★ Doesn't even deserve a 1 star. Terrible customer service. This is a common issue I have read with every customer who has left a review. Wish we read the reviews properly before using these! We got charged over $150 euros for a full tank of fuel. We filled up a mile away and they said because we used 2 litres it's empty. What are you supposed to do!? Fly!!? Jokers. Do not Use!

I booked through Ryan air with a quote… I booked through Ryan air with a quote for £68.23 for a weeks hire. On collecting of the car, we were informed of extra insurance cover that would be 30 euros. Seemed worth the cover. The man was also saying we had to pay a deposit for fuel but this would be returned to us. All very stressful tbh, when u have spent 4 hours on a flight and you just want to get to the resort On checking credit card bill, we were charged £163.07 This is an overpayment of nearly £70.00 It’s now a month in of contacting Ryan air and Goldcar and still nothing has been resolved. Ryan air have said it is nothing to do with them and Goldcar have blatantly lied and told me they have returned my monies, however this is not true. Please think seriously before booking with this company.

First and foremost, DO NOT RENT HERE IF YOU WANT TO WORK WITH HONEST PEOPLE. I had to sign the document of the state of the car before even receiving the car keys or even seeing the car. Upon arriving I saw damages to the car that were not documented. After telling the people on site, I was assured it was updated in their system and it all was written. I took pictures anyway as I thought that was weird. When giving back the car, no one on site. The next day a huge amount of money was deducted of my account without any explanation or email telling me why. After contacting Goldcar, I still have no clue what 'extra damages' were done. Goldcar has been silent since, I am still waiting to receive a receipt with the costs of the reparations (which are not going to happen as I am sure they will do the same trick to the next renter). You have been warned, beware.

Hvis man ønsker at starte sin ferien godt - SÅ LEJ IKKE JERES BIL FRA DETTE FUSKER FIRMA, som lave det vildeste scam mht. ekstra bilforsikringer og giver dig en lavere bilgruppe end du har betalt for. MEGET VIGTIGT INFO I kan kun betale med kreditkort ellers skal du tvunget til at købe deres dyreste forsikring. Vi lejer aldrig bil hos dem igen!! Et godt råd skal Goldcar havde med på vejen - lad vær med at prøve at skyde jeres kunder, det er en meget kortsigtet strategi!!

I booked a car at Barcelona airport. During the boarding at Zurich Airport, we were informed about a long delay in the flight, due to weather conditions. I tried to contact GoldCar Call Center at that time, but since it was after 8.00 pm CET – they only work from 8am to 8pm - I only managed to get the customer service email on the website, whom I wrote about the flight delay, knowing it was the last one of that day. During the flight to Barcelona, they replied me back, saying that they were waiting for me at Terminal 2 - I was arriving at Terminal 1, but it was OK - and that I'd able to collect the car. The flight landed after 11.30PM, and after I collected my luggage and I went to T2- more or less 35m aprox. The unpleasant surprised was to find that the office in T2 was closed, and nobody was there. The office in T1 was also closed because I checked before going to T2. I've sent several emails to customer service email address, attaching the email I received from them (saying they were "waiting for me"), and requesting to pick up the car the next day - because the payment was charged to my credit card - but until now I have no response. The day after, I was able to contact the customer service by phone, and when I explained all the external circumstances, I heard "well, you have lost the reservation, what a pity". A similar, but much more rude and aggressive response I got from an employee at the Barcelona Airport office, who practically told me "well, I suggest you sue the airline company because you were unable to follow our service clauses". It could happen that I had not "meet GoldCar services demands" but if customers inform about a flight delay - beyond their will- and GoldCard confirms that they are waiting for them, they should do so. They also had the right to informed me that due to my arrival time, despite the payment, the reservation was lost, but this was not the case. If a FYI: During the booking process, there was not any option to add the flight number, which would allow GoldCar to know the arrival of their customers.

At return the operative smiled, told me everything was fine and got me to sign a computer screen with no documentation attached. Then I got an email from them with a document with my signature on it showing damage I hadn’t done or seen. 260 euros charged to my card. Completely dishonest - don’t go anywhere near these criminals

Se vi presentate in ritardo a ritirare la macchina non ve la danno e non vi rimborsano. Se avete prenotato per 7 giorni e avete qualche problema per il quale non potete presentarvi il giorno del ritiro ma vi presentate il giorno successivo, non vi danno la macchina e non vi restituiscono nemmeno i soldi per il reriodo restante. In caso di problemi di questo tipo la GOLD CAR non risponde nemmeno dei rimborsi e siete costretti a chiamare il broker DO YOU ITALY su un numero britannico che risponde dopo parecchio tempo (con tariffa internazionale) e solo in lingua inglese. Se parlate in italiano vi riattaccano il telefono dopo un po'. Se avete un problema siete spacciati, la GOLD CAR non vi si fila minimamente e ve la dovete vedere con DO YOU ITALY a Londra che ovviamente se ne infischia di voi che molto probabilmente siete di fretta, siete di passaggio ed é impossibile difendersi. Per qualsiasi tipo di problema i vostri soldi non li recuperate.

I've been hiring cars for nearly 20 years and feel knowledgeable to the tricks that scam you out of money. I always video the car before leaving and after returning and take pictures of the fuel level etc but my they got me on my recent trip 2 weeks ago. I had hired the car via DoYouSpain comparison site and took their insurance out and presented the certificate at the Malaga check-in desk which was acknowledged by the rep. He then told me i'm covered for everything so won't need to check the car out and he just needed to block money on my credit card for fuel and excess which is exactly what i was told they would do. I signed something and was handed the contract wrapped in a Goldcar envelope. As i was eager for my holiday i didn't check the contract details because i thought i was safe from a scam. But i wasn't. The rep had added another load of their own insurance of 209 euros. He'd made me feel comfortable and trust him while he lied to me to fraudulently steal money. I won't be using these crooks again. The car itself need the tyres inflating on the way from the rental garage to my villa and on the second day a warning came up about low oil level. Car probably needed a service which i wasn't prepared to do. Shocking even comparing against other hire companies!!!

I had the worst experience with Goldcar and will never use them again. I went to hire a car from Barcelona airport with a prepaid booking using a credit card in my married name. However, because my driving license and passport were in my maiden name, they refused to give me a car. This refusal left me stranded at Barcelona airport with two small children. Last year, in the other terminal, they gave me a car with no issue using the same credit card, passport, and driving license. This year, for some reason, it was a problem. Upon arrival, the man at the desk had a horrible, moody demeanor. He didn’t even ask for my booking reference, and his level of arrogance was unreal. When I questioned their policy, he got defensive, and I became understandably upset. My children were with me, and he shockingly told me that people like me should be sterilized and shouldn’t be allowed to have children. My kids were crying and distraught by what he had said. That’s the level of customer service you can expect from Goldcar. To make matters worse, Goldcar has terrible reviews all over the internet. There’s even a Facebook page dedicated to people being scammed by them, and apparently, The Sun newspaper is looking to do a story on them, collecting people’s experiences. They should be exposed and shut down for their dodgy scams and horrible treatment of customers. I've never experienced such terrible customer service before in my life. After this ordeal, I went to Sixt, who were incredibly supportive. They told me they had witnessed a constant flow of angry customers leaving Goldcar without a car that day and said it was a regular occurrence. Never use these cowboys; they are atrocious!

Terrible service, terrible up sale of services (additional insurance, collateral, etc.), which increases the amount stated on the website for rent by x2-x3 times. It is better to choose Eurocar even it seemsed that they have higher price (actually they are not), as the Golden car will have the same price, and even higher, taking into account all upsales. Goldencar are scammers.

Forced into paying 10x more than my initial agreed cost. When I arrived at the desk in Palma de Mallorca Airport I was given a bill of over €200 (rather than €19,62). When I queried the additional charges I was told that they were all obligatory (including two different types of insurance when I already had the insurance I needed). I was told that I needed the upgrade to an automatic car 'because you are British' despite challenging this more than once and explaining that I did not want an automatic car. I'm now going through the process if trying to get my money back. Looking online, many others have had the same problem so there is lots of help out there! On the plus side, the car was great, my fuel deposit was refunded in a timely manner and they didn't sting me with any other extra fees after returning the car.

The car we had just rented broke down at 23.00 after the office had shut. We had to call the breakdown service and eventually got a taxi on to our holiday let. The next day they refused to send a new car and we had to take a bus to Kerkyra to get a new car. They refused to compensate us for our taxi and bus (70 Euros) nor for our inconvenience. My advice would be rent with a reputable car hire company, never with Gold Car

BAD** BAD**BAD**BAD** BE CAREFUL .!.! The price for a small car for 2 days was ***39€ on Carjet....Then when in GOLCAR...Not possible to pay Credit contact Forced to take other option more expensive!.!. When we received bill + 234€ What?+ 39€ +CarJet =30€ +Gaz + ***303€*** BAD** VERY bad service

Used these guys in Malaga on a recent trip and was pleasantly surprised. Nico at the service counter was great. He explained everything to me from getting our car, to returning it, making sure we had contact numbers for roadside assistance and making sure we understood what fuel the car took. That car was great, clean and the return process was just as simple. Highly recommend. If you see Nico at the counter send him our regards.

Booked a car with Goldcar. My flight got postponed by one day. Customer service said I had 6 hours to pick up the vehicle and it wouldn't be available next day even if I paid for the whole week. Second driver couldn't pick it up either. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

Rented a car through Doyouitaly.com and paid in advance. Goldcar refused us the car because they said my credit card is a "prepaid" one. This is not so. Doyouitaly.com did not help. I lost my money. Goldcar is a scam!

Gold car screwed us over. They charged €61 for fuel, despite a full set of bars on the fuel indicator when returned. Also waited 2 hours to collect the keys. GOLD CAR WERE AWFUL!
