Booked for 2 nights ,brilliant location. Found it difficult to book in etc on host and stay website.Arrived at property ,not clear how to get in tried several of the key safes .Had to ring only to find code was wrong . Thought it was not made clear on booking sbout about hidden cost of insurance . Apartment lovely and comfy ,unfortunately we were cold . Thought that little personal touch was missing ,bottle milk (not sachets ),no shampoo shower gel etc . Wouldn’t use host and stay again

I am writing today to complain about our stay at Staffordhsire Getaway. Firstly, when we arrived inside the property we noticed the level of cleanliness was very poor. There was dog hairs on the sofa/floor, food left in the sink, stains on cushions, fingerprints on cupboards and you could see the floor hadn't been mopped. Also, on the website it claims they have added a 'luxury coffee machine so you can enjoy a delicious coffee each morning' well there were no coffee pods to be found so felt disappointed that these were not replaced. The website also claims 'you'll find a luxury space in the bedroom, you'll enjoy your nights sleep, king size bed boasts premium bedding'. There is nothing premium about two single beds pushed together with the most uncomfortable spring mattress'. The fact we had to pay a security deposit to be able to stay in this place is absurd as the standards were so LOW. Secondly, we didn't actually manage to stay the night, we had to sleep in the car with our dog, due the flat above. The walls are not very sound proof, we could hear a bunch of men stumble upstairs in the early hours of the morning, and continued to shout, move furniture until 3am, which we then felt forced to sleep in the car. Due to the noise they made, it made our dog very anxious and on edge, and he would bark at them making noises, so then the people above would give us verbal abuse, swearing, calling us names, making us feel extremely unsafe and vulnerable. We know this is not directly the hosts fault, but online this is labelled as a 'relaxing stay' and it was instead, quite traumatising. We would like a full refund for our stay as we did not actually 'stay' here, we had to leave in the early hours to our car on the road which felt safer than the flat as we felt so scared. We then had a sour taste in our mouth and wanted to go home as soon as we woke up, so we stayed in Whitby for under 24 hours, when we live over 3 hours away. I strongly believe that the provider, whether that's the host, booking.com, or host and stay can enable us a refund due to the factors above, which has made this the worst place we have ever stayed. I hope that this complaint can serve as a huge opportunity for improvement. I kindly request that you investigate this matter and take the appropriate matters to rectify the issue, and provide us with a sutible resolution. I expect to receive a response within a reasonable timeframe addressing the concerns above. Thank you for your prompt action and cooperation. I look forward to a timely resolution and a renewed positive experience.

Accommodation was clean and modern, very quiet, bed was comfortable. Had to pay a £250 deposit which was taken from my account and will not be refunded until a week after my return. This needs to be highlighted more and would put me off booking again.

We had a lovely weekend staying in Flora, a Host & Stay apartment in Whitby. We booked through a 3rd party, and once paid Host & Stay made contact making sure I had all the details I needed before my stay. The apartment itself was absolutely gorgeous (so nice I’ve taken some inspiration for me redecorating), and it was in a great location for us to have a super weekend. We’ve already recommended it to others as I think they’d love it too. My only downside and it is potentially the third party rather than Host & Stay, but when we booked it mentioned a damage deposit but no further admin fee. Only a small fee but I argued my case on the unexpected charge and neither company would take accountability or properly discussed. It left me in the position of pay the fee or not be able to stay at a non refundable property. So tidy up in clarity of advertising and it was nothing but a great stay

Stayed in an AirBNB for 3 nights. Unfortunately this would have been 5 stars but over all stay it was down to 4 stars. Although, I would give 5 stars to the team as they were very quick at responding to any queries we had. A Special shout out to Charlie who made sure we had anything we needed and made sure all out queries were answered in a timely manner. My only negative comment is when calling due to some issues we had, we spoke with a receptionist who stated they were there to help but then directed us to the direct messages on AirBNB and said no one was available to take my call and said someone would get back via message. I waited an hour or so then messages myself to which Charlie responded straight away. This is a personal negative of mines as I do sometimes like to talk with a person over the phone about a problem rather than wait for a text but again this is a personal negative of mine. In terms of the Airbnb firstly, we ended up im a completely different aparment due to our original apartment having a leak. The team were quick to get us another apartment due to a cancellation. The only downfall is we were only informed of this an hour before arrival as we were travelling 4 hours and if they did not have a cancellation we may have been left with no accommodation. So this was lucky for us but I would of expected this issue to be addressed earlier if the cleaners have been in early to get the apartment ready. Again, we cant thank the team enough for sourcing us another apartment and having it ready for our arrival. Apartment was clean and tidy. Only a few marks on the walls but everything else was great. We did however have parking for our original apartment but the team were able to reimburse us for our parking we had to pay ourselves due to the new apartment not having any parking on site. I would like to thank the team for their great efforts to helping us with any issues we had over our stay and would recommend them to family and friends.

I did give Host and Stay the chance to reply to me before doing this review but they chose not to. I informed them of the lack of wired in smoke alarms in the property and the fact the battery ones did not work. I have also reported this to the council because after being in a fire myself and knowing the importance of smoke alarms I wouldn't forgive myself if I hadn't and something had happened. This was my major concern although there were other little niggles but obviously my big thing is the smoke alarms and the lack of response from the company. They just want the commission and the glory but don't want to deal with the problems! I'm afraid I won't be voting for you in the award category you requested via email either. Thanks

Rental was very nice and the guys were happy staying here. This was a last minute booking but getting in touch with someone proved extremely difficult.

Montrose View, 33 Upleatham Street. We (4 adults, 1 dog and a baby) stayed at the property for four days. Cleanliness 4/5 stars. There were some dog hairs upstairs from previous rentals and the bathroom wasn't the cleanest but nothing major. Location 5/5 stars. Great for what we needed. Lovely and close to the seaside and we really enjoyed Staithes and Robin Hood Bay which was a short drive away. Amenities 2/5 stars. For four days we were provided with: - A variety of hair and body products in the bathroom - 4 sachets of coffee (for four adults) - 2 dishwasher tablets and we couldn't get anymore as they only provided a 'starter pack'. Bearing in mind we cooked every night and there were four adults and a baby staying. - 1 bin bag (which wasn't put in the actual bin, we had to do it ourselves). There was no seperate bins for food waste or recycling Environment 2/5 stars. - The living room ceiling light was not working. However, Host & Stay were prompt at replying and offered to send out a maintenence team the next day, which we declined as we had already settled into the property. - No blackout blinds in any of the rooms. As seen from previous reviews for this property the street light is really bright. The wooden blinds are not sufficient and really affected mine and my baby's sleep. - The spring in one of the sofas were broken, there were 4 adults and not enough comfortable seating for us. - The kitchen cupboards were unorganised, pans and mixing bowls just thrown into the cupboard. - There was around 4 hangers per room. No hooks on the back of doors to hang coats or clothes on in a cosy property. Overall, we were disappointed with the basic amenities, particularly for a property that is described as 'Lux'. In my opinion, I would rather have had more coffee, milk and or tea than the beauty products. The property lacked attention to detail and should not be classed as a 'lux' stay. This was our first time with Host & Stay, we had high hopes but this may be our last stay too.

We stayed at 1 The Mount in Whitby which is in a great location for walking into the town. The property was exactly as the website described and was spotless and all of the rooms were extremely spacious and comfortable. The booking system was easy and the regular email communication including the handbook were really useful. The only issue we had was with the directions as the property is on a one-way system and if you miss the parking space you have to go round again via narrow streets. It would be useful to say that when you go up Khyber Pass the parking space is just after the zebra crossing and directly after the side street.

A great few days at this stunning home. It looked good on the pictures and equally as good in person too! There was a real feel of quality in every room and we lacked for nothing in there with lots of useful touches in the kitchen. The log burner was a real bonus too. All rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable. To top it all off the pub next door was great as well!

We stayed in a comfortable, well equipped and fairly spacious property within walking distance of Durham town centre. The property has lovely views and can sleep up to 6 people comfortably. The property is clean and well presented, and the owner has made the property a lovely place to stay with books and other pamphlets that are useful to explore the area. The only areas for improvement is that some of the doors needed some oil to stop the squeaking, and more mirrors are needed in the bathrooms. Otherwise we would happily stay at the property again, and would recommend it without hesitation.

20 Hall Garth is a charming well-appointed house that suited my family of four. It is on a quite street close to the centre of Pickering and few minutes walk from Pickering castle and Pickering train station. Parking was readily availale near the house in October when we travelled.

We stayed at the courtyard retreat in Whitby. Superb experience from start to finish. Quick and easy booking, very helpful pre-information and great communication before, during and after stay. Staff have always been very helpful via e mail and on the phone. Property was fantastic.

Charge £95 for cleaning. Previous guests dirty towels hanging behind doors. Supposedly clean towel badly stained. Disgusting stain on mattress protector. Dog friendly policy not made clear until after booking and too late to cancel without loss of payment! Charge a £250 damage deposit and retain £10 admin fee - again not clear at time of booking. Downstairs toilet not flushing correctly (reported by a previous guest months earlier) Router and connections on floor in a tangle of cables - neither child nor dog safe No working exterior lighting No complaints entertained unless you make them whilst still at the property.
