“I spent hours trying to connect the ESP-RZXe to the internet with the LNK module. The Wi-Fi signal is excellent, and the router can detect a connection to the LNK. But I can't connect via the app. In short, it's junk. Don't buy it. I'm switching to Hunter now. I saw a friend's setup with Hunter that works well.”
“Updated review: We ordered this item along with 3 large Rain Bird kits and some tubing. It has all worked great and is installing as expected. 1 sprinkler head was not adjusting and spinning 360 degrees. Initially customer service wasn’t helpful but I believe it was a 1 off employee and their corporate customer service has come through with flying colors! They apologized, looked into the matter and handled it internally, and have not only replaced the defective item but gave us additional replacement items. We will definitely continue to support this product and customer service.”
“If we could give it zero stars we would have solely to do with the manufacturers customer service. I would suggest they invest in better employees instead of penny pinching their defective devices. Out of 3 large kits purchased plus a single sprinkler head only 1 sprinkler came and did not function/adjust as it should. After contacting customer service to exchange or receive a functioning one, they were short and rude and wanted a video of how it would not adjust, then an in depth conversation with tech support and then they would consider replacing the $4 product. Direct quote by the rep after expressing the concern: “Well what do you want us to do about it?” Do not expect them to honor warranty based on this without jumping through hoops. After this encounter and expressing extreme dissatisfaction with their handling of the matter, they have now made it to where we can not order further replacement products through their Amazon store front. All of this after purchasing several products and planning to purchase more in the future until this experience. I can convey their short comings enough after this service interaction.”
“This timer is impossible to set.. after a while reading the complicated directions I walk away before my head explodes. The directions are ridiculously written and only a genius could figure it out. This product is going in the trash can and I'm getting a different brand that I can understand”
“It doesn’t make me happy.
I’ve had it for two or three years. Never have been able to program it. I had an earlier model several years ago and it was very simple and straight forward. This one should be recalled.”
“can't get the web to take my design order tried everything i can. emailed them with all specs and photos to get the design but i guess they wont step outside of box to help elder person that is not good with computers”
“It’s been impossible to program. One problem is that there is no indication of what’s been scheduled by the programming, so you don’t know when or how the system is going to run. Last summer we had a huge water bill because of this. The controller system needs a total redesign. Very disappointed, especially since our old model, a 2-week wheel where you could easily program which days, etc., was terrific. Sometimes changing to digital from analog is a disaster.”
“Called the rainbird contractor who installed my system for service, Rain Dance Irrigation & Landscaping Mandeville LA. I did not receive courtesy of a return call. Apparently they don't service what they sell. I won't use them the next time”
“I have ESP-ME3. The link wifi constantly requests a new reading every 10 seconds instead of showing the time left on the zone in real time. As others have shown numerous times, it also issues communication error too often. Why can’t you make something more reliable so i don’t have to be at home and looking at the settings in my garage. Isn’t that the whole point of having a wifi module? The new Link2 doesn’t work any better and you don’t show the difference anywhere so I had to call to learn it’s only a set up feature that was added. Ugghhh..”
“Rainbird app works only when it feels like it. Yes, it's connected to same wifi. Yes, I've cleared cache memory and forced stop. It's extremely unreliable and glitchy. I don't use it anymore. I use manual switcing”
“The Rainbird app doesn't have a new modern design. But that would be absolutely fine if it worked! :( Connecting to the controller (getting schedules and settings) takes ages. The first time it usually works. But if you have multiple zones or even controllers like me you must be really lucky to run the irrigation on a second one and on. Often time I get "Communication error" (Rainbird server has not received a response from the controller). It's very annoying and lengthy. Btw: the Wifi is fine and strong :)”
“Terrible app, need to get new developers that know what they are doing! Have had this system for over 4 years and never had good experience with it. It's mostly good except for the connectivity problem which makes the product useless, if you could resolve the problem with the app connecting to the controller you would have a great product. When I started up the system this year I have not been able to connect the app with the controller as usual so I have decided to go with a different product, I really liked the app when it worked but to much work and time to get it to work!”
“Terrible app. We cannot connect this app to our iPhones. I have gone thru the directions multiple times & continue to get "error". Why is a sprinkler app harder to connect than the thermostat, stereo, car, doorbell or any appliance??? I keep getting various different error messages. Several times it states that the wifi signal is weak, do I want to go ahead. YES. Then it continues with error messages. I have looked at videos and read the trouble shooting page and no joy. Our router is on the wall inside where the railbird panel is outside. Why on earth would I reconfigure my router and add wifi boosters etc. for a sprinkler connection that should be easy? This is insane. The connection should be the easiest of the steps. This purchase was a waste of money. Why all the security steps? The thing need not be NASA secure. If security is an issue for the owner then add those once the app is connected. DO BETTER RAINBIRD”
“It won’t connect to my phone. I called customer service. They told me I had to purchase a new module. I did still doesn’t connect to my phone. They suck.”
“Tru61 controller purchased last summer is very confusing to set up my 4 zones. Controller only works for zones 1 and 2 sometimes then repeats zone 1. I’m having to water zones manually. The old controller worked great but the screen fogged up permanently and I couldn’t read it. Seems like the controller is programmed to water all 4 zones consecutively and you can’t have each zone have a different start time. I’m ready to remove the old controller screen glass/plastic and reinstall it.”
“The rain bird won't find my local network. It is a 2.4 network and the extender is 4 feet from the device. The device will only connect to my neighbors very weak signal. This thing is a peice of shist”
“Terrible support for Rain Bird. I had an issue with the Rain Bird app and called at least three times and they could not figure out what the issue was. They thought it was a software issue and were going to escalate it to their software department and get back to me. They never did. I called again and spoke to support he said they will get back to you tomorrow never did. They are the worst support they could possibly be. If you have a major issue you are on you own. They say what you want to hear and that's it.”
“Be aware that the WiFi module has no protection against power surges. During a light rainstorm power was interrupted causing a surge. The slight surge fried the WiFi module. The storm wasn’t even strong enough to trip a breaker. It appears neither the controller or the module has any surge protection built in to the system or any warning to customers. They do cover the WiFi module in the warranty under , acts of God are not covered. As the Module and controller cost around $250 , I guess this helps sales.”
