This firm is carrying out serious illegal practices. I bought 1 year's insurance in 2016 and paid a one off fee as I don't want to pay in installments. When it got to May 2017 I went on line to Compare the Market and found a much cheaper policy with another company with exactly the same cover as RIAS provided. It is obvious that anyone would go for the cheaper option so I bought a year's cover with the new company. On 8 August 2017 I came home from work to find a threatening letter in my letter box demanding also £50. If I didn't pay the demand within 7 days RIAS would send a debt collector to my property. I am a pensioner but I also work for Citizens Advice full time at present. I phoned RIAS this morning on 0800 068 1641 (a free number). I spoke to a team manager there and told her that I thought the whole thing was a scam and as I worked for Cit.A. would raise this matter with higher authorities including the Ombudsman. I told the young lady that in all the time I have been buying home insurance and car insurance I have never ever come across a company who charges them a fee for cancelling their insurance with them. RIAS Insurance needs to be very very careful what they are doing to their customers. I advise anyone that has had a bad experience with this company to get in touch with Cit.A and do not pay money up front until you have received full advice on the matter. What RIAS is doing is outside the law and should be stopped.

My policy was increased by just over £100 due to a minor incident that was not my fault. The other party falsely claimed “whiplash “. After many months it was concluded I was not responsible and the full amount has been refunded to me. Well done Rias.

Insured Car Insurance with RIAS through Topcashback paid full premium £480) expected cashback of £55 (New policy offer ) Did not track, made a claim, Topcashback contacted RIAS (Sept 2017) No response as of today 25 Jan 2018. RIAS Insurance is longer available to purchase on Topcashback, clearly they have too many claims not paid. If RIAS can't pay their obligations how are they going to pay genuine Car Insurance claims. Really worried if I have to make a claim.

My accident was caused by someone hitting me in the rear.( was stationary at the time). The lady concerned admitted liability and was very sorry. I contacted RIAS immediately on 25th July, although they handled the claim efficiently ,they have not contacted me since, and my car is still not repaired completely.

Keep getting ' fliers' from RIAS, stating that their car insurance policies start 'from'£160.00 Got a quote for my twelve year old ford focus estate, maximum no-claims-bonus and a clean driving license for fifty years. Lowest quote offered was in excess of £380.00 Would be very interested in finding out, exactly what make and model of car that cover for £160.00 could be obtained. Perhaps examples of this should be made compusury, on their letters.

I had taken out car insurance out at the beginning of March to start on 22nd March, on the 10th April i received a letter from Rias saying your insurance is cancelled from 5th April because you never returned documents to us, I had just returned from a 250 mile round trip to Norfolk from 8th-10th April. In a panic i phoned Rias and was told i never replied to a letter to return proof of no claims, i explained i never received letter, she says can you send proof of no claims on your smartphone, which i did, I'm thinking thank god this is getting sorted, after all i have driven 250 plus miles with no insurance. After 90 minutes on the phone to Rias the lady on the end of the phone says i'll get your quote now, what i say, i want my cover from march 22nd not new cover i could have had my car taken off of me for no insurance, i never received letter or even the policy, she says i can't help you, but i will quote you now, she tries to quote me but computer says sorry can't quote. In short i think Rias is a disgrace, and i am going to take them to the ombidsman

We have had a home insurance policy with rias for many years. Unfortunately we had a burst pipe in our bathroom which has caused considerable damage to carpets, floors and ceilings. We were told today that we have to pay an excess of £250 for each thing that's damaged totalling £700 !!!! It's absolutely disgusting. Will not advise anyone to take out insurance with yourselves. It's been extremely stressful a day you've not been very helpful at all.

As an old, poor, computer illeterate, I found the RIAS email quite easy to undestand and the RIAS staff very helpful

Thought the invite to continue my insurance for another year was well presented and whilst the renewal quote was somewhat competitive if next years renewal increases as much as the last two years, might have a rethink!

Our mum was a loyal customer for several years, and never made a claim. Sadly she passed away a few weeks ago and can no longer drive (obviously ). We called Rias , and despite this being a very difficult time for us, we were told we would have to pay a cancellation fee !! Seriously ?! No condolences or sensitivity , and a cancellation fee . We are not cancelling through choice , or to go elsewhere, but because mum will not need the policy , clearly. We will not be recommending this company, but will however pass on how greedy and unhelpful they are. Also before anyone considers the above reviews, search all the other reviews elsewhere because they are all 1 or 2 star .

AS A LOYAL CUSTOMER I STILL FIND IT ANNOYING THAT I HAVE TO RING OTHER COMPANIES FOR QUOTES BEFORE GETTING A CHEAPER QUOTE FROM RIAS, I SAVED APPROX £60 ON MY ORIGINAL QUOTE BUT I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE GOT A REALISTIC QUOTE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I had a no fault claim with Rias in October 2014, when another driver hit me side on pushing my car into metal railings resulting in it being written off. My car was picked up within hours and I received the market value for it within two weeks. The legal department pursued the other party to reclaim my excess and increased insurance premium which I received within weeks.I was also provided with a hired car, paid for by the other party,,until I was able to obtain a new car.Rias provided a very efficient service which required little effort from me and I would recommend them to anyone without reservation..

Once again prices have gone up. Incorrect details which put up premium further, despite declaring the correct details. I will be looking online next year to compare prices.
