“Purchased a pair of ankle boots for indoors (work). In less than a year they are coming apart. The sole is lifting and the stitching is coming apart. The front of the boot is is wearing off (looks like I dragged it through gravel). When I tried to wipe down with a damp cloth the colour is coming off the boot. This is my first purchase from Rieker, and my last. I will go back to Josef Siebel they are better quality for the same price. I contacted the company via email, received an auto response indicating they would get back to me in 24 hours, it's been almost two weeks with no response. Very disappointed in the quality of this product and their customer service.”

“The boots have peeled at both toes, and have water marks from a wet day going from car to meeting. Maybe stepped in puddle. Cost $280. I am extremely disappointed as they are really comfy but look scruffy. What is this thin layer that is peeling off? What is the company's policy on returns?”

“Flat tan boot purchased for £75 - wore them a lot but within less than a year, the soles are detaching from the shoe. Took them to be repaired but not sure how long this will last. Soles should not be glued on. I expect a lot from my boots and longevity is included. My previous pair of Riekers lasted 4 years. The quality of Rieker products has greatly reduced in the 2 to 3 years. Shoddy workmanship, poor quality materials I have been shocked by the derioration in Rieker products on sale.”

“I'm writing this review for anyone thinking of buying any Rieker shoes. Long story short, don't! Save some of the space in your garbage can and read the full story below: It's not the first time I have bought poor-quality shoes because I didn't take the time to research them. However, they were cheap shoes I didn't expect much from, but they still looked fairly decent for 3 -4 seasons. But Rieker is something entirely different. In the store, they looked amazing and cost around $100. The clerk recommended and presented them to be of premium quality. Yet, I never expected them to fall apart in such a short time. I bought them by the end of January 2022 and wore them until the beginning of March. Now, I have worn them since November 1, and by the end of November, they look like I have walked with them through trenches. But, well, I live in the city, walk very little, and move around mainly by car. These Rieker shoes didn't last even four months. I bought them because I wanted to keep them for at least 2 years. I've never thought I'll have to dispose of them so fast. It's easy to blame the consumption-driven society for the state of the environment, but I firmly believe that companies such as Rieker that deliver products that wear off quickly are the problem that needs to be addressed first. No ESG or other environmental policy will make a difference as long as companies such as Rieker Shoes are allowed to fill the consumers' garbage cans with very poor-quality products every few weeks or months.”

“Quality standards have reduced greatly. Have bought boots, shoes and sandals over many years but those products bought in last 2 to 3 years are shoddy and poorly finished -3 pairs of boots have all had to go to the cobblers to have the soles reglued to the boots and while they were fairly well used, the soles themselves were not worn, it was just that the soles are clearly not being sufficiently well secured - 3 to 4 months use and they start to come away. This is really poor for a company which is selling itself on quality.”

“My tall black leather Remonte boots with lambs wool are comfortable warm and stylish. They were my favourite pair of boots that I have ever owned. They were very expensive but I was happy to pay thinking I would get several years from such quality. But they put a cheap zipper on an otherwise great boot and now the boots are worthless, despite being in otherwise perfect condition. I am a sad disappointed customer.”

“i took a pair of shoes back to Rieker at Meadowhall, Sheffield. The sole had started to come away from one of the shoes, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I was offered a full refund or a credit note. i ended up with another pair of shoes, plus a credit note to make up the difference. which i was more than happy with. I've Rieker shoes for many years, mainly because they tend to have a wider fit, which in turn makes them more comfortable. i can't recommend the product enough. And, apart from this one time, the quality is excellent”

“Extremely expensive for synthetic shoes, have only worn them on a cruise ship and as I must catch one against the other occasionally when walking, the material chips off and leaves ugly marks. Would not recommend. See photo.”

“I bought a pair of Rieker shoes (Odyssey) in late Nov. 2017. I wore them twice, in dry weather, & was delighted with them - they were light to wear & extremely comfortable. I wore them for the third time in January 2018. Light rain was falling, & the pavement was damp. I walked a distance of no more than 200 yards & my feet were wet through. I immediately returned them to the shop (Clinkards) from which they were purchased. I was refused a refund, but the manager agreed to contact Rieker to ask if your company would reimburse me. You declined to do so, your response being that the shoes were not faulty. The shoes leak through stitching around the sole which cannot be seen from above. To all appearances this item of footwear is an outdoor town shoe of the type worn in autumn & winter (as Clinkards conceded). While I do not expect a town shoe to be technically waterproof (that is something I expect in walking boots), I do expect it to be water resistant, & if it is not, I would expect there to be a clear indication that it should not be worn outdoors if there is any risk whatsoever of rain. If this shoe is not technically faulty, it is certainly not fit for purpose.”

“My Rieker walking boots purchased 10 weeks ago, these boots have had very little summer wear. approx 2 hours a day. Boots are comfortable but have split on both boots, in the area where toes bend on ball of foot. I am very disappointed as these boots were very expensive, and I live on a basic tight budget. I can't recommend.”

“I thought Rieker Shoes were a good quality product. Having just read the other reviews I see that I was very mistaken. Havent had my shoes very long and the stitching is coming apart. From the other comments, one can complain, but get no answer from the company. VERY SAD and upset…good $$$ for poor shoes and I will make sure all my friends know NOT TO BUY Rieker products”

“My issue is with quality and Customer Service. I order a pair of N4263-16 Nikita in March of 2022. I had them for less then 3 weeks and they started to fray around the zipper. My first email to Customer Service was April 26th. The response I received from them was: " Thank you for contacting the Customer Services team at Rieker Shoe Canada Ltd. This message is to inform you that we've received your email and we'll be sure to look after you from here. You should receive a reply within a few hours, but please allow up to 24 hours. In the meantime, our website's FAQ section does answer many common questions – just click here for more information. Once again, thank you for your inquiry and have a nice day! Customer Services Rieker Shoe Canada Ltd. " This is an exact copy from the email I received from Reiker Canada. I have also left 3 messages on the Customer Service phone and emailed twice more with the same response from Reiker Canada. As of today I have heard nothing from Reiker Canada and am left with an expensive pair of shoes that are falling apart.”

“I have ordered a pair of Rieker shoes, paying the requested total of 78.94. There is a small print statement that says the price may be adjusted if the exchange rate moves. On the same day I see that our bank account has been debited with a total of $89.15. This isn’t currency movement of a single day - 13%. It is sharp practice, and should not occur.”

“Rieker boots look good but my winter boots leaked and I had to secure the soles with glue. Also my short and my long boots peeled at the toes very quickly liked I had scraped them along the ground. They look well worn now. I won't be buying Rieker again.”

“wish I could give Rieker zero stars. I ordered a pair of Rieker boots, and within a week they started to peel. The boots only had 10 - 12 hours of wear time in total. Apparently Rieker does not warranty their boots. (I've never heard of a Canadian company that does not back their product.) The email that I got was ... Rieker does not warranty the wearing of the material as a defect and therefore they will not take them back, sorry! I contacted Rieker and they were no help, they also promised to have a manager get back to me and never did. I completely understand if I had these boots for three or four months and if they were cheap boots (I paid over $120 for them) they were barely a week old, and had very little wear time and started to peel. I would have expected a better product from a Canadian company. Poor quality and poor customer service.”

“I have to say I wasn't impressed as within 1 .5 yrs they were falling apart, the red paint had come off, the sides had come away...just really poor.”

“I have a similar problem to Anna S. After wearing a pair of Rieker boots sparingly for 4 months, the leather in the upper portion stared to flake off. On top of this, the leather on the top portion of the R boot has cracked in several places. I emailed Rieker and did not even hear back from them! I will never buy a Rieker product again!”
