"had to replace the blackbox as it wouldn\u2019t charge and is powered by solar energy which in the winter period isn\u2019t exactly useful!\r\nwould highly try to avoid this as there are much better options \r\nonly advantage is that it came in way below any other competitors "

Put my insurance up by over £400 a month to over £3000 because my score went down a few points. Overall decent insurance however take advantage of young people!

Hi just a quick note for anyone looking for young driver insurance with co op.. the dangerous driving times are actually 11-5 not 11 - 6:30 as their website states. I phoned to enquiry about this as I start work at 7 most days so would have to leave by half 6.. the women advised 11-5 are the actual times and they are looking into changing info on their sites.

Son is currently insured with Co-op since he passes his test. In his first 90 days he made it into the Good area of the dashboard with a score of 63 and was rewarded with a slight refund. Great, we thought! However, in his second 90 days he has dropped 3 points to 60 which is the threshold for standard. Fine we thought, until a penalty of £76 for dropping a category!!! Yes, reward above average drivers, but being penalised for being standard!! Fine if he went into poor or very poor, phoned to be given no definitive explanation as to why you get a penalty for being standard, considering thats what you start at?? You would be as well not trying to better your driving score as if it falls for any reason you will be penalised.

I don’t like this insurance company only chose it as it was the cheapest I will be changing when I’m due a renewal

If you want your insurance price to be the same every month don’t go with this company. I will say it’s a nice surprise when you’re insurance price goes down, however my driving score was excellent and went down into good. Now I don’t drive around speeding everywhere, I don’t go out in “dangerous times” either. My policy is coming to an end and they have now decided to raise my insurance policy to higher than what I took it out on. Baring in mind I’m in the good score nearly in excellent, I could justify my insurance going from £81 to £130 if my score was in the poor or standard score but it’s not. ( I took the policy out paying £120 a month) If I were you I would look at another black box company that has a set price rather than them being able to change it. I would also suggest that if you can find a quote without a black box DO IT. Every time you drive around you’re so paranoid at your speed you’re probably looking at the speedo more than the actual road. I’m definitely counting down the two months until I can renew and go with a company which is a lot cheaper and without a black box.

The curfew is nuts. Was out driving until 11:10pm, just 10 minutes past the curfew and my 'dangerous times' score dropped from 5 to 1. For my first 3 months I received a discount of around £25 per month, a whole £225 saving for the remainder of the year. My score was 5/5 at this point. Since then I have received no discount as co op only look for improvement on your previous score. My score has only dropped to 4/5, yet I'm still paying just shy of £2000 over the year for insurance. A company of money grabbers. I'm coming up for renewal soon and am convinced that your scores plummet the closer you get to renewing. I looked at my review panel which is telling me I was braking too late, so I tested it. I began to brake at pretty much twice the distance I would usually, angering the many motorists behind me. After doing so for around a week, my braking score had remained the same. I think it's safe to say I will not be renewing with co op. Regardless of the fact they seem cheaper at the start, I would spend the extra on a different insurance provider. You'll probably save money in the long run.

The staff have no idea on how to deal with Insurance. Nobody deals with your queries and you get told different stories. Nobody resolves your issues until you put formal complaints in. Also premiums go up and down every quarter depending how you drive. Can't budget for the year. Will not be renewing with them!!!!

My experience with co op Insurance has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the onset of my insurance contract, the black box provided malfunctioned, and despite months of complaints and battles, I was left without a working replacement for six months. The level of customer service I received was utterly disgusting, and it was clear that competency was non-existent within the company. Throughout my ordeal, none of my complaints were adequately addressed. Instead, I was met with dismissive responses such as being told to simply place the malfunctioning black box on my passenger seat or to consider switching to another insurance company altogether. Even when contacted by customer relations, I was rushed off the phone without any resolution to my concerns. To add insult to injury, I was lied to multiple times, including receiving incorrect information in my customer complaint letter. Promises were made regarding the functionality of the black box, only to find out the next day that it was indeed broken and required reinstalling. Despite paying a hefty £4000 for my insurance, I was told my complaint was being closed as they fronted the cost for multiple replacement cradles and black boxes due to continuous malfunctions, even though NONE of these were my fault. By not providing me a working black box they were violating the terms and conditions of their own contract and policy and therefore making me do so. This level of negligence is unacceptable, especially considering that the faults were not of my own making. In conclusion, my entire experience with co op young drivers Insurance has been nothing short of a scam. Young drivers, in particular, should steer clear of this company to avoid being taken advantage of. Gillian Fullalove, the employee handling my complaints, has demonstrated gross incompetence throughout, leaving me utterly disgusted with the company's practices.

Daylight robbery Son changed occupation from farm labourer to apprentice plumber and they wanted an extra £500 , bearing in mind this is for a 1ltr car with black box fitted..£5.80 per hour and having to pay £3300 per year for insurance, 17 year old, it’s just not right! It’s no wonder kids drive round without insurance

Absolutely shocking experience with this company! Paid £3500 for car insurance for the year, black box was broke half the time they had to send me 4 new cradles out in the space of 6 months. Then decided to cancel my insurance for speeding doing 33 in a 30, 74 in a 70 a further so. Now having to look for another insurance. Stay far away from this company !

Had a black box installed for many years worked perfectly fine . At renewal, without informing me of change to device , a Theo in car on your windscreen was sent . We are onto 3 rd device absolutely and totally rubbish . Needs charging all the time , if the car isn’t driven over a day it looses its charge , doesn’t record journey totally and utterly rubbish

I cannot begin express my anger with this shambolic company. Black box data is always wrong, you never receive a discount now my son is at uni and the car won’t be driven apparently this is not in line with policy and so they have threatened to cancel. They haven’t chased up a non fault claim with only 6 weeks to go until we can claim a 1 year NCD we’ve had to cancel and move to different insurers. DO NOT waste your time or money with this company. Go somewhere else

Rang 9 times as Theo box wouldn’t work. Then they cancelled saying we breached contract but they wouldn’t give a new box. Only partial refund and cancelled 7:15am so son couldn’t get home

This company is actually rubbish. I had a change of vehicle so I had to change my smart box (Theo) I paid £75 charge for this along with the insurance difference. This meant I was suppose to get a new box but they sent me a plastic cradle piece of the box expecting me to re fit the old one bearing in mind I paid the full £75 for a NEW box. It was stressful changing the box but I still fit it into a new cradle it didn’t work I called them twice all I was told was to charge it take it out put it back etc…. But nothing worked. I had to keep telling them I paid for a new box so I can get one. We got there in the end after stressing me out so much. As well as, receiving countless emails about my policy requires me to do this within 14 days. However, none of this was my fault. Rubbish customer service - the day I switched my insurance from old vehicle to new the guy told me you can throw the box away because I paid for a new one to be sent. Then I get the parcel telling me to fit the old cradle in. Then the next guy tells me for a new box I have to pay £100 or £75, I had to keep telling him I’ve paid just check and send me a new one. Too much hassle just avoid this insurance please I know I will 100% once this runs out.

Shambles, stay away!! I had an insurance policy with these, I was unable to log in on my app to which they responded a recovery password would be emailed to me which I never received. They then cancelled my policy as I didn’t log in. I called up and they admitted on the phone and on emails I didn’t receive any recovery? But there’s nothing they can do about it. Stay away
