“We are in our 50’s and had a real challenge on our hand to get mortgage protection insurance as my wife had type 2 diabetes with a really high HbA1c reading and high blood pressure of 155/90 along with very high BMI of 36 and I had elevated cholesterol 7.1 and white coat syndrome for high blood pressure at 165/82 if I got my blood pressure checked at GP with a BMI of 32. John Hourigan at lion.ie was amazing to work with and gave us precise advice on how to approach the insurers for getting our mortgage protection in place. He took our blood reports and other Medical data and approached the underwriters in advance securing pre approvals which was amazing as we had got a lot of postponements due to our tough medical health .He then guided us through the PMA process whereby our GP had to fill out our medical reports. When John went on holidays Kathleen Sammon and Hannah McGowan provided amazing support and coverage. I was anxious , nervous & frustrated and would call and email multiple times asking questions and following up on status and was always responded to courteously and in a timely fashion. We have secured our mortgage protection which enabled us to buy our dream house. I am delighted we chose Lion.ie for our mortgage protection”

“We had an excellent experience with Lion.ie. After previously being postponed for mortgage protection, we weren’t sure if getting cover was even possible. John guided us through the entire process, starting with an anonymous application to see how different providers might respond. Based on their feedback, he identified the insurer most likely to offer us cover. To our surprise, we were accepted at standard rates — something we genuinely didn’t think was possible. The communication and support from John and the Lion.ie team was outstanding from start to finish. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough.”

“I would have no hesitation in giving lion.ie a 5 star review. We had a really difficult time getting mortgage protection due to my previous cancer diagnosis and my partner is a type 1 diabetic. We had previously been offered extortionate and unsustainable premiums despite appliyinb to numerous companies. To be honest, we were left a bit scarred by the whole process. I contacted lion.ie as I had seen on social media that they we excellent in dealing with people who have had health issues. Richard dealt with our case and he could not have been more helpful and professional. Richie made the whole process so easy, I had forms filled out in minutes and he took care of the rest. After having such a difficult time previously , I cannot tell you how much I appreciate Richards help. He also kept constant communication so as we were aware of the status of our application at all times. He really was a pleasure to deal with. Thanks to everyone at lion.ie for their help, you have a remarkable team.”

“John was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in securing mortgage protection for a type 1 diabetic. I knew as soon as he mentioned HBA1C on the first call that I was in the right place. He was extremely prompt in communicating with me throughout. Being able to schedule calls at certain times made things easier to manage around work also.”

“Due to health issues we knew one of us would not be able to get mortgage protection. We had tried some of the main mortgage protection companies which confirmed this, but would still not provide us with a letter of refusal. This was becoming a sticking point to get our mortgae across the line. We got in contact with Lion and were dealing with Richie, from the first call he was so helpful, actually listened to us, and gave us so much advice. It was a breath of fresh air after dealing with the other companies. He explained he would be able to get the letter of refusal for us, less than 2 days from making contact he had 2 letter of refusals got for us. Trying to get the mortgage protection and a refusal letter was becoming a headache until we got in contact with Richie, he took all the hassle out of it. I could not reccomend them enough.”
