Shocking, used in Alicante. Car was old and smelly, dirty and costumer service, well thee wasn’t any! Absolutely disgusting. Will never use again

Forced into paying 10x more than my initial agreed cost. When I arrived at the desk in Palma de Mallorca Airport I was given a bill of over €200 (rather than €19,62). When I queried the additional charges I was told that they were all obligatory (including two different types of insurance when I already had the insurance I needed). I was told that I needed the upgrade to an automatic car 'because you are British' despite challenging this more than once and explaining that I did not want an automatic car. I'm now going through the process if trying to get my money back. Looking online, many others have had the same problem so there is lots of help out there! On the plus side, the car was great, my fuel deposit was refunded in a timely manner and they didn't sting me with any other extra fees after returning the car.

The car we had just rented broke down at 23.00 after the office had shut. We had to call the breakdown service and eventually got a taxi on to our holiday let. The next day they refused to send a new car and we had to take a bus to Kerkyra to get a new car. They refused to compensate us for our taxi and bus (70 Euros) nor for our inconvenience. My advice would be rent with a reputable car hire company, never with Gold Car

BAD** BAD**BAD**BAD** BE CAREFUL .!.! The price for a small car for 2 days was ***39€ on Carjet....Then when in GOLCAR...Not possible to pay Credit contact Forced to take other option more expensive!.!. When we received bill + 234€ What?+ 39€ +CarJet =30€ +Gaz + ***303€*** BAD** VERY bad service

Used these guys in Malaga on a recent trip and was pleasantly surprised. Nico at the service counter was great. He explained everything to me from getting our car, to returning it, making sure we had contact numbers for roadside assistance and making sure we understood what fuel the car took. That car was great, clean and the return process was just as simple. Highly recommend. If you see Nico at the counter send him our regards.

Booked a car with Goldcar. My flight got postponed by one day. Customer service said I had 6 hours to pick up the vehicle and it wouldn't be available next day even if I paid for the whole week. Second driver couldn't pick it up either. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

Rented a car through Doyouitaly.com and paid in advance. Goldcar refused us the car because they said my credit card is a "prepaid" one. This is not so. Doyouitaly.com did not help. I lost my money. Goldcar is a scam!

Gold car screwed us over. They charged €61 for fuel, despite a full set of bars on the fuel indicator when returned. Also waited 2 hours to collect the keys. GOLD CAR WERE AWFUL!

We hired a car from GoldCar in Toulouse 16th to 20th Feb 2024. Picked up the car which was a little rough but as we had full insurance, I wasn't too worried. The issue came after returning to the UK, within a couple of weeks we received a email from GoldCar stating I had a traffic violation while travelling in France and that a €50 admin fee would apply. We emailed GoldCar asking for additonal information and they advised that the violation will arrve in the post shortly. To date 24th May 2024, no violation has arrived in the post. I have contacted GoldCar repeatly asking for a full refund but they refuse. I really feel me have been scammed by this company as they could provide no proof of this so called traffic violation. Yes it is only €50 but its the principle of being ripped by his company. My advise is not to use this company as based on other genuine reviews online and not the fake ones on thier website, we are not the only people who have had issues with this company.

We didn’t get full deposit back they kept £149 of it saying we signed for extra insurance when we told them we didn’t want it we were under impression we were just signing to rent it as he spoke little English apparently it’s happened to 181 reviews on line don’t use this dreadful firm in Lanzarote scammers

Took the car back after 9 days 19/04/2024 jerez airport and they discovered damage to wheel rim aprox 2 cm.Argued i had never parked on a road so it would have been impossible to do. Then while waiting on the plane received an email showing a scratch to front bumper as well which i had not been shown.Totally fraudulent behaviour.Charged 208 euros for damage.

The representatives at check-in are extremely good at upselling add-ons to the extent that we purchased on their recommendation the insurance waiver (excess) at an additional cost of €200 for a week's hire. For this extra charge plus of course the hire charge itself, one would have expected the vehicle being provided would be damage free and in pristine condition. But no. The car that was supplied for covered in marks and unsightly damaged on both sides, so what was the point. The vehicle mileage was also high in excess of 56,000 Kms and looked and drove as though it had had a hard life.

Terrible customer service. I booked a car via Holiday Autos. My flight was cancelled so I had to get a later flight on the same day but neither I nor Holiday Autos could contact Gold Car to ask them to hold the car for me because the only telephone number they give was unmanned and their website wouldn’t allow amendments. They just treated me as a “no-show” and kept my money. When I contacted their customer service they just kept repeating their T&Cs. No acknowledge of their obvious shortcomings in customer service. Awful!

My last experience with doyouitaly was a nightmare, let me explain better... On Sunday 1/21/2024 after checking the rental conditions, I reserved and paid for a car for 3 weeks (from 1/22/2024 to 2/10/2024) for an unexpected trip that I had to take. The collection of the car should have taken place at the GOLDCAR agency at Cagliari airport at 9:00 am and the return in the same place at 12:00 pm after 3 weeks. I showed up at the agency desk punctually but when it came time to collect the car, I presented my driving licence, rental voucher and payment card (a Mastercard Debit) as instructed. To my surprise, the agency employee, seeing my card, told me that she could not accept it and that they would only accept credit cards. I proceeded to show her the conditions which indicated the accepted payment methods which states exactly : “A major credit card (Visa or Mastercard) in the name of the main driver is required in order to collect the car. (Please note that cards without the driver's name on will not be accepted). This company will not accept prepaid, recharge or virtual credit cards. Debit cards (Visa or Mastercard) are accepted. If you use a debit card for the security deposit, the deposit amount will be charged to your card and refunded at the end of the hire. Please note that Diners, American Express, Electron, Virtual, Prepaid, Revolving, Rechargable, PostePay, Paypal or Maestro cards are not accepted.” The employee said that this was incorrect information and reiterated that they (GOLDCAR) do not accept debit cards, and advised me to call the number on the voucher for any clarification, which I did in her presence, after having I explained what happened to the customer service person on the phone, they told me that they would send an email and that I would have to provide the requested information, ensuring that I would receive my refund. To make a long story short, I had to rent the car without a reservation from another agency and unfortunately after a long series of emails in which I provided all the documentation requested and several phone calls, I was denied a refund, the reason being my invalid payment card not a Mastercard Debit but a Maestro according to them. I have the entire history of email communications available. I advise you to be careful with doyouitaly and Goldcar, they have not honored their own conditions nor reimbursed the cost for a service not provided, much less for the damage caused.

I rented a car, for my wife, through Rentalcars.com, they arrange a car through Goldcar Sevilla, all the insurances were done through Rentalcars, but the desk in Sevilla, treaten my wife not to give the car without an expensive insurance with Goldcar, after an hour she paid the Goldcar insurance, My adive NEVER go through Goldcar, they are thiefs.

I rented a Kia Niro EV with a range of 400 kilometers. The car was unavailable, and I was offered a higher-category car, alleging it was better for traveling long distances and saving gas. This information was given to me by the representative who served me at the counter and the one who gave me the vehicle (MG plug-in). It turned out that they gave me wrong information and I spent a lot of money on gas. Of course, I had to pay extra for renting this car. I requested compensation, which the company denied. Also, the company did not accept its responsibility. Goldcar's web page regarding making reservations online is neither friendly nor effective. Chat and telephone verification do not work, at least from the USA, and I had to call from the USA to Spain several times to make and pay for the reservation. I do not recommend this company; many car rental options exist in Spain. Usually, the cheapest is the most expensive and less reliable. Awful Rental Car Company.

We received the car with 3/4 tank, returned it with 7/8 and was charged 63 Euro including a 50 Euro penalty despite sending them pictures of the fuel gauge at the beginning of our trip (including the time shown on the screen). I was a loyal costumer but they chose not to believe me. It was the 2nd time I got a car with not a full tank from GoldCar. They lost me as a costumer.
