“This is great soap. We’ve been looking for an environmentally friendly soap that doesn’t leave a lot of scum in the shower or sink and having tried a few we have found one at last! Would be even better if the inner wrapper were not plastic.”

Hi, thank you for your review. Glad to hear that you are enjoying our soaps! Our soaps are #1 Ethical Best Buy for soaps in the UK (as voted by Ethical Consumer Magazine), for being Fair Trade, Organic, Palm Oil Free, Cruelty Free, and Vegan. As well as our Fragrance Free Soap winning Gold, and our Spearmint Exfoliating Soap winning Silver in the 2019 Free From Skincare Awards, due to the quality, lather, how they left the judges skin feeling, and how long the bar of soaps last. In regard to the plastic, to protect the unique formulation of our soaps and to prolong the scent of the essential oils (where applicable), these need to be wrapped in a recyclable PP plastic sachet/flow wrap, which we then pack in an FSC recyclable, compostable and biodegradable card carton. Soaps are normally made from palm oil and a soap made wholly from coconut oil, as ours is, is uncommon. Our soap also has a better lathering and foaming quality in comparison to those that use palm oil, which means that our soaps can sweat and impacts how we packaging them, which is why we use the flow wrap, however, the plastic used is as little as we can use. We have been working on it for a while, but we have recently finished successful trials using a new biodegradable flow wrap, which we will use for future productions. Daisy

“It does lather up very well, no reaction to my eczema skin which is awesome. I do have dry skin though after drying which I didn't expect.”

“I ordered a case of coconut milk because it was on offer for £12 instead of £18. Even though it is a wonderful product I was disappointed to see the imminent expiry date when I received it. Just a few days later the offer is changed to buy one case and get one free (with explicit reference to the imminent expiry date). To say I feel duped is an understatement...”

Hi Sam, Really sorry that you feel this way and please be assured that we always aim to be as fair as possible with the offers that we run. When we ran the first promotion, the Best Before date was (and still is) on the product description as we always add this where there is a shorter BBE, which in this instance was all but 2 months. We realised that not everyone clicks on to the actual product and so could miss this information. This is why we then added this to the latest promotion info details when sent out - we like to be as open and honest as we can with customers. With regard to the offer itself, with the latest offer of 'buy one get one free' we were trying to be fair to customers as the Best Before date is now shorter (approx 7 weeks), though the Coconut milk is, of course, still absolutely fine. It is definitely not our intention to dupe customers and I apologise that you have felt this. Petrina

Hi Hilary, thank you for your review. I'm so happy to hear that you love the coconut milk, it's a huge hit in the office as well. The milk will last unopened out of the fridge until the best before date, and once opened 3-4 days stored in the fridge. On our shop, we do have the best before date for any products that have under 6-months shelf life, this can be found in the description of the product.

“Love the LucyBee range. I know you do a lot of efforts to reduce plastic packaging and noticed all the packaging is almost fully recyclable. However it felt like a lot of packaging even if paper and cardboard. I know you are constantly working on this if I believe your social channels but worth highlighting anyways :) Product quality is otherwise great as usual!”

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this and it’s great to hear that you’re a fan of our range. With regard to packaging of the products, as you say, we aim to be as eco-friendly as we can. When it comes to shipping items, we have something of a balancing act to consider. We need to make sure orders arrive in good condition and without damage, bearing in mind that each parcel is handled several times between leaving our warehouse and arriving with you, and at the same time, we want to be environmentally-friendly. This is why we use recyclable paper and card, rather than plastic bubble wrap and we have a selection of different sized boxed to accommodate orders. Whilst it may seem like a lot of packaging, we need to make sure that items are secure in their box and don’t move around, which can lead to them being damaged. I appreciate your feedback on this. “I’m enjoying he lip scrub and balm so far, too early to tell if it’s having desired results but it’s a lovely product and smells delicious! Disappointed with the £7.50 postage cost to get two small lip pots the delivery was almost as much as the order. It seems excessive and to keep competitive I don’t think it’s a reasonable amount to charge. It would put me off ordering again, products would make a nice gift for friends but postage costs would deter me. It arrived quickly but there was no other option, understand people want to be able to choose next day if needed but then you pay for that service, normal delivery is fine in most situations.”

Hi Laura, We always aim to be completely fair to our customers. With regard to the postage for purchases on our store, we are charged by the courier company for every delivery, regardless of the value of the order. With some larger value orders we can cover either all or part of that fee but for orders under £15, unfortunately this isn’t possible. Not only is there the price of the postage but there is also a cost to us for the packing materials and the labour involved in processing an order. We are a small business and believe that we are fair in the postage fee that we charge, especially when you compare this to some large, well-known companies which also charge for deliveries under certain values. “The products are lovely, I bought 2 bars of soap amd some salt. The only reason I havent scored very good, was that I was disappointed to receive quite a large box stuffed with two large pieces of brown paper for such small items. Surely the packaging of the box could be reduced slightly? Saving on recycling and cost? Soap is lovely though...”

“I purchased the lip balm, the cleansing milk and the body cream. The lip balm solidifies in the pot, but I used the back of my nail to scrape the balm and apply it straight to my lips where it melted immediately and was easy to spread. Smells lovely. I had a cold, and it helped with my chapped lips however, had to apply frequently as is either absorbed too quickly or comes off with food/drink. The cleansing milk is insane, skin feels super soft after a cleanse. Doesn’t dry out the face at all. The face cream was sold out on the website but I imagine that combination would be insane. The body cream also is very good, smells divine and applies very easily. Have been using this everyday since I received it and my skin feels absolutely amazing. The only thing that lets it down slightly, is that there is very little gap between the dispenser’s neck and the bottle therefore when pressing down for cream it can sometimes end up on the bottle instead of in your hand.”

“Started using the cleansing cream and its lovely. Great smell and had kept my skin clear so far. Bought the bath salts for my other half and he's used them all up in the days!! Helped with his dryskin conditions.”

Hi Kate, we are so pleased you are enjoying using the Cleansing Milk. I find removing my makeup using the Cleansing Milk so easy. Also it's great to hear your other half likes the bath salts. The skin is the body’s biggest organ and whatever we put on to it is absorbed into it. So, it makes sense to use natural, mineral-rich products. The Dead Sea Bath Salt is healing for skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema. Rian.

“Hey, I absolutely love the texture and feel of the products on my skin. I was super impressed with the packaging as well, love the fact that they’re all glass. I have annoyingly broken out in a rash under my eyes though, so I’m worried it may be the new product. I’m surprised though, because the ingredients are so natural. Just having a break from it as a result, and will retry in a couple of week, just in case it’s something else. Really love the products though”

As you say, the ingredients are completely natural with no chemicals or nasties so it is surprising that this has happened.
