“I am very disappointed with my experience.
I wore both the nova women shoes and the Sienna boots only once, on a rainy day, and found the soles to be extremely slippery to the point of being unsafe. I even sent a video clearly demonstrating the issue and requested a refund for both items.
However, the response I received was that they do not advertise their shoes as non-slip, and therefore they would not issue a refund due to the slipping problem. To make matters worse, they did not even reply in English, but in German, which made communication even more difficult.
Overall, I feel this shows a lack of responsibility for product safety and poor customer service. I would not recommend.”
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
We’re sorry to hear that both pairs didn’t meet your expectations, especially in terms of grip on a rainy day. We understand how important safe footing is, and it’s disappointing to read that you didn’t feel confident wearing them.
Regarding your request, we did review your case and explained that these models are not designed or advertised as non-slip footwear, particularly on very wet or smooth surfaces. That said, we understand that this may still feel unsatisfactory from your perspective.
We’re also sorry that the language of our response made communication more difficult. That’s not the experience we want to create, and we’ll take this into account going forward.
Your feedback has been shared with our team as part of our ongoing product and service review process.

“Very narrow insole. Almost like a normal not barefoot shoe. I dont know if you narrowed it more, but the last model I had in 2021 felt much wider and more flexibl. I had that model it till I made a hole in my sole. These I dont even wear because they squish my feet from all sides and the sole is so not flexible. Not ordering Groundies again.”
Thanks for taking the time to share this detailed feedback.
It’s frustrating when a model you used to enjoy feels so different. Even if the last shape hasn’t changed, the overall feel of a shoe can vary depending on materials and construction. Lined styles, for example, can feel more structured and a bit less flexible compared to lighter or unlined versions.
We understand that this can affect both the perceived width and comfort, especially if you were used to a softer, more flexible model before. In some cases, going up a size can help balance that, but we see that this pair didn’t work for you as it is.
We’re sorry to hear that you’ve decided not to order from us again. Your feedback is valuable and has been shared with our product team as we continue to refine fit and materials across different models.

Thanks for sharing your perspective.
We understand what you mean – in more traditional business settings, certain expectations around footwear still exist, and not every barefoot style fits easily into that.
At the same time, it’s great to hear that you like the shoes themselves. We’re continuing to work on designs that can bridge that gap a bit more, while staying true to the barefoot feel.
We appreciate your honest feedback.

“Here’s a polished review based on what you told me:
Groundies Barefoot Shoes – Honest Review After 3 Pairs
⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
Let me start with the good: these are genuinely the most comfortable barefoot shoes I have ever worn. I’ve tried a lot of brands over the years, and Groundies stands out in terms of fit, feel, and how natural the movement is. That comfort is real and worth acknowledging.
But comfort alone doesn’t justify the price — and that’s where it falls apart.
Across three pairs, I ran into the same problems every time. The soles wore through surprisingly fast, developing holes well within what I’d consider acceptable for shoes in this price range. One outdoor pair had a glued seam come apart after no more than 10 to 12 wears. Because I bought them in autumn and wore them first after winter, the warranty window had passed by the time the defect showed up — even though the shoes had barely been used. Customer support declined to help, citing the expired support period.
For shoes that cost over €100, I expect both durability and a customer service approach that reflects that price point. Neither delivered.
I’d still recommend Groundies for comfort. But if you’re on a budget and can’t replace shoes every three to six months, be aware of what you might be getting into.”
“The shoes arrived with a hole in the leather. The style and color were out of stock so no exchange. I was told I could take to a cobbler and be reimbursed for repair + 10% off another shoe. Disappointing quality and mediocre service.”
“Communications for folks in the US was pretty poor. It took forever for the item to ship. I attempted to reach out to the email listed in my order confirmation and it turns out they’d misspelled the support email in the confirmation so my emails to them bounced. I eventually found their US support email online. I got bounce notifications for those emails too, saying the inbox was full. The emails did seem to go through tho, bc someone eventually emailed me back and said they’d be shipped soon. The shoes just showed up one day without ever having flagged as shipped or on their way.”
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
We’re sorry to hear that the communication around your order wasn’t as smooth as it should have been. In the meantime, we’ve identified and corrected the issue that caused the contact problems you described.
We also regret that the shipping updates were unclear and that your order seemed to arrive without proper notification. This is not the experience we want for our customers, and we’re continuing to improve our processes so communication is more reliable going forward.
Thank you again for your honest feedback – it helps us improve.

“My first pair of groundies (purchased months ago) fit perfectly and I love them even though I had to buy better insoles. The groundies boots that I last purchased are way too narrow in the front half of the boots and actually caused great pain in my feet which took several weeks to settle down.”
We’re very sorry to hear about this experience and the pain you’ve described – that’s certainly not what we want anyone to associate with our shoes.
From a distance, it’s difficult to assess the exact cause. In general, a shoe should never feel too tight, especially in the forefoot. If a model feels clearly narrow or constricting when trying it on, we always recommend returning it rather than continuing to wear it.
That said, when switching between different models, footbeds, or insoles, it can also happen that new areas of the foot are activated and stressed, which may lead to discomfort or soreness – especially if the change is sudden. In such cases, easing into wear and taking breaks is important.
Your feedback is very valuable to us, and we’ll share it with our product team. We’re sorry that this pair didn’t work for you and that it caused discomfort, and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know.
