“Exactly what I was expecting. The quality of the tags is top notch, they look and feel great and seem highly durable. Delivery was quicker than I thought it would be, they arrived days before the estimated delivery day, which was already close after the date I placed my order. Will definitely buy a second pair in the future!”

Hi Lonnie, thanks for your feedback. Vietnam era dogtags transitioned from notched to notchless around 1967, although some bases continued to issue notched tags into the 70s while they used up remaining inventory. Hi Frederick, thanks for your feedback. Our new style of red aluminum medical tags (with the more rounded corners) are actual military-issue tags. More people prefer these because of the rounder corners. However, we do still indeed have some of the old stock of the original tags you purchased as we will remake your order for free using the original tags.

“Shipping was much faster than originally estimated. Only thing I noticed was when I compared my new dogtags with my original army issue one that I still had from the early 90's (over the years I lost the others which is why I ordered 2 replacement sets) I noticed that while the font looked the same the size of the font used on my new dogtags was actually just a tiny bit smaller than on my original set. Other than that I'm happy with how they turned out. Oh and at least in my case their predefined template was wrong, I had to make several changes in order to make it look like my originals (raised edge on top, raised edge of hole on top, had to remove the dashes from my SSN (replaced with spaces as it appeared on my originals), and had to remove the period after my middle initial. I'm a first Gulf War vet and the one remaining original dogtag I have is one of the ones I was issued at Fort McCoy when my unit was activated (so maybe they got the positioning of the raised edge wrong when they made them, who knows)”

“These dog tags are nice but not as sturdy as real army dog tags. I believe they will be easy to bend. Just have to wait and see how they hold up.”

Hi Craig thanks for your review! We actually offer pre-assembly as an add-on service for a small fee. Most people can easily assemble the tags themselves, but we offer this service for those with limited hand dexterity.

Hi Scott, Thanks for your feedback. Our dogtag designer actually lets you adjust the 'character density' (characters per inch) so that you can squeeze in more information if need be. WWII era tags typically used 12 CPI, Vietnam era 11 CPI, and modern tags 10 CPI. We also offer a service whereby you can send us a photo of the original tags and we will match them exactly. The templates are more intended for people who have lost the original tags.

Hi Lee, we do indeed offer shiny and semi-gloss in addition to matte dogtags. We offer all 3 options to our customers because all 3 were used by different branches of the military depending where and when you served. There is no one 'standard' finish. Please contact us if you would like to change it to shiny.
