“Buyer beware, I recently bought a car from this company and was promised that I would have some scratches and stone chips repaired, so far after writing to the sales manager still no joy, not the kind of after sales you would expect from a so called professional company”
“Would never buy a car from them again!!
I was sold a car with 3 barely legal tyres which they were not going to replace, i took the car to another garage who advised the tyres had to be changed, peter vardy staff then said they would replace 2 tyres....not good enough im afraid!! I had to threaten with trading standards for them to take me seriously!! No management were available to me the whole day when i was waiting for said tyres to be changed!!
Previous to the tyre fiasco, the boot liner was hanging off and when i got home the passenger side indicator was hanging off!! I would not recommend this garage to anyone...i was treated with the upmost respect until i handed over MY hardearned cash and then it was a case WE DONT CARE!!! I was spoken to like rubbish by the salesman & some mechanic guy in front of potential customers.
I am in the process of putting in an official complaint to head office but wether anything is done about the aberdeen vauxhall branch is another matter. I will not let this matter rest!! The car was only bought 1 week ago. Very unhappy dissatisfied customer!! If there was a minus stars then they would get it!!”
“ABERDEEN VAUXHALL BRANCH.......LANG STRACHT ROAD!!!!!!!
i dont know where to start!
first of all the car i bought online/over the telephone was not the car i was presented with on pick up day 23rd feb, turns out the car in the picture was a mistake and was a top of the range brand new model (i was buying an 11 plate). after alot of apologising we came to an agreement, i was happy.......just for a while!
i took the car home to find the boot liner not attached to the boot, the passenger side indicator hanging off above wheel arch, i called the salesman (scott) who said i would have to get the services department, whilst on the phone i asked for the MOT certificate as i hadnt received it, he said he would email me a copy.give him his due he did send it through but when i read it i was in disbelief, turns out 3 out 4 tyres were just legal in more as per advisory.....now im no trader but even i know if your paying the guts of 10 grand for a motor you dont expect to be going out and buying 3 tyres straight after!!
i phoned scott back who's reply to me was.......they are legal, i basically said this was not the last of it! this was tues 24th feb. next morning wed 25th feb (coz it was at night i got email) i went to my nearest tyre garage for a second opinion, they were astounded that a car was sold like that and advised me there and then to change the 3 tyres at nearly £200 a pop each. i phoned scott again but this time i was ready for the rubbish he was going to say, to start with he was having none of it and then once i threatened trading standards he said he would have to speak to his manager and call me back, he did and i was asked to take the car back to Aberdeen (54 miles) i did this and when i arrived i was told the car was getting taking into the garage for the tyres to be checked. eventually a mechanic kinda guy come to me and said the manager has agreed to put on 2 new tyres......i said no its 3 tyres....this guy argued with me in front of other customers and i WAS NOT backing down i picked up my phone and said forget it im away to phone trading standards as this isnt on, he said he would go get the manager, he come back and said he couldnt find a manager but he would order 3 tyres anyways and to come back tommorrow, now i live 58 miles from aberdeen so i certainly was not going home to come back again, now this guy was not happy his exact words "well you'll have a long wait" im not caring i said, i also said while your waiting on the tyres you can fix the other jobs thats wrong with the car, this was at 10am, i left at 3.15pm after getting spoken to like crap!!
the following day i go out to my car and the tyre is flat (new one), so i pump it up enough to get me to my local garage and it turns out they didnt seal the valve and the mechanic tells me that whoever done my tyres the previous day had been very rough and damaged the valve, good going peter vardy staff!!!!
i will never ever buy another car from this bunch of cowboys again and if you are reading this and have any sense then please stay away from them.
peter vardy staff (not all) but most have the worst customer services skills going, totally up your back end until you part with your hard earned cash then they really couldnt care a less. i honestly felt like they thought i was an easy target as i am a young lass but i do tend to stand my ground and not back down! if there are any staff from peter vardy reading this please note I WILL be putting in an official complaint about the Aberdeen branch and i will also be advising anyone who wants to listen to me not to buy from peter vardy!!!!!”
“Terrible customer service at Peter vardy bmw in Edinburgh I went to see a car put a deposit down to hold the car but the following day we had a change of heart and decided to cancel the car and they wouldn't give me my deposit of £500 back I'll never be using them again again and manager was very rude as well”
“After buying a brand new antara from Peter vardy (sales guy great) after over year old found to have problem with windscreen misting and water appearing , I was told by certain branch , that my car was only under warranty for a year from being water proof , and needed to pay £94.84 for to find out where water was coming from #vauxhall great water proof cars Not !!!!!
#peter vardy Vauxhall NEVER AGAIN will you get any money from me”
“After ONE MONTH waiting for my car to be repaired, it still has problems. Mistake after mistake after mistake (Edinburgh branch).
No more excuses (short staff, third parties).
No more waiting.
I want my money back, this car is not fit for purpose.
I've bought many cars, this is by far the worst experience ever.”
“went to pick car up on weds11thfeb had not seen car as it was coming down from Aberdeen noticed scores on front bumper fag burns on both front seats was not valeted
was left to put car mats in myself that I found in boot ,was told from Gary that he can repair car and his manager to authorised it got them to sign my paperwork, my car went in on mon16th Feb. to be done I had to keep phoning the branch then Gary phoned me on tue night to say car will be back on the forecourt from the paint shop at 12pm and all repairs done ready to pick up and everything was done, got a phone call 11am on the weds from receptionist to say the wrong seat had came, phoned back and asked to speak to manager got Sean told him and still getting mucked about so my car I purchased is still in the branch, told Sean not happy with customers service, now he is saying it will be a another week before it will be fixed if he can get it fixed. not happy with any of the service I got said to Sean I will be wanting a replacement car. all I get told from him he is short staff.I will be taking this further. wont be using this branch again in the future.”
“This is my 2nd review here as already written one regarding the kirkcaldy branch. Being messed about with deals and lack of communication. However i wished to take my complaint further and went outwith the branch. I have waited 1 week on a managing partner to call me regarding this complaint and eventually all i got was the manager of the kirkcaldy branch calling with an apology. At this stage an apology is not enough. I have also waited 10 says so far to get my deposit back. My next step is citizens advice and the media. I will not let this lie.”
“So I've already left a review a couple of weeks ago, a 5 star review. I really enjoyed the service I was given by the sales department.
This goes to the service department, who could not inspect, prepare and fix my car in time and with quality, absolute joke this is getting into.
The service guys, failed right from the start, when they should have inspected the car properly. They didn't even bother to stamp the service book and reset the oil life indicator on the trip computer (they prob didn't even change the oil!). It is basic stuff, you CANNOT sell a car like that.
It took me one test drive and 2 days of owning the car, to find 3 problems:
- "Unusable" gearbox
- Management light on
- Parking break light on, at all times.
The car was dropped at Vauxhall Edinburgh for diagnostic and repair on a Wednesday, almost 3 WEEKS after, and I'm still waiting for it. The car is an Astra SRi 1.4T. I was given a 3d 1.0L Corsa, dirty, by the way.
What really gets me angry is that I'm constantly told that the car will be ready on a certain day until I get that SHORT NOTICE phone call, when they tell it won't be, trying to make me believe it is all normal when in fact, this is just the result of poor management and poor standards, don't treat me like an idiot, you need to sort yourselves out! 3 goddamn weeks to get this sorted?? Who's gonna pay for this first installment??
Don't set false expectations, don't treat your customers like idiots, this is basic stuff and it is embarrassing! I expect proper compensation for this.

“Absolute disgrace service from sales service manager bought a car and nothing but problems had to get 4 new alloys which took 6 months to get . Had to get a cv joint fitted and now it has broken again aswell as the driveshaft because that has now broken and I have been left without a car for 5 days and still in garage had to take to a vauxhall garage because peter vardy refused to replace it even thought it should be covered under warranty had to get 2 new tyres 1 month after leaving the place because they were about illegal . Avoid with the biggest barge pole you can find !!!”
“Fill you full of promises and good deals. Phone to confirm and organise pick up. Then 2 hours later say the price was a mistake and add to it. All over you when you go in and as soon as they have your money arent interested. Avoid like the plague.”
“I ordered my car on June the 10th and was promised it in 3-4 days so paid my £100 deposit and waited. Car never came I told them my mot ran out on June 21st and needed it by then was promised it by then so I waited.Went to pick my car up on 21st and was told it was lost , I said I had no car and needed 1 for my hols on July 10th was promised it by then so I waited.Car never came was told it disappeared, promised I would get a new 1 by 25th July so waited.Car never came so I waited until 18th of August and was told this car had disappeared as well so cancelled .I still haven't got my deposit back ,shambolic way to treat customers.”
“On purchasing a new car for my wife and having previously purchased my own new car just over a year ago at Peter Vardy Kirkcaldy, I cannot believe the difference in service!! We opted to stay with Peter Vardy having had no issues with them previously. We asked if the finance could go in my name as it was a gift to my wife and that the car be registered in my wife's name, we were told that this was not a problem! We agreed and shook hands on a finance deal at £178.18 per month on the Saturday and yet when I came to sign the paperwork on the Wednesday it was £183.36! Over 5 years this is an extra £290. I was kept waiting for over two hours whilst signing these forms having been told they only needed an e-signature. I told the staff at the showroom that the car had better be ready for my wife to pick up the next day and that she should not be kept waiting as I had and I was assured that there would be no issues when she came to pick up her car! Had it not been for the fact that the car was a gift for my wife, on the day I went to sign the paperwork, I would have walked from the showroom and gone elsewhere for a car for her, but she had her heart set on this one! My wife went to pick up her car the next day and found that the car was not only registered in my name but also insured in my name which meant that she couldn't drive the car! This was rectified by adding her as a named driver, however what should have been a brand new car first registered in her name will now be a two car owner by the time she registers it in her name! My wife was kept waiting for over an hour, despite the assurances of the previous day and the fact that she called In the morning to tell the staff that she would be there at 3pm to collect her car and sign the paperwork for her cherished plate. What should have been an exciting time for her never having owned a brand new car was a complete disappointment to her. To finish her day off she drove the car home and tried to set up the Bluetooth facility on the car (having asked and being told three times in Peter Vardy before signing anything that the car had Bluetooth) only to find after trying to fathom it out for over an hour that the car did not have Bluetooth - one of the features which she wanted In her car. Peter Vardy took this on board and assured her that a Parrot Kit would be fitted to the car to the value of £200-£300. This kit was fitted today - available at £89 from Amazon! It isn't all about the money side of things it is about the shoddy way we were treated from such a family orientated company! The whole scenario of events completely took the shine from her of what is meant to be a happy and exciting time of picking up a new car. This won't happen again as I will take my business elsewhere. You have lost our valued custom and we will not be recommending Peter Vardy to friends and family, including our work colleagues.

“Bought a almost new car in January 2013 from the Edinburgh sea field branch. After 6months brakes started to make noises sounded like metal on metal, phoned to book it in it would take a week explained brakes are failing still a week to appointment. Brakes had to be replaced, 6months later brakes were have soft spots sent in for 1st service brake fluid had to be changed and tyres they wanted to charge me. When I bought the car the light inside and passenger airbag switch does not work. After two services and a check sheet they left in the car saying it was checked clear not. On both services I had to wait almost a 1hour to get a courtesy car. Wanted to upgrade my car guess I won't be going back to do that.”
“Worst experience in sales I have ever had. Once they have your money they couldn't care less. Absolutely no aftercare and nobody contacts me back after numerous phone calls regarding various problems. Never again!!”
“On October in Edinburgh We ordered car for Motability Scheme and I paid deposit. Around 3 weeks before delivery they canceled this contract because Vauxhall stopped building this car which I and my husband ordered. They offer us lower class, so we no agree it. We wont to take this deposit and we agree with Motability Advisor that they will send cheque next day by 1 class. We did not received it, so I sent email for them. Unfortunately they forgot send this cheque but paid on my closed account. They know that the account bank is closed and I've got a new account in another bank. Nonetheless they paid on this account and tried to convince that this card and account still working. And they tried to cancel this payment but they couldn't. I have problem with the refund my money. It is no my fault and no my problem that this bank will refund them the money. I think that they should be refund by my new account another money. But what happened with the money which they paid wrong that no my problem. That is them problem.”
“Bought a 2 year old vivaro in the summer (seafield)Had a few bits missing of the engine compartment nothing too serious. But it took them 6 weeks to get the parts. (Not impressed)
It also had a faulty front fog light .
This took them 3 months and 4 visits to branch 2 of them to pick up loan van.
When I eventually got the van back it had damage to the front bumper. The head light was also out of alignment and rubbing on the bonnet. RESPONSE COULDNT GIVE A DAM. Great attitude.”
Hi Gary, I'm really sorry to hear of the issues you have had with our Vauxhall Edinburgh branch. We will be in touch to discuss this within 48 hours. Thanks for your patience.
“Misleading adverts and adverts that should have been withdrawn days prior (apparently - only after I passed on the web link!), telephone runarounds, unfulfilled promised phone backs, and head office sales staff that don't know one piece of their anatomy from their elbow - all in all Peter Vardy Vauxhall not a company to trust. This such a contrast to their BMW franchise which I would commend.”
Hi Robin, I'm sorry you were unsatisfied with the service you received. I have since spoken with one of our managers who has advised he has spoken with you today and is currently looking into your query, we will be in touch. Thanks
“Peter Vardy do not care about there customers. Customer service not good. Communication not good. They are ok when selling you a car but the after service a joke. We'll Kirkcaldy is.
Please buy a car from someone else not Peter Vardy”
