“I ordered a copy of the Times and a gift box, they fold the paper as the box is just a bit too small to fit the paper, I did contact customer service the response I got didn’t help at all! This newspaper is a standard size, so what's the point of a box that's just a bit too small. This paper is from May this year!!”

“Well bound lovely leather album My mum was eighty so from her birthday up on that day aren the headlines of the day Variety from fashions to war news to elvis Was very big so we have been easier to have smaller version Mum bit a lot of joy out of it but heavy so we vit the papers out . Came very quickly and prompt service though emails don’t really inform you of real life tracing and thought had till to be delivered when had been already . Great idea when looking for something special for such an anniversary”

“Very good overall but several pages are faded and of very weak print, there is little consistency in print throughout the book, ranging from faded and weak to almost over-inked. I found this rather disappointing and could let you know the dates in question. Poor quality control I fear. Can this be bettered nor least that it is the 80th Birthday present for my Brother.”

“Good end product and not over priced however I ordered an evening standard for a particular date and being a Saturday, the paper was incredibly thin, not very interesting. if I’d known that at the point of purchase I would have picked a different paper.”

“My product arrived 10 days after the delivery date I was told it would be. I know they are busy but the box was damaged and damp too so the product itself was also slightly damaged. Your customer services team was extremely helpful and quick to reply so thank to to them. I think you should include extra protection in the wrapping for such an expensive item. I like the product itself but it is disappointing overall, even allowing for the business of the season, as it is a Christmas present for someone special.”

“Quite dissapointed with item. Thank goodness i payed extra for a box for newspaper to be put in. Dont know what it would of been in other wise. Took longer than it said, know the postal service are working hard, glad i ordered it weeks before my sons birthday. Really not worth the money i paid.”

“I purchased a bottle of 12 year old Knockando Whiskey and The Scotman newpaper for my sons 40th birthday,it arrived on time but when I opend the box it was not what I ordered,I was so disappointed that there was a bottle of 12 year old Glenfiddich (which is a good whiskey ) but not what I ordered.If you had got in touch with me to let me know you didn't have Knockando I would have upgraded or I would have cancelled the order, I could have purchsse a bottle of 12 years old Glenfiddich in the supermarket and it would not have cost me £94 The concept of the newspaper and a special bottle of whiskey and packaging is good but no corespondence to say you couldn't deliver what I order was so disappointing.”

“I have used Historic Newspapers for gifts for a number of years. On this occasion I was somewhat disappointed as this time I purchased a newspaper that was mounted in a frame and asked On the phone about the ability to remove the paper in order to read it and then return it again. This can be done but I was expecting a little better quality frame and a more elaborate frame and a better clip system in order to remove the paper”

“I was advised by the email that my package had been dispatched and should arrive two to three days later. It arrived 5 days later which meant it missed my son’s 21st birthday and he has now gone back to uni. Other than that it looks nice but he won’t have it until May now unless I pay to send it to him there. Please be aware the timings they give you are not accurate ?”

“After looking up the cost of the supplied whiskey that was part of the package I feel I received poor value. Based on the cost of the whiskey from local supermarket I’ve been stung for £60 JUST for an old newspaper! Should have just bought my friend two bottles of the same whiskey and it would have been £20 cheaper! The “presentation” box is very poor cheap quality too, something you could pickup from the card factory for £4. UPDATE As noted by the company they did indeed refund me the shipping cost which is a nice gesture so it's only fair i increase the amount of stars on this review but i would still encourage others to shop around for gifts such as this and remember to always ask for a discount code.”

“A nice idea but you really shouldn't have to pay extra for a box and a bit of gold on the cover. Of course it's optional but I bought it for my Liverpool fan 10 year old son who'd just lost his mother to cancer and Iwanted it to look better. The personalised dedicationis good though.”

“The company themselves provided an excellent service and the year book was good and much appreciated by the recipient on his 80th birthday. Unfortunately the parcel company they used let them down. Despite paying for priority delivery as it was a bit of a last minute idea, it actually took 3 days and 4 phone calls to get it the few miles down the road from their depot to our address. Historic newspapers have though promised a refund of this extra cost which is good and they did respond very quickly.”

“Gift was delivered ahead of time which was good. Gift itself was as I ordered but in all correspondence they referred to me by the recipients name rather than my own and there was no greeting message with the gift so it all fell a bit flat.”

“I am a little disappointed with the quality of the print on the newspapers. As the book was a gift for my husband’s 90th birthday I wonder if the quality of the print is poor because there are so many pages. I have bought the book before for 50th birthdays and don’t remember the print then. I will see one of the recipients at Christmas and will check their book. (I have now had a response from Historic Newspapers explaining about the printing of the newspapers in the book. I appreciate them contacting me. I didn’t mention in my review how easy the book was to order, how nice the cover is, and how promptly it was delivered).”

“Nice gift, nicely presented and am sure recipient will love it, however, disappointed there are so many blank pages. Even though it states you can put your own messages, the whole book has blank pages. Surely, as a company, you could print something on at least every other blank page?”

“Product was good, although the front page of the paper was not the same as the image on the website - but perhaps I didn’t read the small print. Delivery was difficult. The courier service was very hard to deal with and virtually impossible to co tact when I had problems. In the end I had to collect the parcel from a shop as the courier delivery failed twice.”

“Easy to order and personalise, but there was no confirmation email sent which made me doubt whether order had been recived. Fortunately, I had used Paypal so the transaction was recorded. Equally, there was no communication to advise of delivery time/date so I had no idea when my item would arrive. The product itself is just what I wanted, and worth the price (I took advantage of 25% off) for an alternative birthday gift.”
