“It was an easy and straightforward transaction selling my ‘late brothers’ camera equipment.. sure I could have got a bit more selling each individual item privately but … I was so happy to sell it all in one transaction and for a fair price”
“Love that they give good fair quotes. Don't like that the don't recognize high end cinema equipment, like the Orange Tangerine EVF mount, or the indespensible Zacuto servo extender cable (every 18-80 CN-E owner will tell you about.”
“I believe I sold them about 60% of my photography equipment, including 8 or 9 digital SLRs. However, I have always been curious about their inspection and valuation process for used equipment. For instance, when I sold them an SLR with a charger, they would make a big fuss if the charger was a third-party one and reduce the price accordingly. Yet, sometimes I sent them the camera with the original battery, and they still paid me the original price. Additionally, if I forgot to remove the LCD screen protector from the camera, they would reduce the payment, claiming there were scratches on it, even though the original camera screen had no defects at all.
Moreover, I would attach some matching products that I could not find on their website, such as MEIKE lenses, to the equipment I sent them, in an attempt to test their honesty. Unfortunately, I was disappointed as they did not mention anything about these items. I am unsure whether they kept them or discarded them, which amounted to about $300 or $400 worth of equipment.
When I sell used photography equipment, I make sure to be clear about the condition and completeness of each item. For instance, when I received a returned Canon flash and a Sigma DP0 Quattro, I immediately noticed the flash was missing its pouch and the Sigma's lens cap was replaced with a non-branded one. These small details can drastically change the resale value. I know that if I want to sell them at the ideal price, I'll need to replace these with original parts, even though it's an extra expense. I always document the condition before selling, so I can verify any changes if an item is returned. It's a small effort that maintains the integrity of the sale and ensures satisfaction on both ends. I've learned that meticulous inspection procedures are crucial to avoid such issues and protect my investments. It's disappointing when such oversights happen, but it reinforces the importance of attention to detail in every transaction.”
“Easy to use. They pick up or collect from a store. Deliver to your house if part exchange. You'll always lose money in a part ex but that's business and it takes the hassle out of trying to sell.”
“I have made several major purchases from mpb.com, like a Canon 400mm f4 DO, Fujifilm X Mount bodies and lenses, and the occasional Leica M Mount lens. Never disappointed in the quality, description vs reality, value to price, shipping etc. Not really sure why the overall score is mid range.”
