Recipes are fantastic but sadly I’ve ordered 2 boxes now with missing ingredients. No warning about missing items. When I contacted customer service they added the cost of the items to the Gousto account so inevitably you would have to buy another box to get that money back.

Great recipes, great food but continuously missing items

Had my first order this week having decided to give it a try as I,m fed up of thinking of what to cook. Only on recipe 2 and about to report second problem. First was a mouldy pepper (. £2 credit) and now an item is missing. Fortunately I have a bottle of Chinese wine but I bet lots don’t. Order arrived as agreed. Have an order for next week but can’t see me continuing when I have to pay full price.

The convenience is unbeatable, having pre-portioned ingredients arrive on your doorstep without going to the shops is a definite plus. The recipes, on the whole (and with some tweaks), are pretty tasty. However the growing list of negatives and Gousto's complete indifference to resolving issues properly has finally forced us to cancel. - Some of the meat is absolutely awful quality. Particularly the chicken breast/thighs and beef strips. Clearly come from cheapest-of-the-cheap supplier. Recently, more often than not, the meat is scraggy offcuts and falling apart. Can look more like some leftovers from a petfood factory. Also had issues with unsealed packets, gone off meat, poor taste etc. - Questionable "sustainability". Excessive use of plastic sachets and overpackaging. - Very variable veg quality, from mouldy peppers to tasteless tomatoes and soft carrots. Potatoes and onions are often ridiculously small (onions more like shallots and potatoes the size of a plum). - Pretty much every box will have some damaged ingredients. And for stupid reasons, such as spring onions and herbs being chucked in underneath a load of potatoes and tins. - For beginners the recipes are a minefield and most have some sort of issue. Expecting raw potatoes to oven bake in 20 minutes, cooking components in strange orders, omitting key ingredients (but then adding unnecessary accoutrements). - The photos used for promos and the recipe cards are misleading. They clearly do not use the ingredients straight out of a box. For example the beef strips look like nicely trimmed steak when in reality you get something more like dog food. Herbs are always leafy and recipes suggest chopping the whole pack - in reality you get 30% woody stalk. - The final nail in their coffin is the complete and utter indifference when you complain. All you get is an automated part-credit (only a couple of quid), or a customer service agent who does the same and promises "to investigate". Then the same issue continues to happen week after week. I genuinely believe I never had to pay for a full price box due to the volume of issues / credits applied.

The food is fine, i like the recipes and the variety. However, i don't like the fact i keep getting ingredients missing and they don't advertise well enough on the app when certain recipes need special equipment e.g. a food processor. Sounds silly I know but there was one meal I simply couldn't make because of it and was really disappointed. Opened the box today to see there was a missing recipe, yes it's not a massive deal cause you can just use the recipe on the app but just getting fed up that I'm paying £38 a week with a box that isn't fully complete. Take better care when packing the gousto boxes gousto or you'll lose custom very fast. Also, I have to prioritise what I eat each day based on the use by dates. Usually the meat is fine but I would prefer to actually be able to choose by preference rather than worrying what day the meat will go off.

gusto before covid was a favorite.. i was shocked and a bit bummed they dropped the mushrooms from the menu; they were of signature taste and flavor.

The menus, ingredients, and instructions are excellent, but in these times a principal reason for using Gousto is that it avoids the risks associated with shopping, particularly if one is sheltering. If the main ingredient, such as the meat, is missing and one has to go out and buy it, which has happened twice in a few weeks, the point of Gousto is largely lost. The compensation of £1.60 is totally beside the point.

Food is decent but the price fluctuates too much, needs to stay at the lower price or it becomes expensive for what you get.

Great idea, tasty and healthy meals. I’ve eaten a lot more veg than I normally would and the recipes are so easy to follow. Lots of people say the ingredients is poor quality but I disagree. The only thing I will say is the size of the meals are tiny! Not enough for myself and partner, and I’m only small but left hungry after eating. For £25 (offer price) I didn’t mind as I could add my own pasta/rice/chicken etc. to make meals a bit bigger but I won’t be paying £35 from now on solely due to the small portions which is a shame!

We had Mediterranean fish Stew with Aioli. We liked it except the Basa fish would have been more appropriate with Tilapia or haddock /cod rather than Vietnamese river fish. Another ingredient that surprised us is a clove of garlic given was not bigger than the size of a pine nut which I think is the most essential flavour for this dish. Would like to sent you the photo of the garlic but unable to do it on my mobile.

Excellent idea, Terrible service. Gusto is perfect for those full time workers who struggle to get to the shop or are sick and tired of eating the same stuff day in day out. Me and my partner have basic cooking skills so it’s actually quiet rewarding when you make something that’s so tasty... HOWEVER, a massive let down on gustos behalf, that could result in us cancelling our subscription is over the past 4months (16 meals, 4 meals a week) a large majority of Ingredients has been missing. Nothing major but this means driving to the shop to buy it. Defeats the object, If I’m driving to the shop I may aswel buy all the ingredients from the shop. This is extremely frustrating and gusto seem to give you pennies back for there mistake. My brother has been using gusto for a long time and the other week he found a hole in the raw chicken breast bag just before cooking for his family. Not so bad finding this issue when unpacking when you first receive the delivery but to find this just before you start cooking tea, after a hard days work is just a let down. On this occasion gusto refunded him £6. Not a lot considering the outcome could of been food poisoning. We all make mistakes but it is a recurring issue with gusto. The meals are not massive (like a Granmar’s portion), we find our selfs hungry a couple of hours later and just for the record I’m 5ft 9 and 12.8 stone. The meals are definitely healthier and would be great to loose a few extra pounds and there is lots of veg amongst other ingredients that we would not normally add to our diet. The delivery is spot on, every Sunday they deliver your food and they give you a 2 hour slot. The boxing is all recyclable material and has I’ve packs inside to keep your produce fresh. We will see what the up coming months bring. There are lots of similar food company’s out there. If this issue keep happening then I’m afraid we will be jumping ship.

The food is great, they offer a wide variety of dishes to choose from. However, the ingredients a lot of the time are not fresh and are unusable. Also, even if you do not order a box that week, they will send you one anyway, charge you the full amount and refuse to give you a full refund for the box even when you do not want it. I cancelled my subscription with them because of this predatory behaviour.

love the concept of Gousto but sadly given it many tries but sadly the shelf life of produce is very poor! Delivery of 4 menus for 4 people this time had to be used within 2 days! I have used others but had hoped they would at least get that right but its ridiculous really!! Sorry to say that with other options I cant see the point now! My delivery arrived Sunday all to be used by Tuesday- in the past there have been dramas which they have refunded but I can honestly say I think hello fresh trump it as they not only package up each menu the dates are far more realistic! Shame as I had hoped they would change but no

We’ve been getting Gousto boxes for a couple of years. In the beginning it was brilliant, good discounts and the 5th box free. Some of the recipes have been amazing and we have made them over and over again. The boxes we have had recently have not been so good, the discounts they have offered have not worked and the portion sizes seem to have decreased quite dramatically. Still lovely recipes just not enough to feed two adults.
