The car was really old , over 71,000 in kilometers, the car was full of Dennis and scratches all around the outside and underneath, inside the car was absolutely filthy dirty, I had a quote from the insurance from the head office before I picked the car up, when I went to the office the credits was completely different a lot more expensive a complete rip off, they just made figures up at the desk, a very unhappy customer

Do not use - Do not trust - We returned car full of fuel but on return to UK were charged £11 to top up and a £60 penalty charge. Fuel gauge full on return as topped up less than 10 minutes from airport return (& checked when exiting car). Customer Service basically ignored issues raised didn`t ask for further details just returned a stock reply

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONSIDERING A RENTAL WITH GOLDCAR. Booked a car through Goldcar in Alicante airport. I previously worked in car rental for many years so no the aim of the game is to extract as much cash as possible at the counter which agents get generous commissions on. That being said the tactics I observed when I collected was nothing short of disgusting to the point that other customers were almost in tears. The agent that served me tried his hardest but I didn’t fall for any of the scare tactics. I was told I had no insurance for my car only the third party vehicle if I had an accident. This is false as I had total coverage with collision damage waiver and excess payable at 1400 euros. I was then told I wasn’t getting the car I booked as I needed to read the terms of conditions. When I probed further the agent backed down. The whole process took what felt like forever as the agent just stalled almost in a way to provoke and get a reaction so he could then find reason to refuse giving me the car. However after what felt like one of the most challenging experience’s, I was finally given keys and told ‘303’ which I assumed was the parking bay but no further explanation on how to get there. Fortunately I knew ALC airport quite well so could navigate it un-assisted but some gester to offer assistance would have been polite at least. Once I got to the car I inspected it thoroughly and confirmed all damage against the report they had given me. All the damage was marked as it should be but I took some pictures to make sure I had additional evidence. The car was ok and for the price I paid it did the job however I was advised by a Spanish friend that under Spanish traffic law a car with smashed lights is illegal. Goldcar had given me a non- road worthy vehicle ! Upon return I waited almost 10 minutes to check the car in until a miserable and clearly non motivated staff member appeared. She checked the car however like a crime scene investigator with a torch and close attention to detail. So close that she then decided to try and charge me for the broken light !!! Fortunately I had the all the paperwork and my pictures so was able to contest this to the supervisor who quickly stamped my paperwork to say no charge was applicable. Lesson learnt for me - Never use Goldcar ! It could have been an expensive and uncomfortable lesson if I was not wise to the antics that regretfully do on go on in this industry. My advise to you is try Record / Malco or Clickrent in Alicante as prices are good and service is generally better !

Would like to address the circumstances surrounding the agreed rental with EasyTerra and Goldccar : billed to my account for unjustified reasons and due to their lack of cooperation. On the day I picked up the vehicle, I was informed that it needed to be returned clean. However, traveling to the airport inevitably makes the exterior of the car dusty, and there are no cleaning services available in the vicinity of the airport. To my surprise, upon returning the vehicle, I was charged additional fees for the exterior not being cleaned. I view this as not being part of the agreement with EasyTerra-Goldcar and perceive it as a tactic to present a low rental price that ultimately becomes more expensive. In the spirit of mutual cooperation and in light of the agreed rental price, I fully tried to get a refund of the amount charged. No success. Furthermore, I requested that any future pricing clearly indicate if there are expected additional costs associated with local rentals -as this kind of issues

After four years of loyal use of Goldcar, I must leave a negative review because they penalized me €60, stating that I breached the "full-to-full" tank policy. I filled the tank, washed, and vacuumed the car the day before returning it to the airport because I had an early morning return. The trip from my hotel to the airport was about 30 minutes, so I spent approximately €5-8 on fuel. I had left a deposit of €138 for the full-to-full policy and spent €68 returning it to full. Apart from that €60 penalty, I ended up paying €266 in total, which I think is unfair. For this reason, I would not recommend this company.

Absolute scandal!!! We rented a car for 5 days through Carjet, to be picked up in Marseille. I decided that this time I would choose the 'peace of mind' option and purchased additional insurance. Upon arrival in Marseille, I was informed that I didn’t have full insurance and was offered the option to either buy it for - attention please - a non-refundable €150 for a 5-day rental (€30 per day, sic!), or have a €1100 deposit blocked on my card. I told Goldcar that I had already purchased insurance and didn’t need another, to which they responded that the insurance was from a different company, and from Goldcar’s perspective, the car was uninsured. I asked why the cost was so high (€30 per day, when normally it’s between €6–8), and the lady informed me that “peace of mind and stress-free driving” costs that much. When I refused again and agreed to the deposit being blocked, the agent refused to inspect the car with me to note and record any existing scratches or dents. I asked if it was a brand-new car straight from the showroom, because otherwise it must have some marks. I was told to just take photos myself... After finding scratches on the rear of the car, I asked the agent if we could mark them on the form, and said that since I didn’t have extended insurance, I didn’t want to be blamed for them. I was again told to just take photos... In the end, the existing scratches were not included in the report!!! I consider this behaviour by Goldcar employees to be highly inappropriate and strongly advise against renting a car from this company, where scamming customers seems to be standard practice.

Was charged extra insurance. Also charged a deposit. Was under the impression from the staff than only 52 euros was an extra insurance which I was ok with, but they ended up charging me about 140 euros. Scam. Still haven't even received my fuel deposit refund nearly two weeks later, so all in all, I have been charged £300 plus my original payment of £100. Disgusting company.

Rented a car in Lisbon via Ryanair. They overcharged me 31Euro for a 'mandatory' toll device that was not mentioned on the website when I paid. Then they charged me 85 Euro for a mark, not even a scratch, on a non painted plastic wheel protection. Money grabbers, never again!

Hired a car at Gran Canaria airport. Bait and switch tactics. No mention of a 1200 euro deposit and 180 fuel deposit. They returned neither despite comprehensive video recorded of the return where the rep at the goldcar station at airport said I'd be recieving both back with no deduction.

Like everyone else, not even worth 1 star. I hired a car in Las Palmas, taking full insurance out online. At the airport they charged us even more, almost €300, more than double the car was hired for. The agent at the desk said not to worry about the car as they were aware of the damages. No agent was with us collecting the car. On return to the airport, again no agent, just left the car. Two days after returning home, had an email claiming damage to the car caused by me to the tune of €443.21! I froze my card yet my bank still authorised it. Fighting right now as it is still pending but I am not paying them a penny without actual proof it was me. I know I didn't damage the car as I hardly drove it, it was sat outside either the hotel first few days or bungalow restaurant of the week! Avoid this company like the plague!

Not even worth the star. They gave us a car in Barcelona, charged a 400 euro deposit and an extra insurance. Upon returning the car in Alicante they told us the car was missing the hatchback cover. Item that was not there upon pickup and that we didn't think was missing it not being there... Now wont give us back our deposit! There was no one there when we picked up the car to verify the car with us. We asked to see the cars previous inspection report. I see we are not the first to have an awful experience with Goldcar.

I recently rented a vehicle from GoldCar in Madrid and had a generally satisfactory experience, though with a few caveats to be aware of. Positives: The booking process was smooth, and the car provided was clean, modern, and performed well throughout my rental period. The pick-up location was easy to find, and the return process was straightforward without unnecessary delays. The vehicle itself was reliable and met my expectations. Areas for Improvement: One of the noticeable drawbacks was the waiting time at the counter upon arrival — it took longer than expected, and the staff seemed rushed, likely due to the volume of customers. While the staff were polite, the interaction felt somewhat transactional rather than customer-focused. Another important point is the additional charges. GoldCar offers various add-ons such as full insurance coverage, fuel policies, and other optional extras. If you’re not familiar with these, the total price can increase significantly compared to the initial booking rate. I recommend thoroughly reading the rental terms and conditions in advance and being clear about what’s included in your booking to avoid surprises at the counter. During the booking process, I reserved my GoldCar rental through Ryanair and opted for the full insurance coverage offered via RentalCover.com for £29. However, upon arrival at the GoldCar counter, I was informed by the staff that they do not recognize third-party insurance like RentalCover.com. They explained that in the event of an accident or any damage, GoldCar would immediately charge me £3,000, and I would need to handle any reimbursement directly with RentalCover.com — a process they warned could take months, or even years. This left me feeling uncertain and uneasy, especially being in a new country. To avoid potential complications, I reluctantly opted for GoldCar’s own insurance at an additional cost of £90.

Big scammers!! beware!! They convinces me to take the extra full insurance for few hundred euro, but they found another way to rip me off - after returning the car they sent me a bill of few hundred euro more to pay for a missing car compressor - that didnt exist in first place... I never opened this part of the car that has the compressor. The worst rental company ever - never order from them!!

Very dishonest company. Have lied about damaged and taken multiple card payments on different dates by holding on to my card details. I have had to cancel my card to stop them taking anything else.

They tried to charge me weeks after my hire was over for proven pre-existing damage (I had the stamped damage report and photos from collection to prove it). When I went to the airport directly to query this the woman at the desk refused to look at my documentation (stamped by her!), verbally abused me, refused to give me her name when asked, then attempted to snatch my phone out of my hand when I said i'd be taken a picture of her to make a complaint. She then processed the payment from my card while I was stood there despite me having 14 days to dispute the payment (this was on day 1). Avoid at all costs. Truly these people are scammers. Use OK Mobility instead who are fantastic (and usually cheaper)

Goldcar CHEATED on us big time! Aware of any class action against Goldcar? We rented a car at Goldcar Milano airport for 5 days. After we returned the car Goldcar sent us a document declaring that everything was OK. A few days after that Goldcar charged our bank account an extra 500 euros without informing us. After contacting Goldcar customer service they said that they charged us a 500 euro penalty because we had visited Switzerland for a few hours. Can you believe this?!? We think that must be against at least one law. Is there any Class action against Goldcar that we could take part in? In any case, be aware of these low-class cheaters!
