Not impressed with 2 cherry trees I got delivered out of the 5 trees these were by far the worst. 20% of the leaves had holes in them that look like shot gun holes. And other leaves have rust on them. For a garden centre of this standard I would have expected alot more especially with the after care service i received.

There is no disease on your trees, it is just part of autumn coming in where the leaves start to break down and get ready to fall off for winter. In a few more weeks the leaves will all be gone . These trees are grown for us by the premier tree grower in Ireland and are perfectly healthy. What you are seeing is perfectly normal at this time of year.

i bought a prunus serrula tree online and when it arrived it was very light in girth, but worst of all it was pruned level across the top which meant it had no main leader , side branches were also pruned hard , phoned to tell them this i was told 'it will grow back eventually] why a garden centre would send out a tree pruned this way and not see a problem with it ? cut everything but the price

Hi Declan, This tree is grown for its decorative mahogany peeling bark which feels silky smooth. They are always pruned like this to encourage more branching, so you get more of the attractive bark rather than a long single stemmed spindly tree. The more bark and stems, lower down the better, the more colourful and tactile it is !

Value not great would expect more for the price.

HI Josephine, I am not sure what you were expecting for €4 but these plants will live in your garden , thriving for the next 20 years at least - not bad for €4!

Purchased a Damson tree from you in Feb, 2017 The tree came into a little leaf in April and it seems to be dying I have tried sending a photo of it to reviews.co.uk but email is returned I paid €50 plus delivery for this and there is something seriously wrong with it Mary Lynch

Hi Mary, This spring has been quite harsh on newly planted trees with really dry weather for the last 6 weeks and very cold nights with a lot of burning night frosts. The recent change with rain should help the growth a lot. Can you water it very well for a while – don’t rely on the rain as it will not go very deep in the soil. A heavy watering of 2 gallons of water (8 litres) every 5-7 days should be about right. It is already 3 years old so should make a good recovery. See how it develops over the summer. There are no damson trees available now until September next at the earliest. If it does not survive, of course we will replace it at that time for you

Plant dispatched Monday, I received delivery in Cork on Friday. Pot was broken, plant was battered.

Three and a half weeks for delivery is far too long. When finally the parcel arrives I find my urgently needed propagator is not included. Marked discontinued!! Why could I not have been advised of this three weeks ago? Then I could have ordered an alternative else where in order to get on with spring seeds.

We were doing our best to source it from many suppliers and the results all came back the same. We did our best

The plants you chose do not flower until autumn and will look like the photo at that tome of the year.

I bought a grafted tree that had a graft missing, tape still on grafts that had only been very recently done therefore there was every chance at they would not take. Had to drive all the way back there to return it.

Firstly I had to wait 16days for my order to be delivered I've ordered things from abroad and got them quicker secondly the plants were not in good condition the website was also unclear in its description of the plants so the plants were not what I needed I phoned and Darren was as helpful as he could be but I ended up settling for something I didn't want wont be ordering again Colette

Hi Colette, sorry to hear about your experience. We try our best to get orders out as quickly and efficiently as possible but sometimes delays cannot be avoided. We hope that you will consider ordering from us again in future so you can have a better experience.

It took so long to get it over 14 days so very disappointing - employ more staff if you can't cope with taking orders online

Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately as it is the busiest gardening season delays are unavoidable and we try our best to get orders out as quickly as we can. Unfortunately hiring more staff would not be the solution as we need to take into account the speed at which stock is selling in store as well as online, the space in the courier vans each evening when the orders leave here, and the suitability and availability of our suppliers stock that comes in each week. We try our best to send the freshest, high quality stock as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and your comments.

I was sent the wrong type of Holly tree. Order Number: JGC38550. I ordered 2 ilex alaska and got 2 common holly trees. Can I have a refund or the correct order please Gerard Gabriel 087204822

HI Gerard, You received 2 Alaska Hollies as per the labels on the plant pots. Regretably the grower used also a generic common holly picture label on the plant as well as the pot label. The Pot label is the correct one though. The leaves on Alaska Hollies are smaller than common Holly.

I have only yet received part of it and I dread to think what state the rest of it will be in when the courier informs you where he delivered it on 10/1!!

Hi Mary, thank you for your positive comments. Could you reconsider your star rating? 2 stars is very low and affects our overall quality rating. Best regards, Katie

I ordered a plant online to be delivered and it wasn't delivered over 10 days after I placed the order. I had to ring from England to speak to someone who told me they were out of stock. I accept this happens but an email after 24 hours alerting me should really happen so I don't have to follow up a late delivery. It was delivered eventually when the stock came in but it was for my Aunts birthday so I was too late.

Initially the website was excellent. Buying the plant was easy. Unfortunately there was a mix-up with delivery and the wrong item was delivered. However the follow up was brilliant and the correct plant was delivered very speedily.I would definitely recommend them.

I ordered (first time) live plants and trees, and was very surprised that they arrived in a box, also some branches where broken. I usually order plants from nurseries and they always arrive standing up, exposed to sunlight, not squished in a box without a light.

Hi Maja, thank you for your comments. We pack the plants into a box to prevent them from being knocked around and provide the securest setting for them. They are packed into the box and delivered to your door in less than 24 hours which is not a problem for the plants we ship. Sorry to hear some braches were broken in transit, if there is anything badly damaged please do let me know - Katie (katie@johnstowngardencentre.ie)

The plants i recieved were in good condition, oil damp and well packed apart fron over use of cellptPe which made it difficult to unpack the plants without damage. However the item I most wanted, salvia snoehill was not delivered as out of stock. This was known before the order was dwspatched, although in the catalogue but ,i was not informed or allowed to order a substitute,.

Hi Ann, the plants are heavily taped so that they won't get damaged during transit. We informed you that the salvia was out of stock and sent the remainder without it. Sorry we could not get it for you.
