"I booked and pre-paid a pick-up at Barcelona airport for 7.40pm on Christmas Eve. The booking was made via EasyJet and the inbound flight was specified on the voucher. The flight was delayed a little and I arrived at the desk at 8.20pm. The desk was closed (the voucher said it should close at 11.00pm). The telephone number on the voucher was unanswered.\r\n\r\nWe took a taxi to our hotel and returned next day (Christmas Day). The Goldcar representative said as we had not turned up within six hours the booking was cancelled. (We had of course turned up well within the specified time, but there was no way of contacting Goldcar). He further said you would not honour the booking, if there was a car available it would cost more. He became rude and aggressive. He was not at all concerned that my wife and I who are both in our seventies, and non-Spanish speakers, were left abandoned at Barcelona airport on Christmas Day. People standing nearby were somewhat shocked at the attitude of your staff - basically \u2018couldn\u2019t care less\u2019. No refund so far"

"I don't normally write reviews but I am so angry that I made time to write this review.\r\n\r\nThis company and the people working for it are all FRAUD.\r\n\r\nThey are scammers and will continue to steal money from people.\r\n\r\nThis incident happened at the Faro airport branch.\r\n\r\nI returned the car at 04:00 am and dropped of the keys and at the time, the office was closed and there was no member of staff to check the condition of the vehicle with me and hence, they took advantage of this. I received an email at 06:00 am claiming that I had damaged the Wheel Rim.\r\n\r\nThe documentation emailed to me at the time of booking the car showed that the Wheel Rim was already damaged.\r\n\r\nThe other fraudulent practise by this company is to keep my deposit for 30 days before they decide to return it.\r\n\r\nI sensed that these people were dodgy at the time that I picked up the car because I was told that the insurance for the excess cover is mandatory and they wanted to charge me \u20ac69 for 2 days cover but I refused and they withdrew \u20ac1500 on my credit card instead as part of the additional charges.\r\n\r\nIf they think that they will keep my \u20ac100, then I have news for them. I will raise a CHARGEBACK with my credit card company.\r\n\r\nI made the booking through Opodo and I will also be raising a complaint with them .\r\n\r\nAVOID, AVOID, AVOID and AVOID THESE SCAMMERS."

"Unfair - misleading - do not use them !!\r\nRef nr : 23926937\r\nMy father in law (80yrs) rented a car and took out EVERY insurance option he could take - including \"key and go\".\r\nUpon receiving the car at ALC (a Citroen with more than 65000 Km on the clock) he noticed a LOT of user damage \/ and the car was \"soiled and unkept\") and went back to the desk clerk to ask for a joint inspection. The answer was \" no need - you are FULLY INSURED\".\r\n(he hated driving it as it was - in his words - \"dirty\")\r\n\r\nWhen returning the car at the airport - a week later - he asked the attending clerk for an inspection \/ once again was told - \"no need\", drop keys in box please.\r\n\r\nAfter a few days a letter was received from Goldcar advising that they had found stains in the upholstery and they had taken 150 Euro from the credit card ..\r\n(to clean the car they say \/ after they refused the inspection at the start of the rental - as he TOLD them so) ...\r\n\r\nThat is theft - that is unfair and misleading - if you ask for a joint inspection due concern about the state of the car - and it is deemed not neccessary - then you can not charge a customer later for something that was already there.\r\n\r\nNow Goldcar - after a lot of writing to and fro with Customer Service persist in this charge - yet - believe me - this will cost them.\r\n\r\nWe run \/ manage a walking (Caminantes) group on the Costa Blanca (trails in the Hinterland) and have around 150 to 180 guests per annum that all rent a car. We will advise each and every one of them that a rental from GoldCar is simply not acceptable - and we will make sure that we spead the \"news...\"\r\n\r\nIf Goldcar wish to cheat a customer out of 150 Euro's - we will make sure that they never get the opportunity again from anyone we know.\r\n\r\nBe aware - they are not honest !!!"

"Dreadful experience at Alicante airport. Took so long for everything to get sorted to actually pick up a car, even though it was all pre-booked. Was told lie after lie about insurance (I had already taken out extra insurance privately) and customer service was non existent. Not the car i was expecting or even close and was made to sign for car before i had even seen it and before checking for any damages. When it was checked with my wife, i went back to ask for changes to be made but was refused. Every person i spoke to was rude and did not want to answer any of my questions. Was charged too much when paid as lost out to exchange rates which was not explained to me. More money was taken from my account which my bank is looking in to. Never got the full amount back from the deposit and doubt i ever will. Car could not be checked when dropped off and staff refused to help me and surprise surprise they sent me a bill the next day for extra made up damages to car. Also sent me an email stating i had been involved in a car accident which is utterly ridiculous. I had photos and videos of car on collection and drop off which they are not interested in. No replies from to my emails which is no surprise. They had literally drawn on the vehicle with a pink marker to try and say i had done damage. Also damage to the door handle which was a spec of mud. I had the car for a week so did get a little dirty. Complete scam company who will do everything they can to bleed you of as much money possible. Avoid at all costs."

"Never Ever rent a car from Goldcar. I made a reservation online, paid 117\u20ac. When arrived at the Barcelona airport to pick up the car, they told I reserved TOO SMALL car, she has THIS one only at a very good price, today only 38\u20ac +10\u20ac, I was shocked. I told her it was too expensive for me (12 days stay), couldn't afford it, then she spoke smth with a colleague and made it little cheaper, her arguments were that it was a very good car, just a little bigger, and conditioning working, GPS working, easy to drive... I accepted cause I believed her words, it was the only one available.. I got down, found the car, and guess what GPS didn't work, radio didn't work, menu didn't work, nothing worked , and yes it was a brand new looking car, not even a scratch... I went back she changed the car to more scratched one, I thought she'd pay some refund cause this other car was not luxurious, she said no refund, don't worry, all will be fine, just put me an 9 or 10 points please, I will put her ZERO, DANIELA from Goldcar Barcelona. \r\nLower I will attach the screenshots for my painments"
