Absolute scam!!! I booked a car for 36€ and ended p having to pay 360€. A month later I got charged another 40€ for some made up fine or something. NEVER again with Goldcar.

Shocking company, even a possible scam company Advise to never use Everything not good including attitude of receptionists, who took pleasure in taking the p, in Spanish, even though they spoke English Car, not as booked, in shocking condition, damage all over. Dirty High pressure selling used Ridiculous expensive insurance Use fear to get you to buy Car not full of fuel when I picked the car up leaving me to pay astronomic fees when returned after doing 130km I’ll never use this company ever again Should be closed down

Avoid at all costs. Worse car hire experience ever. Rude staff. Long wait. Damaged cars. Wrong information on paperwork. I could go on and on and on. Shocking! Never again will I use Goldcar! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Avoid at all costs, and do not be misled by a cheap price. When picking up the car, “All-Risks” insurance was presented as almost obligatory (€400). Then the car broke down, and I had to take a taxi (€250) to pick up a replacement vehicle. I was told the taxi cost would be reimbursed, but it was later refused. The breakdown was apparently considered my fault, so the All-Risks insurance did not cover it (€500). The second car had a non-functioning air conditioner—two weeks in Puglia in the summer with no A/C. I could exchange it, but I was required to drive to the office myself, a two-hour trip each way. A complete drama!

Avoid this company at all costs. We went on a trip to Oviedo we returned the car full with petrol. Still 6 weeks later the £67 pounds (77 euros) have not been returned to my credit card.

I booked an estate car with goldcar Alicante airport . It was very reasonably priced , I didn’t take full cover so the deposit was blocked on my credit card . On return , the car was checked over and given the all clear . The deposit was removed from my card pending payment the very next day . All in all a perfect experience. I read so many bad reviews so was concerned but I had absolutely no problems at all . Will use again .

Underhand practice at collection counter. I collected my car key at Malaga airport and due to being in a hurry for a mtg did not question the additional €175 charge on the contract (fuel etc). Upon returning the car with a full tank I received just €82, when I questioned this with customer service they said €29 for airport tax (fair enough I thought) and €64 for a vehicle upgrade that I was not told of not was it needed as I was travelling on my own. The Malaga counter staff are pushing the hard sell for insurance, breakdown etc. but to put in a charge without mention is a new low. I raised with the Customer Service team who said that as if signed I had to pay the upgrade. Beware everyone and take a minute to check what you are paying for, some really unscrupulous counter staff at Malaga Goldcar counter.

After having a reservation, I went to pick up my car and the idiot behind the counter told me that I needed an international driver license to rent a car in Spain however, the law states that no international driver license needed if you are staying less than 90 days in Spain, I have a California driver license valid and it’s accepted in Spain. I went to OK Mobility, and I rented a car there the same day. This is what you get when you deal with companies like gold car Don’t waste your money all your time and go to a real rental place. The counter guy was a real loser

Very old car, without modern amenities and with missing elements, bad and misleading service, bad attitude of the staff in Bologna Italy. I booked a Fiat 500 and got a Lancia Ypsilon (probably the ugliest car ever made by an Italian manufacturer). You can't rent something like that in the area where Ferrari, Ducati, Pagani, Lamborghini and Maserati are made. And that one had OVER 78,000 kilometers on it, with missing interior and exterior parts and strange engine noises until it warmed up.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY This is by far the worst rental experience I’ve ever had. They do not disclose that dropping the vehicle off at a different location comes with an extra fee—you only discover it after you’ve booked and paid, buried in the fine print of your documents. On top of that, the SUV we were given was already damaged and scratched. They then tried to charge us for the existing damage, which I am currently disputing because I had the foresight to take a video. To make matters worse, when we returned the SUV with a full tank of gas, we were hit with yet another ridiculous charge—apparently they even charge you for returning it full. This company is dishonest, predatory, and completely unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra with a reputable rental company. AVOID THIS RENTAL COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!

Worst car hire company I have ever experienced. Car was in a really bad condition with dents scratches and bald tires. To make matters worse after 2 days the oil warning light came on so I had to buy oil. On returning the car they have charged me over £300 for 2 scratches I disputed. Please pay a bit extra and avoid this scam company.

I rented a car with Goldcar in Marseille for 15 days. The first car was bumped all over. I didn't mind so much because I paid for a full insurance. But why do I say "the first car"? Because the "Engine fault" light came on after 10 days and I had to change it. Of course they didn't deliver a new car to me. No, I had to drive to Marseille again. The second car was so bumped on the co-drivers side that we all the time thought that my wife didn't close the doors properly when we went over 80 km/h. And even after that I would write a bad review. No, I am writing it because two weeks after coming home from the holiday they deducted 40 euros from the credit card with no explanation or an e-mail. I didn't react immedietly and after 2 days another 40 euros off the credit card. Again no explanation! I had to lock the credit card. I wrote to them and after 10 days they appologised that the second 40 euros were a mistake. I asked them what was the reason for the first 40 euros. After a month no reply. My bank is now handling the situation. NEVER AGAIN WITH THE GOLDCAR!

I rented a car from Goldcar in Palma Mallorca (July 2025). Two months later, they charged me 40 EUR without any explanation, even though I had not used their service since. Their customer service is slow and unhelpful. Be very careful — they advertise cheap prices, but add hidden fees later. I strongly do not recommend this company.

i paid 917 for 20 days for a car fully comp. paid for full in advance. said it would be refunded. did not receive it back, when i rang they said that there was a spanish tax of of 25 euros and a cleaning fee for the car. the car was handed back in normal condition after 3 weeks. customer care agent spent 20 minutes telling lies. i dont leave reviews usually , please avoid

Appalling company! Took possession of vehicle at Murcia airport. Took video of condition.The video clearly shows me pointing out two small scratches to the boot area. The lady was not concerned. On return of the vehicle she now made a great deal of the two scratches and I was charged for the damage. This took place in June 2025. We are now in September and I have not received a satisfactory response to my complaint. I use Murciaat least three times a year. I will not be using Goldcar again and I strongly advise you to go to another company.

Shocking service from start to finish ! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY level of service is the worst i have ever dealt with in years of hiring cars all over the world. They are sharks with upsell and scare you into taking all the covers... Quality and cleanliness of the vehicles was appalling, I am still waiting for a response after one and half months so will now be taking this the the Spanish authorities that regulate car hire in ESP
