“I recently took a chance on purchasing a Canon camera from MPB, after a good experience purchasing a battery from them. Fast shipping and a very fair price. I thought a battery compartment cover was missing, but the listing for my camera had been removed, so I couldn't verify it was included. I started a chat to find out if I was right or wrong, and that's where the whole experience took a nose dive. What I learned in that stunningly frustrating experience was that these people do not know anything about the gear they are selling. I kept asking the person to check the original listing to verify if this cover was include, and instead they sent me pictures and kept say it was in the box. They didn't know that the picture showed the battery installed (1Ds MK III), NOT the compartment cover. I finally asked for a phone number to talk to a manager. I call and could only leave a message and never heard back. For simple things, they might be OK. For actual cameras...YIKES! Stay away! Yeah, they have a 14 day return policy, but the answer is to make sure your customer support people know what they are talking about. If they don't, then find someone who does! Oh, and you CAN get the shutter count from virtually every digital camera made in at least the last 20 years. It is NOT "unavailable". They were just too lazy to get it or didn't know how. I rest my case.”
“I have used mpb for many years and never been disappointed, always a good choice of equipment and very competitive prices, whether buying, selling, or part exchange, why go elsewhere ?”
“Website is easy to navigate and understand. All the equipment you see is the equipment you would receive. You can get an instant quote for selling or exchanging your items. The only real drawback is if you have a problem/ question, your only option is email or message via Facebook. Both take a long time to get an answer.”
“Buying from MPB is a generally good experience. Selling or trading - not so much. Here is their procedure: you ship them your equipment after doing a self-assessment of the quality, and they give you an initial quote. It will be an attractive figure, but don't pay any attention to it, because it isn't what you will get. Once they get your equipment, they will downgrade the quality of your item without an explanation or chance to counter-offer. Because they are confident that you will take their reduced deal rather than having them ship your gear back to you and you have to find another buyer. Also, if you are missing anything, like a lens hood, they will charge you their retail price - double their cost. So they squeeze you there too. Next time I'll go with eBay or even a pawn shop.”
“Bait and switch lately. Before had no problems with them. Lately they do as KEH did: fungus or moisture inside the lens story to deduct the $. I should request a video and pics of my lens with serial number. But wanted no hustle and delays.”
“I wanted a backup camera, so I decided to order a used one from MPB. I chose my camera Friday, March 25, 2022, at around 11:30am EST. I also paid the extra $19 for my order to be here by Tuesday March 29th. I also received an email stating
"Thank you for your recent order with MPB.
We need to verify further details regarding your order before we can process it through to dispatch. We’ll be giving you a call soon to confirm these details so we can ship out your gear as soon as possible!"
I will update the status of this review to give those an idea of how my process went. (First time ordering)”
