Overall: Enjoyed this property two years in a row. Love the Bastille area. Enjoyed Most: Close proximity to market, grocery store, cafes, and metro. Enjoyed Least: Smokers taking break at nearby restaurant (Bofinger's) sitting on stoop under window of property. Bombarded with cigarette smoke several times a day. Surrounding Area: Right across the street from Bastille monument. Thursday and Sunday markets. Lot of activity and celebrations such as Gay Pride and Music fest. Frequenting local cafes. Not too touristy. Loved the local flavor. Tips or Restaurants: Bring electrical converters. Learn how to use the washer/dryer combination in apartment or find close by laundromat. Good Pakistani restaurant we frequented on Rue de la Roquette - Restaurant Taj. Check In Out: Excellent greeting. Thorough review of property. Very pleased.

Overall: Quite enjoyable. Enjoyed Most: Location and very clean. Enjoyed Least: Bathroom. Would not recommend using the bath...shower was o.k. Surrounding Area: Location was ideal and the shops/atmosphere fantastic. Tips or Restaurants: Maybe extra pillows if you require more than one to sleep on. Excellent restaurants very close by.

Overall: Quite enjoyable, quiet side of the Arno.Beautiful view and excellent location away from massive crowds. Enjoyed Most: Location;Entry is safe, quiet.View is outstanding. Enjoyed Least: Brown bedroom is dreary;yellow bedroom is bright and more inviting.Twin small bedroom is quite small, maybe brighten with some color? Surrounding Area: Being able to walk up to Forte Belvedere area and view the city.Cafe/shop across the street for coffee each morning. Grocery store also across the street was excellent and convenient. No need to go elsewhere. It had everything we needed. Good restaurants nearby on Borgo San Jacopo, especially Coniglia. For the best fast, delicious pizza try Gusta Pizzeria in Santo Spirito. Young kids, lively. Entry garden felt safe. Tips or Restaurants: Ask how to use the washing machine. Good luxury to have when traveling.WiFi was good. Directions: Take a cab, easiest from the airport. Check In Out: Thomas was quite pleasant, and very nice to meet us so late. It was around 9 PM.They were kind and accommodating and their English was perfect.

Overall: It was good and the check-in process was great. Enjoyed Most: Location was good--not too far from the Vaporetto stop.WiFi worked great from the get-go; they provided the password and it worked immediately and was fast. Enjoyed Least: It was the rainy season and we did not have boots or umbrellas. The good news is that the bakery smells from across the street were wonderful. The bad news is that the noise in the street started around 4 AM. Surrounding Area: Out of the way for major tourist traffic, but quite close to St Marcos Square, etc. Close to the Arsenale and park area. Tips or Restaurants: If you see a restaurant you like and want to eat there for dinner, make a reservation as soon as you can. Directions: The key holder meets you at the Arsenale boat stop and accompanies you to the property. This is a good way to get acquainted with the area. Check In Out: We had an issue at check-out: It went just fine, but the key holder did not mention that the boat operators were going on strike (and we needed to get to the cruise ship terminal). It would have been nice to receive some recommendations on how to get around the problem. It was a BIG surprise when we got to the Vaporetto stop and nothing was there!

Overall: Very good. The rooms were very large and the bedrooms were excellent. Enjoyed Most: The size of the rooms and the elevator. The elevator is a big plus. Enjoyed Least: There is noise on the street late at night. It is surprising since it is on a side street but the traffic noise carries. This was not a big problem for us but could be if someone is a light sleeper. Surrounding Area: The area is very good. Very safe and a close walk to everything. Would definitely stay there again. Tips or Restaurants: Giovanni's restaurant just below the apartment is excellent and would definitely recommend it. The apartment is well equipped and the washing machine worked great. Mariolino met us and was very helpful. Overall it was an excellent experience. Check In Out: Mariolino was great and I was very impressed.

Overall: We had a great time. The apartment was well-located, well maintained, and spacious. Enjoyed Most: The proximity to all that is going on in Rome. We were just down the street from the Colliseum and the Palatine Hill. Taxis were close by and we could easily go wherever we wanted. Enjoyed Least: The property itself was GREAT, but unfortunately, there is a bar directly below the apartment where revelers spill out onto the street, yell and scream and play loud music. Even with the windows closed (not what we would have preferred) the noise level was still disturbing. We had to wear ear plugs to sleep. Also, there is only one small sofa (2 seats) If 2 of us were on the sofa, the other 2 either had to sit on the hard dining table chairs or lay in bed. A second sofa would be a great addition. Surrounding Area: At least a dozen restaurants within a few blocks--we enjoyed every one we tried. Just observing everyday life in the city. There is a little fruteria right downstairs and we became well acquainted with the owners. They were our "go-to" stop. One block away was a virtual tour of old Rome which was so-so, but part of "when in Rome..". Tips or Restaurants: Luzzi's is a very popular restaurant right down the street, but was always way overcrowded. We stopped at sidewalk cafes, sometimes without any customers and the food was fabulous. Try the less busy places--you'll have a great meal. Directions: We took a taxi.

Overall: We all loved it. Enjoyed Most: It is stunningly beautiful and very spacious. We had eight in our party and didn't even use the upstairs at all. The location is very quiet except for birdsong and the grounds are lovely. It is close to trains, sightseeing and shopping. Enjoyed Least: The pillows and the lack of soap! Surrounding Area: There is so much to enjoy. We recommend Carpineto, a winery, only 1.8 km down the road for tastings, and to some of the closer towns Greve, Panzano, San Gimignano, Cortona, Florence. It is in the middle of Chianti country so the countryside is rolling and covered with vineyards. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town is Lucolena, definitely within walking distance, only about 1.5 km away. You can see it from the villa. Tips or Restaurants: The best restaurant is Locanda Borgo Antico, just past Lucolena. The food is fantastic and the prices unbelievable. Dinner for eight with wine was only 200 Euros. Shop in Figline at the Co-op, there are good prices and excellent selection. Keep in mind that you should wear the plastic gloves provided when choosing fruits and veggies, and remember to weigh them and get a price sticker before getting into the check-out line. The machine is easy to follow as it has pictures of the produce if you don't know the Italian names. In Greve there is an excellent wine tasting place where you can taste over 100 wines and olive oils. There is also an excellent butcher in Greve. Check In Out: Christina and Leonardo are wonderful and their English impressive.

Overall: It's a beautiful, well-equipped and maintained villa with stunning views. Enjoyed Most: The view, the interior and the really friendly and helpful owner. Enjoyed Least: The noisy and busy road made reading and relaxing by the pool difficult; there is a popular view point opposite the villa. Surrounding Area: Probably wouldn't stay in Akrotiri again as it was a bit too quiet but obviousy good caldera views. Nearby Events or Locales: Akrotiri - yes could walk to a mini market and to a few restaurants. Tips or Restaurants: It's important to note that there is a small car included with the villa. If renters only need a little run-around then it's fine although for five of us it would have been too small. (Editor's Note: As of April 2015, the car rental is no longer included in the rate.) Also the basement accommodation is not as good as the rest of the house so really think it's best for no more than 6 people - it also only had four loungers so we had to buy a couple of cheap extra ones. Directions: We were met at the airport and we then followed them to the villa in our rental car so no problem. Check In Out: Check in and out both really easy. The owner leaves a mobile with her number in it so you can contact her at any time.

Overall: We had a great time enjoying the accommodations and amenities. The pool is great and the view of the surrounding hills is terrific. Enjoyed Most: We had 9 people in our party and there was plenty of space for all of us to have privacy and get together when we wanted to.Also, while we were there late in the season, we still managed a meal outside under the grape arbor--beautiful! Enjoyed Least: It was further outside of Florence than we believed. I think the mileage stated is to the outskirt of Florence, not the city center. Surrounding Area: The countryside is very picturesque and the view spectacular. Nearby Events or Locales: San Donato is within easy walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: The small cafe in San Donato is run by a great couple with excellent panini and coffees. The bus was a convenient short walk away and was between 45 minutes and an hour to get to Florence. DO NOT DRIVE INTO FLORENCE! The bus is much more convenient. Directions: We picked up a rental car at the Florence airport (which is not actually located at the airport proper). Finding our way out of this location (and then back to) was complicated. I recommend picking up a car in downtown Florence, instead. Check In Out: Giulia was excellent and very helpful!
