Overall: Excellent views of the Gulf of Salerno, mountains, gardens and hillside structures. Enjoyed Most: View. Enjoyed Least: Area was not walkable due to being on the mountainside. However, buses ran continuously to Amalfi for less than 2.00 just down the street from the villa. Surrounding Area: Breathtaking views. Nearby Events or Locales: None. Directions: The directions given gave us two options. One along the coast and another over the mountain. I suggest taking the one over the mountain. The coast drive was long and tedious.

Overall: Very peaceful and restful, exactly as promised. Enjoyed Most: Location and rustic styling. Enjoyed Least: Access to the driveway. Very steep drop from the roadway was difficult to negotiate with a large car. Surrounding Area: Ease or access by road and rail to a umber of large and small towns. Nearby Events or Locales: Cortona. Possible to walk in about 35 to 40 mins but we preferred to drive. Tips or Restaurants: Nothing in particular, other than perhaps a flash light. Restaurants in Cortona are fair to good. The restaurant in Hotel Michelle was excellent. Check In Out: Valentina, the property manager was excellent.

Overall: Great place, very clean, lovely apartment. Enjoyed Most: The view, balcony and well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed Least: It's a long way from town. Surrounding Area: The view, weather, food. Nearby Events or Locales: Positano - not really walkable. You need to understand the bus system quickly. Tips or Restaurants: Great restaurants generally. Make sure you understand the buses. Check In Out: All ok. Parting with EUR300 as a deposit seemed a bit unusual.

Overall: It was very attractive. We had fun just being together. Enjoyed Most: The pool area and that view to the mountains from the back of the property. Enjoyed Least: That I was never told that it was part of a three home complex right off the main road. Surrounding Area: It was easy to get to Lucca and the surrounding sites of interest. Nearby Events or Locales: Vorno was the nearest town. It was within walking distance but you would be taking your life into your own hands. The road is very narrow and walls are located next to the road and the cars speed down the road which winds Tips or Restaurants: We brought walkee talkee so we could keep in contact. Restaurants: A Bimbotta - Via di Vorno, 177 - Vorno Tel. 0583971193.Owner with husband; La Cecca - Via di Casse,55 - Corselli - 0583-94284. Directions: We used a GPS and it did a fine job of taking us around.

Enjoyed Most: The large garden and pool and the large dining room. Great for 5 couples on both accounts. Enjoyed Least: The property needs to be signed better. Even though the directions to the villa are good, the house has a very little sign which we passed by three times before calling the house and getting a person to stand outside the house on our arrival. Surrounding Area: Local Restaurants and Lucca. Nearby Events or Locales: Its was Vorno, and it was within walking distance, but not really much there. The location lends itself more to visiting the coastal sites, then Florence or Siena. The distance from the villa to Siena is a little to far. If they want to spend time visiting the coast and Lucca, it is ideal. A good find is to visit Cinque Terre. This should be highlighted.< Tips or Restaurants: The day manager knew all the good restaurants, so just telling her what you are looking for is good enough.

Overall: Very relaxing. Enjoyed Most: The views and the space. Enjoyed Least: Lack of bathtubs and variable water pressure. Nearby Events or Locales: We could walk into Montelopio with its one shop/bar. That was really just an occasional stop. We drove to see sights and ate and shopped whilst we were out and about. Tips or Restaurants: The best restaurant we found was Casa Masi in Montaione, about 45 mins drive away. Food was excellent and imaginative, restaurant was well organised with internal and external seating. (http://www.casamasimontaione.it) Directions: Finding the villa was straightforward.

Overall: Very pretty location. Very nice set up with bathrooms for almost every bedroom. Enjoyed Most: The large rooms, large dining room table with plenty of space for large groups to gather in. Bedrooms very nice size, bathrooms nice. Enjoyed Least: Lack of appliance plugs in kitchen. Unreliable WiFi. Location more remote than expected. Surrounding Area: Closeness to Santa Brigida, very nice people there who were very helpful. The wonderful pizza place in Santa Brigida. Also the restaurants in and around the area. The winery close by to visit and tour. Great wines. Nearby Events or Locales: Santa Brigida was closest. Several of us walked there daily and it felt very convenient. Tips or Restaurants: Rent small cars. We requested 4 passenger vans and got 8 passenger vans which were rough to drive on narrow roads. Lots of restaurants all around. Directions: Directions are great but no one should visit the area without a GPS. We had one for all three vans. Check In Out: Went very well.

Overall: We arrived by train and walked through the main piazza, rumbling our bags along behind us. We were very impressed with the property and its location in relation to the train station and the Cinque Terre, our main reason for choosing this location. Enjoyed Most: It was well appointed, with plenty of plates, glasses and cutlery, nice accommodation, with 3 bathrooms and living areas separate from the bedrooms, and lots of terraces to see the view. All of the bedrooms had views, and you could hear the waves lying in bed at night. Enjoyed Least: The heating was on some automatic system. We had a short blackout one day which interfered with the system, and we could not figure out how to get it back on properly. I spent a couple of nights being uncomfortably cold, although the rest of my family didn't feel it as I did. Surrounding Area: The town itself was pretty, and there were quite a few places to explore. In warmer weather, we would have made more use of the beach. We predominantly chose the place for its close access to the Cinque Terre, which we really loved. Nearby Events or Locales: The towns are coastal and separated by steep hills. I believe there are walks, but we didn't attempt them. There are regular trains connecting all the towns, and winding roads. The closest Cinque Terre town was 2 stops and about 10 minutes on the train. Tips or Restaurants: The Casa was well appointed and there are 2 markets in Bonassola where you can get almost anything you need. There are also several Foccacieras, handy for satisfying lunches, and bread to go with dinner. We ate twice at the restaurant at the northern end of the piazza next to the church. It was good, local food, and the chef-owner spent time with us trying to explain the dishes on the menu. Check In Out: A wonderful housekeeper met us, showed us around, and returned later that night to cook a fantastic enormous meal. She had a little English, and we managed to communicate. Our children really liked her, too.

Overall: We had a lovely stay. It was nice relaxing on the patio and catching up on reading, drinking wine in the evenings. We didn't venture out too much in the evening as nobody really wanted to negotiate the unfamiliar winding roads of the nearby towns in the dark. Enjoyed Most: The lovely touches throughout the villa - the painted ceiling in the living room, the stained-glass shutters, the stained-glass on the front entrance, the furniture throughout and in the bedrooms. The space, which worked out well for our family of eight, even with only two bathrooms. Enjoyed Least: Nothing really, the first day we had some difficulty getting up the road to the villa, but we were tired after a long night and day of travel and not used to a manual car. There were some dogs barking very early in the morning and noise from the workers during the day. Normally, we left for excursions during the day so weren't really bothered by that. Surrounding Area: The peace and quiet, the flowers and vineyards surrounding the property. The view of the towns, both nearby and far away from different vantage points on the property. Nearby Events or Locales: The town of Ricco del Golfo is at the foot of the driveway up to the villa. It was easy to walk to, not as easy walking back up the driveway for my mother. There is a Bancomat right at the end of the driveway and a couple of small stores for light groceries, also a nice pasticceria for pastries and coffee. Tips or Restaurants: The owner's book with restaurant suggestions was great. We stocked up on groceries at a supermercato in La Spezia and grilled most evenings for dinner and ate breakfast on the patio. We did have dinner one evening at a small restaurant-pizzeria located in a hotel in town, very inexpensive and nice choices - however, their lunch is limited. Directions: We missed the sign the first try, went to the next yellow house, but we figured it out.

Overall: We had a nice time and saw Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Sorrento. House is very nice and clean. People around us all nice and friendly and helpful. We had a few meals out and the food everywhere was good. Convenient to have a market at the foot of our hill. Enjoyed Most: The view--beautiful. Enjoyed Least: Probably the stairs...a young person would have no problem but we are in our 60's. They were a bit rough to navigate for me. Surrounding Area: It is extremely quiet and the neighbors are all friendly. It is perfect for someone wanting peace, quiet, and privacy. Nearby Events or Locales: No, not for us. The next closest town would probably be Amalfi and you need to take a bus or a taxi anywhere you want to go other than Praiano. Tips or Restaurants: We had pizza at Che Bonta...very good. Good service and reasonable prices. Also there was a take out place within walking distance that was very good. Bring wash cloths and the items mentioned on the list sent by RentVillas. Also bring aspirin and antibiotics in case of illness. Directions: We had a taxi take us. He called the local manager for directions. We did not drive and did not rent a car. Check In Out: No, it went very smoothly. Antonietta and Philomena were helpful and on time.

Overall: This property was substituted at the last minute due to a problem with our original reservation. It was very clean and comfortable! Enjoyed Most: The view was terrific from the living room window and from the terrace of the master bedroom. Very easy walk to town and great restaurants. The bus stop was right across the street and made traveling very easy. Easy walk to catch the ferries to the Cinque Terre. Enjoyed Least: Winding staircase was difficult for my sister to navigate to get to her bedroom. I had originally booked a one level apartment due to her disability. Towels were a bit worn and need to be replaced. Surrounding Area: Beautiful view of the sea. Small seating area in front of the property with succulents and a lemon tree enclosing the small patio made you forget you were right on the main road. Property was quiet even though it was on the main road. Nearby Events or Locales: Portovenere was right there and it was very easy to walk on level sidewalks. Check In Out: Check in was a bit hectic as we missed the train stop, traveled further north and then had difficulty getting a train back in time. The property manager was very patient, met us when we finally arrived and had good information as to the area, restaurants and taking the bus to other areas to tour.

Overall: The property was just as expected - a wonderful, authentically Tuscan, peaceful retreat with a fantastic location. Enjoyed Most: The location in the hills of Tuscany, and close to many of the nicest parts - villages of the Sienese Crete area. Enjoyed Least: The 2 bedrooms have a very thin wall between them - so there is not much privacy at all. Surrounding Area: Very peaceful, rural, unspoilt and not too touristed. Nearby Events or Locales: Castelmuzio was not a very viable walk - we had planned to walk there each day, but involved a lot of uphill walking with not too much good scenery to compensate. Tips or Restaurants: It is ideal for a family with 2 children - but I wouldn't go as 2 couples, as we did. There is a good restaurant right near the turnoff to the villa off the main road leading through Castelmuzio. Directions: A signposted name at the villa would be helpful, since we only knew we had arrived by recognising it from photos on your website.

Overall: Fantastic time had by all. Enjoyed Most: Open, beautiful, quiet and large. Enjoyed Least: Kitchen could have been better equipped. Would be nice to have a gas grill near the pool area. Surrounding Area: Beautiful, but a lot to do. The town was amazing as well. Nearby Events or Locales: Nothing in walking distance, but that was not a problem at all. Tips or Restaurants: The local restaurants were great - just on the road near the house. Walking near the house was wonderful and a bit of an adventure. Travelling up and down the coast gave us a lot of wonderful surprises. We also enjoyed a day sailing.

Overall: We had a great time. The Amalfi Coast is amazing! So much to see and do. Yet the villa was quiet and relaxing. Enjoyed Most: The view has to be 1. We spent every evening on the porch watching sunsets and admiring the scenery. The rooms, except for the kitchen, were spacious. The furniture was comfortable. Enjoyed Least: Upon arrival, the floors were swept but not clean; there were dead bugs in the tub in one bathroom and the shower needed a good cleaing. Also, one guest cut himself on the edge of the shower. The sea is 12 meters deep where the villa sea access is located. Only for strong swimmers. We were upset that we had to pay 280 euros to park our car down the road from the villa in a restaurant parking lot with no overnight security - when the 3 or 4 spaces behind the gate at the villa remained empty for the entire 2 weeks with only one space occupied on the weekends. We couldn't understand why the owner could not have made arrangements for us to rent one of the spaces. Editor's Note: The owner has confirmed that the maid will be more dilligent in the future with the cleaning of the apartment. She also confirmed that the parking spaces above do not belong to her and cannot be used. If clients insist upon bringing a car, the restaurant lot is the only option. She strongly recommends that clients do not bring a car, as it is easy to get around with drivers and public transportation. Rentvillas agrees with this. Surrounding Area: A bus stop was just a short walk from the villa. This made it so easy to travel to all the spectacular sights on the Amalfi coast and beyond. Between the buses and the train we never had to use our car--a definite plus considering the curvy road along the coast. Nearby Events or Locales: Minori is the closest town. Just a 10 minute downhill walk. It is a small town that does have a beach but is not full of tourists like Amalfi and Maiori, the next closest towns. It has a wonderful park along the beach. It is the only place along the coast with Roman villa ruins. The people are very friendly. We were able to get everything we needed for cooking at the local market shops. Tips or Restaurants: You don't really need a car. Take the train from Naples or Rome to Salerno, then catch a SITA bus toward Amalfi and get off at the stop by the Best Western. A 5 minute walk back toward town will get you to the villa which is at number 8 on the sea side. Bring bug spray and citronella candles as the mosquitoes and no-seeums are plentiful in the evening! Our favorite restaurant in Minori was Giardiniello, Corso Vitorio Emanuelle 17. A small gelato shop is on the the same street, a little closer to the the main road, was also very good. Just up beyond the Best Western is the restaurant, Il Boschetto, which is owned by Stefano. He serves dishes made with local fish and wine from his father's vineyard. Check In Out: The owner took me into town to show me the market and introduced me the the owner, good restaurants, and the location of the tourist information office.

Overall: The villa was very nice. Spacious and well appointed. The setting was beautiful. The villa itself was very close to a road that took some getting used to. Enjoyed Most: Location was ideal for day trips. Pool was great for the kids. Enjoyed Least: The landlady seemed to be very sensitive to our comings and goings. We had a noise complaint from her at 9:50 one night when we were playing a game of Crazy Eights with our sons age 6 and 8. Surrounding Area: Convenience to cities and towns. Tips or Restaurants: I would suggest that families with young children give this place a miss. For couples it would be a great place to stay. Just make sure not to upset the landlady.

Overall: We enjoyed our time at the villa. There was a wonderful dinner provided by staff at the main house. Enjoyed Most: Very pleasant grounds - enjoyed sitting by pool. Paths through gardens are delightful. Enjoyed Least: Only two of bedrooms have full showers. Surrounding Area: Loved Lucca and the farmhouse restaurant just a few kilometers up the hill from our property. Restaurant had a lovely view and excellent food. Tips or Restaurants: Farmhouse restaurant up the hill. Bring a comfortable pillow (hard to travel with!) and spend a day in Lucca. Directions: There was a road closed so initial directions took us a back way to villa. While there, the main road opened and we had no problems finding our way. Check In Out: Marcello was delightful and check-in/check-out were very easy.

Overall: Very satisfied. Enjoyed Most: The location was perfect. The views were amazing. I really appreciated having a stocked refrigerator and cabinet when we arrived. It made our transition after a crazy day of traveling much easier. Enjoyed Least: There was weak water pressure throughout the unit and there were ants in the kitchen and bathrooms. There is no AC in the unit but the sea breeze is usually sufficient at night. Surrounding Area: Being close to the beach and the pedestrian area made the location a great jumping-off point for some of the surrounding towns. We took the local bus and water taxi to other locations-it was quick and easy to travel. Nearby Events or Locales: Downtown Positano was only a few blocks away. Tips or Restaurants: Bring detergent if you plan to wash clothes. If you keep the shutters closed during the day, the evenings are much cooler in the unit. There is no AC so the unit could be uncomfortable otherwise. Directions: I took the SITA bus from the local train. It was a little confusing to get to the unit, but it would have been much easier had we opted for a taxi or car service from Naples. Check In Out: It was very easy.

Overall: We had a great experience and would recommend it to friends. Enjoyed Most: We loved the view, the veranda, the pool, and the spaciousness of the villa. We loved Dora!! Enjoyed Least: The lighting was very dim throughout the villa. Surrounding Area: We enjoyed the vineyards, the beautiful scenery, and the peacefulness. Nearby Events or Locales: Lilliano was within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Bring spices that you like and bags for storing leftovers. Directions: Be sure to tell them that they need to look for the Lilliano sign to find the office. Check In Out: The check in was somewhat confusing as there were many people trying to get checked in at the same time and there was a big language barrier. Check out went well.

Overall: The overall experience was very good, however it is not for people who are not physically fit. You are either going up a steep hill or down a steep hill. It was very challenging for our friend who had recently had both hips replaced. Enjoyed Most: The rooms were nicely done. The bedrooms were lovely and the beds comfortable. There was a washing machine and dishwasher. The kitchen was well supplied and the owner was lovely. He gave us a bottle of wine on arrival and visited during the week with a bottle of home made wine. The main street with shopping and restaurants was a 10 minute walk from the house. Enjoyed Least: There was no place to park the car near the house. We had to park on a ledge with no guard rail and a steep climb up from the property. It is not an easy place to drive around for most Americans who are used to wider roads. Surrounding Area: We enjoyed visiting other Tuscan hill towns. In Cortona itself, we enjoyed the restaurants, museums and churches. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town was Camucia, a commercial area with a couple of supermarkets. There is nothing within walking distance of Cortona from where the house is located. Tips or Restaurants: Get in shape before you get there. Consider hiring a driver or taking taxis or public transportation. Be sure to bring washcloths as most European rentals don't provide them. Ask your cell phone provider for details and rates to use your phone in Europe. It is surprisingly reasonable. All the restaurants where we ate were wonderful. Our favorite was Trattoria Toscana. Directions: The directions were perfect. We met your representative, who spoke fairly good English, at her office and she led us to meet the owner who then led us to the house. I suggest that future renters arrive while it is still light. We arrived after dark and it was tough negotiating the road into Cortona. We used our phone GPS all through Italy. Check In Out: It was easy and smooth.

Overall: The visit delivered everything we had hoped for - a true Tuscan villa with lots of history and character. Enjoyed Most: Character. Enjoyed Least: Some of the facilities could be improved - kitchen and showers primarily. Surrounding Area: Views, wineries, restaurants, small towns and we were there for the Wine Expos. Nearby Events or Locales: Greve, not really. 3kms away down a steep hill Tips or Restaurants: Time your visit around the wine expo. Try the Private Dining at Santo Stefano up the hill a bit from the property Directions: Yes, used GPS.
