“Bought a compression testing kit. When using only read 30 lbs on boat cylinders. Knew that could not be right so borrowed father in laws penske compression tester and read 115 lbs. i took this back and wanted to charge a 9 dollar restocking fee . The item does not work and not going to buy another and drive 30 minutes to take back again. The item was defective how the hell you gonna charge a restocking fee. This place sucks and poor customer service.”
“Item purchased on 10/3/2025 and not used or opened.
Took to the store (#13 Las Vegas) few days later with receipt, driver's licence and card used for purchase.
When atempted to return cashier, manager and store manager ALL demanded a phone number.
I refused and called HF customer service.
Spoke to someone named Iein (he refused to provide any other ID information) and Meagan.
Both claimed that phone number is required for return AND store can refuse return for ANY REASON whatsoever.”
“Brought the predator 2500. Never offered a warranty, but she reminded me plenty of times that there is a 20% restocking fee…
It’s constantly shutting off. Even though I was told it would be strong enough for a pancake compressor..
First and last time shopping there.”
“I have an issue with a defective product and the return policy. I initially communicated with the local store where the item was purchased. A woman named Holly, identifying herself as a manager, hung up on my while I persisted for information regarding an exchange. A response I received from corporate stated "and exceptions outside of that timeframe are at the discretion of the store manager. While we cannot override those decisions at the corporate level...".
While I was satisfied with the quality of the product I purchased, despite the defect, I will no longer reward Harbor Freight with my dollars, as a result on the non-existent customer service.”
“Harbor freight backpack sprayer. A nozzle of the spray nozzle leak so bad I had to rebuild it with parts I had from another sprayer. Then when I filled it on a level surface, it tipped over and spelled out 4 gallons of expensive weed spray. Every other sprayer I had Between the base and the pump handle would hold the sprayer level on a surface until U could fill it. Not this one. And you do have to use that little cross strap to tie the two shoulder straps together. The sprayer is so wide that if you don’t use it one of your shoulder straps keep flopping loose and falling off your shoulder.A whole lot of trouble for $49 sprayer never pays to go cheap.”
“NOT SUCH A GOID DEAL AFTER ALL. I think it's useless to purchase a battery powered tool from Harbour freight then the battery and charger are sold separately”
“I purchased a badland 12000 pound winch in 24 I have only used it maybe 5 times in total I installed on my car trailer I did not purchase a extended warranty because it was not going to be used very often I tried using it recently and motor would not turn over harbor freight will do nothing with it poor customer service even tough I did not take warranty the said they are the supplier of these winches but the make NO REPLACEMENT PARTS ON THIS MODEL the only way to do anything is buy another winch from here (OR SOME PLACE ELSE) I would tell future customers (to look for another winch This is totally wrong they sell a product with no repair parts (shop somewhere else when considering a winch people save yourself the aggrivation) this is my warning to you ( VERY BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE)”

“I wanted to buy an automotive scanning tool. I found what I wanted at my nearest store….one hour away. I drove there and was told it’s not in stock, in spite of the website stating that it was in stock. I pressed the issue after being told casually “just come back tomorrow”.
I restated the the website shows that it’s available. The cashier told me that it only arrived that day. I explained that I drove an hour to get there and I wanted someone to find it and sell it to me.
Another guy showed up and said I’d have to come back tomorrow to get it.
I will not go back to that store.
I am considering canceling my “membership”.
The handling of this matter by the staff there is completely unacceptable.”
“Bought one of the Preditor 3500 generator inverter and it has been in the camper and the spark arrester came loose and fell off. I had an extended warrantee on it but it expired last year. I didn't realize they have no parts for these generators. You buy the then throw away. They will not stand behind them or replace, no matter what. I am going to have to throw it away because its a fire hazard with spark arrester missing. I will not recommend them for anything nor go into their store again. They stand behind nothing.”
“Should of read all of these reviews.
Bought transfer pump and it was not what my husband wanted so email them to take this pump back and they said No Returns on pumps. Put a sign up over the pumps to let them know.
You lost me as a customer.”
“I bought a Predator 4550 Inverter Generator. I read the whole manual. I set it up exactly as required. I followed the directions to start it. The pull cord won't come out. I called the store, and they said I can return it. It's going to be over 90 degrees, and I live in a camper with no electricity and pets. I now have to try to lift the generator, drive 1/2 hour away, pay money for them to take the gas out, get another generator, buy more oil, return home and try again. I will never buy from them again. All they did was cost me more money and time.”
“I think it is criminal to charge a 20% $42 in my case, restocking fee on an electronic device that is 1 day old and never used. I won't say never but probably won't shop there again.”
“Beware of bad customer service. I called them a couple of times and waited on hold forever, so I chose the call me when it's my turn option. They never call back. I tried it a couple of times, but the same thing.”
“Bought one of your electric pressure washers, $200 used it twice. The housing where you connect The water hose broke very easily, f*** tried several ways to fix it can't be fixed.”
“Purchased a rotary hammer chipping tool and was told there is a restocking fee, however the cashier never stated it is 20%. The tool I purchased was $229.00 and the fee was $46.00 for an hour of use. Their hammer products do not compare to Bosch or Milwaukee products. I called to dispute the excessive charge, however it is in the very, very fine print on the reverse side of the receipt. BEWARE! The old adage applies, you get what you pay for! An expensive lesson not to take a chance on a cheap tool!”
“No flexibility on return policy. Purchased most expensive Bauer electric power washer last summer and used once. Tried to use this year and quit after 5 minutes. Went through all trouble shooting. Spoke with local store manager who told me I had no recourse since I didn't purchase a warranty plan. She offered no further solutions. I will take my unit to a repair shop and will no longer purchase anything from Harbor Freight.”
“Ordered a replacement tent online for my barn. It wasn't the proper dimensions. So I took it to the Los Lunas location to return it. The box had not been opened I had the email receipt on my phone. The female manager told me she would not take my return because that particular store did not stock that item. She was unbearably rude. She refused to look up the item, view my receipt and treated me like I was a nuisance.
I was so appalled I took my Harbor Freight Credit Card out and asked for a pair of scissors. Suddenly another employee came over and inquired about the problem. I reiterated to her I wanted to return the tent. Her response was "no problem". She concluded the return and I left the store stunned by the whole experience. That very day I paid off my card balance and chopped my card into pieces.”
