I shipped an iPhone 7 with fully working camera (I still used it to take photos before shipping, and they are good) in official Apple iPhone packaging. I got an email to say that it arrived with a damaged camera and my offer was reduced to almost nothing. I emailed on Wednesday to complain about the situation - it's now Monday and no reply. I tried calling, nobody answered. I tried online chat and was disconnected. Avoid this absolute disaster, because nobody is helping me.

I sent them a PS4 with TWO controllers one with the PS4 and a spare one. They are claiming they only received one controller. They offered me £190 online then sent me an email saying that only one controller turned up and there reviewed offer was £114. However the PS4 only comes with one controller which they have but refused to honour the original price and sent the PS4 back without a controller. I am seeking further advice on this matter.

1. The web site is very poor. It is not possible to bring up a saved list without adding to it. 2. The value of an item in your saved 'to be sold' list can change up to the point that you finalise and submit the list. 3. One of my for sale dvds was rejected once MM checked it. No reason given and they refuse to return it. I watched it just before sending it to them. 4. MM do not pay enough.

Please stay away from musicMagpie. I sent them a box of 122 items, some worth 1p, some £10. Mostly old CDs. £77 was offered, the courier came, all good. They only paid me £50. 13 items were rejected. They allege they were damaged (I admit some old CDs I haven't played for yonks might have been), some CDs were missing from the case (I checked everything and they were all intact) and some items were not originals (never bought a forgery in my life). However the 3 most high value items (3 PS4 games at £20) were 'not sent' according to their warehouse checkers. Hmmmm, they were in the same box as all the other items you've received so that's strange isn't it... I've been contacting them all week, only to get generic replies. They will not entertain the idea that these items were lost or stolen at their end. They say it's my fault, I should have checked their T&Cs to avoid this. Not sure how that would have avoided getting scammed, but anyway... to top it off I tweeted Steve Oliver the MD this morning (@TheBlueMagpie) and he has blocked me. Terrible terrible experience. I've used them before a number of times with no problems. I've recommended them to everyone. But when something goes wrong they lose all interest in helping you. So I'm £27 down, they won't send the 'fakes' or the 'damaged' items back, instead they'll 'recycle' them and I cannot do a damn thing about it, but accept that I've been shafted. Nor will they offer anything as a good will gesture to resolve my dissatisfaction. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

DO NOT SELL YOUR PHONE TO THIS COMPANY. If you do then make sure you take pictures of your phone before you ship it, package your phone securely (obviously) and take photos of the packaging also. Music Magpie will make you a significantly higher offer than most websites for your mobile phone, you will send it to them and they will tell you the phone is damaged or in poor condition and offer you a significantly lower amount. If you don’t accept the offer they will damage your phone and send it back to you. This has happened to me and a number of other people if you do a simple search on google you will see the problems people are having with them. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

I am VERY annoyed at this service I feel I have been scammed. My item was in great condition and worked perfectly, I took pictures of my item before sending it off and after the reset even tested it it worked properly (which it did) and was quoted £300, when they received my order they tried telling me it has faulty software and water damage? This is ridiculous as now I’m being quoted £60. How dare you scam people like this during a time like this.

If 0 stars was an option !! Goods (2 x ipads)stolen either in transit or upon receipt???. Never had any problems before with many transactions with MM but no help at all on this occasion and now over £100 short in my pocket. Lesson learnt, will never use this company again. This is not just sour grapes but a genuine warning to others, please beware.

Bought an s8 in mid feb. It looked ok, however it started having problems almost immediately. It charged quickly and drained quickly. It froze, jittered and rang people sporadically. Because I was going to travel and needed a phone, I delayed returning it. When I came home, I dropped it. This did not make its performance worse. However, because the screen was marked they said the warranty was void. They did not seem to have examined the phone nor tell me what was wrong with it. This is the first time I have had a problem with a refurbished phone. Needless to say I SHALL NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY again.

Trade 1951954 Claimed 9 of my items were missing when I put them all in the box one by one and ticked them off against the list. Customer services sent me emails that were nonsensical when I challenged and simply paid me less the 9 items. So incompetent - or at least I hope that's what it amounts to - that I will never use again.

My phone was valued at £105 because it met all the criteria, everything worked as it should and it had no chips or cracks on the screen. However, after sending it in I was informed that the "item is not as specified" because apparently the NFC was not working. First of all, I had used my phone the week before to make a contactless payment and the NFC worked just fine. And second of all, a malfunctioning NFC chip does not bring the value of a phone down by 75%! The revised offer I received after the evaluation was only £27 which is ridiculous. I'm guessing they expect you to not want to go through the hassle of getting your items sent back to you, so they find/ create minor faults and hope that you accept the small fraction of the original price that they offered you. On top of all this, when I got my phone back from them after declining their revised offer the original box and screen protector that I sent the phone in were both missing. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. Avoid at all costs!

This company should be avoided at all costs. As well as offering you pittance for your items, on receipt of them they will then claim to ‘reject’ them on the grounds they are falsely either ‘damaged’ or ‘missing’ and then refuse to return them back to you unless they’ve quoted you above £15.00 per item to begin with, which is highly unlikely since books and DVDs typically sell for pence as opposed to pounds on their site. As in my case they claimed DVD box sets which were NEW, UNOPENED and still with the plastic covering on were all considered either “missing” or “damaged” and because none of them were over £15 they kept ALL of them, around half of what I actually sent them. Frustratingly, as I learnt to my detriment, they then covered their sorry arses by cleverly worded small print which is neither clear or arguable since it serves to only cover their underhanded tactics. Another example of this was when they initially offered my son £21.88 for an under used PSP Go still in its original box with everything in tact, only for them to make a revised offer (10 DAYS later) of £2.80, following their so called inspection which found it to be ‘incomplete’. Again this was an unsubstantiated claim on their part. I did get it back, in the end but only because they originally quoted me over £20 had it not been over this amount they would have kept that too. In a nut shell this company makes money from ripping people off. Their conduct is nothing short of contemptible and if you question it (like I did) you’ll get an arrogant response back which ‘thanks’ you for your email along with a copy of a small section of their less than transparent ‘terms and conditions’. What should be in that small print is how they will make false claims as to the condition of your property or state (also falsely) that items are missing as a blatant attempt to prevent them from paying you what your owed and what they quoted you to begin with. In my instance I was quoted £106 for 138 items. In the end they paid me £40 and kept hold of every single item they claimed to reject!! The majority of the items was stuff my kids wanted to sell, things they didn’t use or hadn’t even opened like dvd etc just to get a bit of extra money which is the sole reason I’m driven to write this. Worse still is that they don’t even tell you in advance what their so called final offer will be. They will just pay the heavily discounted revised amount straight into your bank account with prior consent based on the presumption you are in agreement, whether you are or not!!! When you confront them they will tell you they acted within the constrains of the law but even if that were true (and right now it’s already consumed me more than it should) it doesn’t discount from the fact that they acted in such an unscrupulous fashion which is totally driven by greed. So to those of you that will be hoping and perhaps expecting to make a bit of extra money from trading their unwanted items ‘with ease’ (like they state on their website) the truth couldn’t be more different. You don’t get ‘cash quickly’ either, that too is an unsubstantiated claim of theirs. What they will ACTUALLY do is rip people off to serve their own ends by misleading customers into thinking they are entering into a honest transaction but BE WARNED YOU ARE NOT!!! So don’t bother either keep hold of it or better still give it to charity like I wished we’d done as your’ll feel much better for and if you can discourage others from using this site and use social media to spread the word, like I say avoid at all costs!!!

I have used multiple companies that buy dvds and music magpie has to be the worst. They declined two dvds as they indicated they were damaged (I have previously verified them on my pc), one conveniently was the most valuable one and the other was probably the next most valuable. Nice Try Music Magpie, never ones to let a pandemic stop you from fleecing people. If you are thinking of selling your dvds, avoid. WeBuyBooks and Ziffit are much better options. I have only left one star because you can't leave a 0,

Appalling customer service!!! Dont sell anything using Magpie!!! They will lie to you, lose your stuff etc. We sent three phones and one watch to Magpie. Initially they valued it at £70, which was acceptable for us since there were old devices. I am not a first time seller when it comes to Ebay but I am a newbie to Magpie and was stupid not to stick to my habits of taking pictures of the contents before I sell them or send them away...! Week later I receive a few emails saying that one of my phones is still locked to my account (of course I signed out before I restored the device!). Ok, I double-triple checked my account, took screenshots proving that device is not locked to my account at all! But Magpie still says that device is connected to my account, therefore they wont pay for it. NEXT, my mini Samsung was reported to have a burnt screen and faulty LCD, which is a total b*llshit, naturally. Therefore, instead of £10 they offer £1. Of course I declined. Third device. My Moto 360 was apparently 'lost' or 'not received' by Magpie. And of course everything was blamed on me. I explained that I placed all 4 devices in the same box, all nicely wrapped. Now I am waiting for their 'verdict' on my One M9 watch ,what pathetic excuse they will come up with now , just not to pay initial price... I already declined everything, requested for all 4 devices to be returned back to me , in the same good condition I sent it to them, including 'lost' Moto 360. Now it's just a waiting game. I will get going to Trading Standards complaining about Magpie. Use Ebay and always take pictures of what you sell before you pack it and send it away!!!

Ordered an unlocked iPhone but instead I received a locked iPhone which meant I had to go to a post office to return it. When I followed up in the knowledge that it had been received at their warehouse I was told I would have to wait up to 7 days before a replacement could be sent. Remember the fault was with them. In the end they advised that they had NO unlocked phones & would refund me. Very poor service & the customer care team had no compassion to my plight
