“I bought some metal loading ramps at Harbor Freight. All of the edges on the ramps were razor sharp, probably because the ramps were stamped and no effort was made to dull the sharp edges. Not surprisingly, I cut my hands while attempting to use the ramps. So, I boxed them up and put them in my garage.
Because the ramps were defective (sharp edges) and unusable, I tried to return them to Harbor Freight. The manager told me that it had been more than 90 days since I bought them and Harbor Freight would not give me an exchange, refund or store credit.
Harbor Freight sells highly defective products. I will never buy anything from them again and encourage others to do the same.”
“Absolutely the worst check out employee ever encountered, she spent 15 minutes flirting with customer while other checker served 7 people, I put down my basket and left.”
“NEVER download the Harbor Freight App! If you do, you will be besieged in POPUPS and they cannot be stopped! Stupid, unprofessional and irritating! Ant company that designs an app that forces you to see popups without any way to stop them is inconsiderate of their customers!”
“Purchase a titanium plasma 45, Used it six or seven times itquit working They told me I did not buy an extended warranty. But yeah, I got an extended warranty on a mechanic, creeper and a hose wheel. Why would I not buy an Extended warranty on an $800 piece of equipment? Truth is, they just want to get out of exchanging the plasma cutter So now I am the proud owner of an $800 paper weight I will not be buying any more paper weight from Harbor freight, and I'm going to cancel my membership Do not need They're scamming practices anymore.”
“Beware. Went to buy a drywall cutting tool. The employee told me if I bought a battery starter kit I would get a tool for free that was on the piece of paper so I picked one out. Got home and looked at my receipt and the tool wasn’t free and they charged me for half of it. I contacted the customer service department and told me I was just out my money. This place is a scam and don’t waste your time going there.”
“I purchased a tiller from Harbor Freight brought it home. I purchased the wrong tiller took back to store. The tiller was untouched never removed from box. They charged me a $38 restocking fee. I said No one ever tolld me of a restocking fee they pointed to receipt and said there it is who reads their receipt. I was going to renew my membership but instead I will never return to Harbor Freight again. Unfair practices!!”
“BUYER BEWARE! Be careful buying tools from Harbor Freight. They have initiated a ridiculous return policy for defective tool. I bought a Pop Rivet Gun Air Model. It tells you to fill with Hydraulic Fluid. It took 2 people and a vise to open the casing and 30 minutes. Filled it up and closed it. After hooking up the air, it shot the fluid all over my shirt, pants, & part I was working on along with the floor. Not Good. Then I figured out they shorted me the smaller 1/8" tip. So when I went to return it, I was told I could only exchange it for another one. so to check it out, the 27 year old manager tried to open the lower filler cap and could not get the cap off another brand new one. I explained that I had been shorted the smaller 1/8" tip. We verified that. I asked what was he going to do about the spraying fluid since the gun was identical. I told him I would need to drive 20 minutes back and if it didn't work, then 20 minutes back again each way. By again, even the bottom could not be opened, especially for me at 65 years old. He just shrugged his shoulders. I said I just wanted my money back sine he couldn't supply me a working one. He told me there is now still a 20% restocking fee, even though it can't be restocked. That's $14 of my hard earned money. He would not overwrite that. So I spent over an hour calling corporate only to have them tell me they were going to continue this foolish practice of stealing my money. Then after refusing and asking for a full refund they said they could only give me a gift card for the 20% to go buy more garbage in the store and maybe have another restock fee. I told them if you go to Costco, Walmart, Amazon, etc, they have no questions asked returns, especially when the item is defective and have no alternative. What I want them to answer is "ARE THEY REALLY GOING TO RESTOCK THIS ITEM EVEN THOUGH IT DON'T WORK? And then sell more of them to some other sucker. I will be returning to the store 1 more time to cancel my membership and get a refund on that. And hopefully not have a 20% restock on that return? I've have been shopping there since they first opened their first stores in California many many years ago. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING THINGS FROM HARBOR FREIGHT UNTIL THEY CHANGE THEIR WAYS! I am going to do a charge back for the $14 they stole from me. I will not use that stupid $14 gift card. I'll let Citibank deal with that. Money is tight and I have to work many hours to get that money just for them to steal it. THEY DON'T DESERVE MY BUSINESS OR YOURS.
I have included the receipts for you to see.”
“Bought 2 support rollers which stated up 1000lbs
After 2 days they broke holding up 420lb floats.. went back to return them and they refused to replace... they looked up my # couldn't find it... and refused to credit.. or replace... even though the sticker price tag was still on the rollers... Manager played stupid... in the old days companies actually backed their products....Not Coeur d alene branch...
Their attitude needs adjustments
Beware of cheap merchandise and tools”
“HF customer service is by far the worst ever!
I ordered a replacement part for a table saw that they sell. I received a part that was similar in design but not a replacement for the broken part.
I have been trying to resolve the problem with them for about 30 days. It’s as though mental patients from Bellevue have been hired to field calls and emails from customers in need of assistance. Even sending them pictures of what is needed and what was sent are useless.
It looks like I’ll probably be in deep do-do when I ask for a refund on the useless part that they sent me.
I will never purchase any equipment from HF again. Companies that treat their customers like this don’t deserve to be in business.
I’ve also read several dozen horror reviews from customers with similar experiences. I wish I was aware of those experiences and reviews before ever walking into their store in Austintown, Ohio.”
“I bought a sheetrock drill that would not power on. Considering I needed it for this one huge job only I was not worried about longevity or a $10 restocking fee. It never powered on. I live 40 minutes from Harbor Freight. 3 hours of my time, $25 in gas and a $10 restocking fee for a broken item that can not be restocked! Bye Harbor Freight. What a rip off!”
“Employee exceptionally rude. Got irritated when I asked for an explanation if something she had said. I just went through a major hurricane, looking for a few supplies. I found what I needed. She says it was for show only I explained I was in an emergency situation her response was so...
Why have items in perfect condition and just sit there collecting dust especially during times of emergencies.
She told me she really didn't care. I walked out. Called corporate same thing. They DO NOT CARE IF A PRODUCT THAT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE IS SOLD OR NOT
I WOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING HERE”
“I placed an order in July, for a 6 color airbrush kit. I received an email it was on indefinite back order. I needed the kit by the end of August and found the kit at one of their local stores. I called and cancelled the order, which took a bit of work and was assured it was cancelled. I received an email today, October 8, that it will be delivered today. 😡 Now I have to deal with shipping it back and getting a credit on my account.”
“Hurricane Milton approaching. Went to purchase a generator. I was told they sold out of generators and that Corporate has told them that the 15-20 floor generators are not for sale. They have about 79 stores in Florida. That means they refuse to help over 1,000 customers in need. What a terrible company with horrible Corporate decisions for people in need. Stay away from this company, they are heartless!!!”
“No satisfaction on customer service. requested a call back instead of holding on line and three days later i have yet to receive a call
Phone tag on speaking to a human being
No one knows nothing
I was told we don’t have any replacements parts once i did get thru . They will not stand behind their products sold at retail. After the sale they don’t know you. So i have equipment that does not work and they have no replacement part and no repair shop in the area
Quality of product is not very good. As
they say , you get what you pay for.
What a joke. I renewed warranty and still no good
I will not be going back. I will cancel my credit card account with them.
Poor customer service and poor cheap tools that don’t hold up for a day”
