“Disgusting company. Ripped my recently widowed mum off and lied and didn't fix the problem, but charged cash and took bank details. Overcharged as well. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY”
“Gas boiler service. Agent arrived in unmarked van on time and serviced boiler. Cost £118.80. I went on holiday and on return found hot water was lukewarm. Called Rightio who sent same person who said 'I have done nothing to it' and departed.. They then billed my debit card for a further £218.40 and still no hot water. Total bill £337.20.
Do not used this company under any circumstances”
“Be aware electrician came from Chorley to Wirral, Looked at my burnt shower fuse box took some photos said no longer make them boxes would need new consumer box, didn’t even isolate burnt box, said he would get Rightio to send estimate, asked him rough estimate, I said WOW, Rightio charged my card £201-60 for job completed, my WOW came back as I couldn’t afford to pay.
As they didn’t even isolate the problem I managed to contact a brilliant company they came isolated at no charge, came back day later and did job, so considering I had no money I’ve paid Rightio and the brilliant company whose response was absolutely brilliant.
Roy (pensioner)”
“I called Rightio to fit a light
There was a part missing. Lad was rude and said be back next week
Was charged £153 for a 10 minute visit doing nothing. This was not confirmed by the engineer or lady on phone.
Got light fitted by friend then next day
Trading standards needs to stop this happening. Shocking”
“Although Steve could not fix our gas fire due to the parts coting £400plus labor. He was very helpful and informative.I was perplexed and bit worried about giving my bank details but after a phone call was assured all was okay”
“Scam! They sent an engineer, charged me 262 pounds, he couldn’t even fix the error code shown on the boiler, he phoned the boiler company to understand the issue, made sure to waste some more time so he could get his hourly pay, then left saying “a part needs to be changed”. They promised me that they’ll call the next day and send the engineer again (and that I will need to pay both for the parts and the engineer). No one called or came. I called to see what was going on and they said the parts will come 5 days later 🤣
Don’t waste your money… Terrible customer service, extremely expensive and I’m almost certain it’s scam.”
“The plumber refused to go back to my house to turn the water back on he had turned off
He demanded I pay £188+ to return
His estimate to fix my shower control switch was £560 for 2 hours work
I got a real plumber out today who turned the water back on
Fixed my shower
And also cleared a sink blockage
He was in my home for about 25 minutes
And charged me £102 for the whole work
Stear clear of rightio they are a bunch of cowboys, liars and bullies”
“Prices extortionate, no customer service, exploiting older people. Promised discount not given. Difficult to communicate with, too many scripted conversations with different departments who clearly don’t talk to each other, had to recall plumber as leak not fixed properly. Awful experience”
“Would not recommend this company at all.
Water drainage blockage under sink. 2 hours work to replace plastic pipes and charged £709.
I am over 80 years old.”
“Would highly recommend rightio to anybody . The Engineer Callam , the leak was in the bathroom. With the hour Callam quickly sourced the leak.Callam was professional and very friendly. Overall great service from the initial call to the final visit. Thank you used you again.”
“It’s not just Rightio I feel I’ve had a bad experience with but also Trustpilot, I went to Rightio for emergency leak using your reviews of 4/5 stars. They did their little scam of not mentioning VAT which is unprofessional. I actually halted the job after half an hour because my daughters and myself just didn’t feel confident that he had actually found the leak but was suggesting another 4 hours on the job. But then went back to Rightio Trust Pilot reviews to find you had that many different review sites for them but some showing mainly 1 * upto mainly 5* and this is something I’ve raised and I ask why not one overall review site not 5 or so.”
“I called Righto to replace my electric shower which had stopped working.
Firstly, they said they had been to the door and no one was home which was a lie as we have cctv. When I called to complain I was told that was not the reason on the system and the reason submitted was that the plumber/electrician had difficulties with his previous job and couldn't make it.
I was told someone would attend the next morning. He turned up and said he couldn't do the job because he was not a qualified electrician.
Told them I would find someone else. Useless.”
“Was quoted £168 to fix a toilet ball valve that wouldn't shut off. Plumber turned up, was there for two minutes and said he didn't have the part with him but would check with his supplier and call back. I received no callback, but found the valve myself in the local Screwfix for £7.
I called them back to say I would sort it myself but was told that the £168 call out charge would still apply and now had VAT added taking the charge to over £200!
Absolute cowboys AVOID AVOID AVOID!”
“Mother in law has a broken shower. Plumber came out to look at job and she was charged £170.00 and he was only there for 17 minutes!! Absolutely disgusting. Avoid these cowboys at all costs! Have called to express my views on the matter and am awaiting a refund to go back into her account. Absolutely shameful.”
“Having called this company out to a problem of a kitchen sink waste pipe blockage. They arrived on the day called out, 16th September 2023. A part was required to complete the job. As it was a Saturday, and they don't have many operatives working on a Sunday, they would come back on Monday 18th September 2023. We received a call on the Sunday to say that the part would be £88.20! I queried this an was told that was the price. As the operative had left the sink in operable, I reluctantly agreed as the householder was elderly and had various health problems requiring carers calling morning and evening, myself attending mid day. On Monday the 18th September we received a call to say the operative could not attend that day. I reiterated the health, and age of the householder to no avail. I was told the operate would come on 19th September. On the 19th September we had a further call to say that the operative had an emergency to attend to and he would come out first thing on the 21st September. I again explaining the problems, age and health wise concerning the householder. Still no joy! On the 20th September a text was received saying that Thursdays visit would now be in the afternoon, not morning as promised. The operative actually arrived at approximately 10-30am on the morning of the 21st and completed the repair in less than ten minutes. He also left the parts box. Having googled how much the Nabis 1 1/2" sink combi waste (c50014) was from Wolsey it said £6.35 inclusive of VAT. I have today, 27th September, received a call back from customer services saying that the price for the part is correct at £88.20 as they have to put a mark up on the price and they guarantee the part for 12 months.
Please think again before contemplating using this company after reading my experience with them. Caveat emptor (Let the buyer beware) How true!!”
“These guys are truly fraud please don’t use them . They took a lot of money from me and said it’s one year warranty but problem remains the same next day, I call them again and they wanted to charge me more money! They were very rude and shouted over the phone. Please please do not let them steal your money.”
“Charged £160 call out plus VAT. Confirmed what I said the problem was. Took photos of broken cistern. In the house barely fifteen minutes, unable to fix job then 'because of parts needed'. Called me back three days later with quote for repair - £246.00. Had a quote from another plumber - £130.00. Regret I didn't read the reviews before calling them in. Don't touch them with a barge pole!!”
“TOTAL COWBOY CON ARTISTS BEWARE!!
These fraudsters attended my parents house on 26th September and charged £220 for a small bathroom leak. This was early evening so an “out of hours” call but still extortionate given all they did was rip a couple of tiles off to expose a pipe that needed replacement.
The following day they attended during normal working hours and charge a disgusting £305 per hour to fit the new water pipe. Total bill for that day was £420! So well overall £600 for an extremely straightforward job.
I queried the bills with customer service who are equally as useless as they have asked my parents for proof of what has been taken out of their account knowing full well what they had charged. This is because Rightio take bank card details when customers first make contact and then actually take the money automatically without customer consent. Despite emails and telephone calls from both myself and my parents they have still not responded and any contact has been with a different person each time.
This organisation should be investigated by the appropriate parties as their business practices fall well below any level of standards or fair charging policies. I am currently in discussions with Trading Standards who are very interested having received a number of other complaints.
Please DO NOT USE THEM unless you want to get totally and utterly ripped off!”
“DO NOT USE THIS ROGUE COMPANY I contacted Rightio for a boiler service and a dripping tap. They asked for my card details and security code I should have known better than to give the details to them they could have filled in any amount. The boiler was serviced no problems found charged £118.80 which i thought was O.K.Plumber said all i needed for the tap was a part and it would be cheaper than a new Tap the tap is 2 years old.He said he would order it and fit it next day he never came and I have never heard from him since.Rightio told me a payment of £147.60 on my cheque card would be taken for the tap. Many phone calls and ignored Emails later over the next 6 weeks and no Hot water downstairs as he had turned the water off.My Son fitted it for me in 10 minutes and the part was under £10.Rightio said I had given them the authority to take the money out of my account £147.60 and they would have charged extra for the Tap.I have contacted Trading Standards and Citizens Rights they say I have a good case.I contacted Rightio and they couldn't have cared less.I wish I had read all of their Feedbacks and I would not have used them they are rogue traders and need stopping this underhand treatment.”
