we have sent and we can look into this further.

this is the worst insurance in the UK. They cancelled my van policy is because i have 2 property. 1 i live and 1 for renting out but have access to rental property everyday. my driving licence is currently registered at the rental property and my van insured at my property i lived in. they dont like it, i offered them to change the address but they refused. absolutely wanker, never call to inform and left my van on the road without insurance. nasty people and lied. avoid

absolute scam when asked to provide proof of NCD I asked them to ring my old insurance company and confirm over the phone (they said that was fine and would ring me back if any problems) I was then sent threatening letters saying they were going to cancel my policy and then was charged double premium and they refused to refund even when they had proof of my NCD, bad customer service and useless call staff would give 0 stars if had an option.

Wrote to tell me they were cancelling insurance within 7 days as I had not sent necessary documentation. Documents had been sent 3 months previously. Rang them, they acknowledged letter was sent in error. Won't be renewing the policy with them.
