“Overall: We had a very nice time here. The apartment was clean and well equipped. It is old, but quaint. Enjoyed Most: This villa is perfectly located within walking distance to all the major tourist sites and the train station.The host, Lorenzo, was very accommodating and helpful. WiFi worked perfectly. Enjoyed Least: The elevator is small. We only used it when we transported our luggage.Check in was somewhat confusing as we were unaware that we needed to call the key holder upon arrival. We didn't have a cell phone to phone him. Fortunately for us, a kind neighbor let us use his cell phone to call Lorenzo, who came within 5 minutes. Surrounding Area: The area was great for our stay, close to major sites, restaurants, and a super market. Tips or Restaurants: A local restaurant with authentic and nontouristy food was Cibreo (recommended by Lorenzo). Directions: The only directions were for driving. We took a taxi, so it worked ok, but we could have walked from the train station. Check In Out: Check out was fine -- just leave the key and close the door!”

“Overall: The property was lovely. The furnishings were beautiful, the views spectacular, and the pool area was gorgeous. Overall, a beautiful villa with stunning views. Enjoyed Most: The view was spectacular, and the unit was so interesting with the combination of natural stone, tile, and nice furnishings. Enjoyed Least: The location is a bit far from the towns we wanted to visit, especially with driving such a challenge. Parking at the unit was also difficult. Not a true shower in the master, and the shower in the guest bath was tiny with no place to put shampoo, razor, etc. Parking was a challenge at the unit, and driving in the area is stressful. Surrounding Area: Many excellent restaurants. The dining experiences were great. Nearby Events or Locales: Furore. No, it was not within walking distance. Having a car was a necessity. Tips or Restaurants: Excellent restaurants are Bacco, Ripa Della Janare,Agroturismo Sarafina, Fico L'India, L'Incanto. Directions: We were given directions to a bar to meet the property manager. We experienced a problem when we arrived. Our phones were not working, and we could not find a WiFi hotspot. A kind woman in the mini-mart made a phone call for us. Check In Out: I think the meeting point should be the villa, not a bar which is often closed. Need a backup plan for foreign tourists who may experience difficulty with phones or WiFi.”

“Overall: Very good. Enjoyed Most: The backyard. The description sounded like it was a shared pool. In fact, the entire back yard is fenced and covered with plantings, and there is a separate swimming pool for each property. Enjoyed Least: Bed a little short for my tall husband. Surrounding Area: Hiking and easy access to Ronda. Nearby Events or Locales: Ronda is not within walking distance but a quick drive. Check In Out: Appreciated the warm welcome and departure.”

“Overall: The owner was personable and helpful. Despite a week with lots of rain, we enjoyed ourselves in the house and taking day trips to Ronda center, Seville, Marbella Gibralter at the shore. The countryside is spectacular. Enjoyed Most: The nice yard, privacy and charm. We couldn't be outdoors much due to rain. The inside was cozy and well appointed and the bedrooms comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials: pots, dishes, utensils, bowls etc. Enjoyed Least: The washing machine was broken. Surrounding Area: A nice view of the countryside outside of the gate. It was a short drive into Ronda proper. The countryside is beautiful. Nearby Events or Locales: Ronda was a 5 minute drive. Tips or Restaurants: Washcloths are not provided; bring some if you need them.”

“Overall: It was a lovely property and very comfortable. The living space was a bit small for 8, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the house. The outdoor space would have been really enjoyable if there had been some seating. It would have been nice to sit outside with some wine in the evening. We enjoyed our stay. The staff was great. Enjoyed Most: It was charming with great views. Loved the doors that opened from each bedroom to the outside and the shutters. It has Tuscan charm. Enjoyed Least: Living space was a bit small for 8. I didn't like the limitations on the WiFi. Surrounding Area: It was a nice central location for the areas we wanted to visit, including Pisa, Cinque Terre, wineries, and Siena. Nearby Events or Locales: Montopoli, and no, I wouldn't consider it walking distance. We needed a car to get off the estate. It is a working vineyard Directions: A map. You had to make a full circle on the roundabout when getting off the fi-pi-li. GPS didn't provide accurate directions. Check In Out: Check in was easy and the staff was warm, friendly and helpful.”

“Overall: Overall it was a great week! The weather was perfect and we were able to absolutely relax! Our side trips were very easy and we were able to get back in time for a swim. Enjoyed Most: The pool area was very clean and very well kept. Sunset from the pool area was spectacular. Plus all the tree-lined roads leading up to our villa added to the charm. Bedrooms were spacious and bathrooms were well kept, air-conditioning was a nice perk. Enjoyed Least: There were lots of extra charges: Internet service, pool towels were 9 Euros per person, wine tasting and tour, which we didn't do, at 17 Euros per person. Also, we only had one change of towels during our stay, contrary to the daily change as listed. Also no DVD player as listed. We also had a problem with ants on our patio - but they took care of that after we mentioned it to them. Surrounding Area: Very accessible to many areas. We did Pisa and Lucca in one day, also did the Cinque Terre area in a day. Supermarkets and a nice restaurant were all near by. The estate was big enough to go on nice long runs in private, secure area. Nearby Events or Locales: Capanne was only about 2 miles away...you could walk 1.2 miles would be within the villa estate. We are a walking family so it was definitely doable for us. Tips or Restaurants: Bring insect spray. Tuscan mosquitoes are big!!”

“Overall: We had a lovely stay. Other than our one bad night with the late party, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay in the Tuscan countryside. Enjoyed Most: The setting was beautiful - the grounds, pool and surrounding property. The apartment was very nicely kept and comfortable for four people. Enjoyed Least: Nothing - other than one unfortunate incident with a party on the property during our stay that kept us awake until 3:00am. Surrounding Area: Driving to the local small towns and exploring both sites and every day Italian life Nearby Events or Locales: Montopoli and Capanne were the nearest small towns but not really within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Bring pool towels. As I read the property description I thought they were included but it is 8 euro per towel to have the property supply them. Also, the kitchen and fridge for the unit is a little small, so planning simple meals worked out best.”

“Overall: The apartment is very clean and a traditional Tuscan building. The bathrooms were huge and well equipped; the bedrooms were large and bright and the living room with kitchenette served our needs very well. It is a beautiful property.Enjoyed Most: The grounds, the privacy and the space. Also the proximity to the FI-PI-LI freeway- it was right off of the exit. Enjoyed Least: There is nothing that we found within walking distance and the nearest driving area seemed to just have supermarkets. So, although it is quite convenient to everywhere - including Florence, Siena, Pisa, Livorno - it is still a minimum 45 min. drive. Surrounding Area: The grounds were spectacular with beautiful views - we even saw a pack of wild boar on the property! Also there is a beautiful winery on the property and the manager, Matilde is great. Tips or Restaurants: A car is a must. This is a great place for people who want to see alot of different areas of Tuscany in one trip.”

“Overall: Our experience was very nice. The location was beautiful and the unit was very large. Enjoyed Most: The view was beautiful and it was very nice being in the winery. Enjoyed Least: The kitchen was small and did not have many pots and pans. Surrounding Area: The location was convenient to all the sites in the Tuscan region. Nearby Events or Locales: Caponne was the nearest town. It was not in walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Don't count on the baker coming as scheduled. She did not come 3 of the 6 days.”

“Overall: We enjoyed our stay. It was very peaceful. Enjoyed Most: The location--near the highway but you couldn't hear it. Enjoyed Least: Kitchen is very small and the kitchen knives very dull. Surrounding Area: Close to Coop for groceries and winery areas within a couple of hours. Nearby Events or Locales: Castel del Bosco-yes, it's within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Try the butcher shop in Cappone--great meat and sausage Directions: Needed GPS; it was accurate.”

“Overall: Staff were very nice and it is a beautiful location. Enjoyed Most: Very beautiful and special countryside. Provided a unique Italian experience. Enjoyed Least: Their wine was expensive at 34 Euros, compared to Tuscany wine sold in town for approximately 7 Euros. Because of cost we never tried it. I would suggest they have a reduced cost for the guests. Surrounding Area: Beautiful countryside. It is like a giant postcard. People of the area were very nice to us. Nearby Events or Locales: Montopoli, easy car drive away.”

“Overall: The estate was very beautiful with the attached wild areas. Everyone treated us very well, and when we had a request it was taken care of quickly. I was especially impressed with the central location of the property and the ease to travel to so many places nearby. Enjoyed Most: We enjoyed the pool and the outside BBQ. I also enjoyed picking figs for breakfast. Enjoyed Least: Barking dogs all night. It would have been nice to have had an English Channel on the TV. Two-hour washing machine cycles. Surrounding Area: Tuscany is so beautiful and we were right in the middle of it. We all enjoyed the proximity to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Pontederea, San Gimignano, Siena, and the coast. Nearby Events or Locales: Cappone was the closest town and it would have been a long walk. Tips or Restaurants: Bring wash cloths. Bring insect repellant,We found two great restaurants - one in Montopoli and one right below our Villa. Directions: It was hard for us to find our way to the Villa at first. Once we got layout it was fine. Check In Out: It went just fine.”

“Overall: The property was better than we expected. We were very pleased with it. There were 3 other families in the surrounding apartments, however when you were in your personal outdoor space, it was extremely private. The pool was perfect, and being on the top of a mountain made the 90 degree heat quite pleasant. Enjoyed Most: The apartment was super easy to keep clean! It was very low maintenance in that respect. Also, the air conditioning worked very well. Enjoyed Least: The beds were not so great...although when I made mention of this at the front desk, they had a fluffy mattress pad delivered the same day...which really helped. Additionally, the dishwasher didn't wash so well...One last item was the TV...there were only 3 English speaking channels. Watching TV at night was not an option. Surrounding Area: The area was perfect...30 minutes to Livorno, 30 minutes to Pisa, and about 45 minutes to Florence. Day trips were super easy! Nearby Events or Locales: Montopoli was the closest town...you had to drive there, and they were really skinny roads. This was a very small town, but did have a few restaurants as well as a great bakery and butcher shop with the best prosciutto I have ever tasted! Each morning, the baker would arrive around 8:15 with bread and breakfast pastries still warm from his shop. This was such a treat! Tips or Restaurants: We brought a portable speaker system for our iPod...it was perfect...bring a computer with DVD's for the kids...we wish we had brought more as there were only 3 English speaking channels available. Directions: We rented a car from EuropCar with a GPS. The GPS took us a different way once we were off the highway, but it did get us directly to the front gate. Check In Out: Make sure you check in first...then head out to the supermarket for food...we did the food shopping first...and there was hardly any room in the car for us!”

“Overall: Very good experience with excellent hospitality and awesome view. Very comfortable. Enjoyed Most: The view, atmosphere, and seating by the pool were the best! Enjoyed Least: The WiFi signal is weak. The bathroom shower is a bit small. Surrounding Area: Everything. The beach, chiringuitos, and old town are just a few minutes drive away. Manilva--a picturesque village--is about 15 minutes away and a lot of Costa del Sol is pretty close, such as Marbella, Casares, Puerto Banus, etc. Nearby Events or Locales: Estepona.Several places definitely within walking distance. Since we had a car, we preferred to take it so we didn't do much walking. Tips or Restaurants: The villa is well-equipped and Neville is extremely helpful so I wouldn't worry about bringing stuff. There are a couple of grocery store within a 5-minutes drive (walking distance) with everything available.Neville is also a gold mine in terms of restaurant recommendations. La Menorah (5 minutes walk) is one of the local gems and definitely a must. Directions: Directions were very detailed.Used a GPS in the rental so it was very easy. Check In Out: Absolutely great--Neville was there to greet us, helped us orient ourselves and settle in and check-out was a breeze.”

“Overall: Very pleasant. Enjoyed Most: Exceptionally clean and very well furnished with everything that you could need. Loved having the laundry access. Enjoyed Least: Really, no issues here. Surrounding Area: Very well kept neighbourhood, good grocery shopping within easy walking distance. Nearby Events or Locales: Estepona...walking was about 45 minutes, but not a problem overall. Tips or Restaurants: Everything you could need is there including blow dryer and iron...Went to "Swing" restaurant which was a less than 5 minute walk - great food and service! Directions: The owner picked us up at the bus station...forget asking the bus driver to let you off at Hotel Elba - the bus we were on will only stop at the bus station.”

“Enjoyed Most: The privacy, views, ease, and safety of the property. The on-site owners who were gracious hosts. Ah, yes, and the pool. We appreciated that we could borrow CDs and DVDs. We enjoyed the BBC TV channels. The ping pong table and board games were fun, too. Being able to use the clothes washer was very helpful. Enjoyed Least: We thought long and hard about this one, but came up with nothing about the property that we found negative. About the surrounding area -- driving through some very narrow streets, not very good street signs or no street signs, difficulty finding a parking space. When paying to park, keep the ticket that you get when you enter the garage with you and pay using the automatic pay stations before you exit. Surrounding Area: Recommend driving to the ruins near Bolonia, walking in the old town Estepona, and taking tours to Gibraltar and Tangier, Morocco with the tour group VDT. Get tickets from Benamar travel agency on main road in Estepona. Request pickup in front of Hotel Elba so that you can walk to the pickup spot. Nearby Events or Locales: You need to drive to Estepona and pay to park. You can walk to the beach in about 5 minutes -- just walk down the street and across the pedestrian bridge and you are there. Tips or Restaurants: The hosts created a book for the villa that provides excellent tips on surrounding restaurants and day trips. Directions: We recommend flying into Gibraltar. The small airport was very convenient. It was easy to walk to pick up the rental car in Spain and then drive to the villa in 40 minutes. Check In Out: We got a very helpful "orientation" tour of the villa, room by room, and of the grounds and common areas.”

“Overall: We had a delightful stay at this apartment. It is nicely furnished, tastefully decorated, and well located so that we could walk to many major sights. Enjoyed Most: Clearly, the location is the biggest selling point of the property. Enjoyed Least: There was nothing not to like. Surrounding Area: We enjoyed being able to walk to many of the places we wanted to see. In Piazza Navona alone tourists can visit the magnificent St. Agnes Church, the Palazzo Braschi, or simply sit taking in the fountains and people watching. A few steps farther, the Sant'Andrea Church is a wow! Tips or Restaurants: Restaurants: Virginiae, right next door at number 41, has excellent food. Be sure to try the Carciofi alla Romana La Focaccia at Via della Pace, 11 Da Luigi at Piazza Sforza Cesarini, 25. Gelato Blue Ice at Via Sant'Agnese in Agone, 20, NOT Quinta Gelaterie at Via di Tor Millina. Supermarket Carrefour Express with deceptively small frontage at Via del Governo Vecchio, 119.”

“Overall: We enjoyed our stay overall. Enjoyed Most: The location was very convenient to the main areas in Rome and not too far from the Metro.The size of the bedrooms was very nice and the arrangement was comfortable.The couch was comfortable for sitting.Kitchen was workable and had enough pots and pans, dishes and cutlery. Enjoyed Least: I know that the mattresses in Italy are not like those in America, but the mattress was very hard and I had to use one of the comforters to pad it so I could sleep.The mattress on the sofa bed was very worn and there was no support, so my son kept falling through. He is tall, but not heavy. Fortunately, there was a roll-away bed and so he took the mattress off the bed and slept on the floor on the mattress.The chairs in the bedroom were also worn. Editor's Note: The sofa bed was replaced Dec 2011. Surrounding Area: Again, the location was convenient. The street was for the most part quiet. There was a grocery store about 1 block away and a cappuccino bar just around the corner. Tips or Restaurants: We had a very nice dinner at a restaurant called Abruze. It was just around the corner from the Church of St. Philip and St. James. It was about 4 blocks from the apartment.”
